youbastards Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Five Below would be a great chain for Minimates, from my experience they are much more organized than Dollar Store/Dollar General, etc. Quote
winkerbean Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Any chain man enough to sell them in UK would be nice Quote
buttheadsmate Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm in no position to judge whether the new outlets for Minimates were accessible to the majority of US collectors here. I would like to know . Quote
karamazov80 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 For me, there is apparently a Hastings in my state, though I've never seen one in person. There is a K-Mart about 30 minutes from my house. We do have a Sears at the mall about 10 minutes from me, and Dollar Generals/Dollar Trees are all over the place, as I live nearby areas of high poverty. Quote
MisterPL Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Kmart stores surround me. I have two Sears stores within 20 minutes. No Hastings within reasonable driving distance. Nearest one is 576 miles away. Dollar Tree stores are everywhere, unfortunately, but if DST wanted to sell blanks for a buck, I'd be interested. Quote
winkerbean Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Something I've just noticed is that the mass market TMNT blind bags & the Mass Effect blind bags have a CE on them meaning they can be sold over here in the UK!! Who the hell might be selling them is another question Edited January 5, 2015 by winkerbean Quote
arnim zola Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Everytime I have to go to target I think of how great it would be to shop for minimates there. I can only assume that DST's sales team is up targets butt with every new license, Id like to understand why they aren't biting. Quote
Lobsterman Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I actually saw some LCS wave 5 Walking Dead two-packs in a "collectors toy" section at a Target over the holidays. I don't know if it was a fluke or what. Quote
Valo487 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 My guess is Walgreens. They've jumped onboard with Funko and Marvel Legends recently. Quote

I can only assume that DST's sales team is up targets butt with every new license, Id like to understand why they aren't biting. Maybe that's the problem. "Stop shoving these block figures up our butts and present them in a normal fashion", I imagine them saying on the way to the proctologist. Quote
buttheadsmate Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Walgreens own 'Boots' in the UK ......who'd have known? I didn't until a few minutes ago. Quote
arnim zola Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Heres what we have so far for the mystery licenses - - 1 box set, new license, never shown or hinted at The box set is tangentially related to an existing license, and may have more than four Minimates in it. The box set is all human characters. - 1 two-pack assortment, new license, never shown or hinted at The assortment is based on animated characters. It is three two-packs and a variant. The animated series is all animal characters. And I don't mean people dressed as animals, I mean actual animals. First these were listed Possible licenses mentioned - Showbiz Pizza animatronic guys – animals but not animated C.O.P.S - made zach sad this probably wouldn’t happen 90's cartoon/90's movie/original Mirage style Turtles – would be part of the existing Archer - Animation is 180 Gargoyles – animated but not animals Inspector gadget - animated but not animals Silver hawks – not people dressed as animals Battle of the Planets – not people dressed as animals Voltron – animated but not animals Attack on Titan - animated but not animals Sailor Moon – animated but not animals Dragon ball Z Kai - animated but not animals Korra – animated but not animals Avatar – animated but not animals Adventure Time – animated but not all animals Simpsons– animated but not animals Family Guy – animated but not animals Incredibles – animated but not animals My little Pony – Zach said Nope Scooby Doo - animated but not animals Venture Bros – too close to archer/180 Animated DC – Come on… Darkwing Duck GI Joe - animated but not animals Transformers - animated but not animals He-Man - animated but not animals Marvel Animation - would be part of the existing (per tmnt zach logic) Firefly/Serenity Cthulhu/Lovecraft Frankenweenie – animated but not animals From Dusk Till Dawn Caprica Reservoir Dogs King Kong – not all human Ben 10 – animated but not animals Bob's Burgers – animated but not animals Comic Book Men “One is correct, and one is actually a future thing NOT being solicited this month!” I believe the one correct was the 4 humans pack and not the animated licenses since at this point the only animated licensematching what we know is Darkwing duck. Then these were listed: Star Wars The Old Republic – Animation is 180 Prometheus - Too late in the conversation? Big Hero 6 – animated but not animals Looney Tunes Flintstones - animated but not animals Spongebob - animated but not animals Hello Kitty King of the Hill – animated but not animals Shrek – animated but not animals Madagascar Kung fu panda Toy Story - animated but not animals Power rangers – No from zach WildC.A.T.s Big Lebowski – Too late in the conversation Street Sharks Yo gabba gabba – Monsters not animals The Tick - not people dressed as animals Planet of the apes - animated but not animals Pokemon Smurfs – animated but not animals Snorks Tales Arthur Thundercats – just did this Star Wars: Ewoks – not star wars Muppets/Muppet Babies – monsters, not animals/humans Bucky O'Hare Rescue Rangers/Duck Tales/Goof Troop/DarkwingDuck/Mighty Ducks Getalong Gang Hanna-Barbara Sonic the Hedgehog Cowboys of Moo Mesa License has been guessed, and will be at specialty, TRU and KMart. I would not look for more obscure licenses. At this point I believe the animated license for animal characters has been guessed since there was a lot more options. arnim zola Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 This leaves us with the following for 4 humans - Firefly/Serenity From Dusk Till Dawn Caprica Reservoir Dogs Comic Book Men This leaves us with the following for animated animal character 2packs - Looney Tunes Hello Kitty Madagascar Kung fu panda WildC.A.T.s Street Sharks Pokemon Snorks Tales Arthur Bucky O'Hare Rescue Rangers/Duck Tales/Goof Troop/DarkwingDuck/Mighty Ducks - Getalong Gang Hanna-Barbara Sonic the Hedgehog Cowboys of Moo Mesa So Im going to say that we are looking at Reservoir Dogs or comic book men for our loosely connected 4pack of humans. And reservoir dogs would open up at least 2 box setsso I believe that is the correct guess. For animated Im not sure as there are lots of options, but I would guess that they would have to be really popular, and more recent if they are getting into kmarts and tru, though two older choices are big enough that they could still make it. So lets cut it down. Looney Tunes Hello Kitty Madagascar Kung fu panda Pokemon Hanna-Barbara Any of these would be great so Im going to guess Pokemon. Now if Zach was being coy and the first set of names was the animated license, it could very well be Darkwing duck, Giving us Prometheus as the loosely related 4 pack of humans (engineer included since humans were engineered by them) I believe the future thing NOT beingsolicited was Cthulhu based on the upcoming bank and the fact that they are more likely to do the monster characters from the mythos than humans. And there we have it Quote
youbastards Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) A few comments/notes/questions How is Firefly/Serenity related to an existing license? DST isn't even producing BSG product anymore, so I doubt they would seek out the license to a failed spin-off (Caprica). Does DST even have the BSG license anymore? With Reservoir Dogs, we *could* get a 6-pack of just the color-named characters, that could rule out a 2nd boxset if DST didn't want to bother with supporting characters. (Sorry, Chris Penn) Spongebob needs to stay on the animated list. Edited January 5, 2015 by youbastards Quote
Mattallica Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 i could see res. dogs filling the "may have more than 4 minimates" if there are extra heads and just 4 black suited bodies and as YB said Spongebob needs to stay on the list as it is animated and ARE animals Quote
arnim zola Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Both lists were what had been suggested by board members before Zachs comments that the lines had been guessed. Firefly/caprica was a guess during what I thought was the part of the thread where the 4 pack was correctly guessed by a member. And I never saw a post saying the boxset was loosely based on a past or present license and DST hasn't done more than a 4 pack of mates in a long time. Unless it was a 4 pack with parts for the others As for sponge Bob, I'd love them but a sponge isn't an animal Edited January 6, 2015 by arnim zola Quote

And yes, Spongebob doesn't look like one, but they drew him like that because they thought it'd be funnier if they did. Quote
hellpop Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I also guessed Big Lebowski before Zach said that one of the guesses was right.... Quote

Lobsterman Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) This leaves us with the following for 4 humans - Firefly/Serenity From Dusk Till Dawn Caprica Reservoir Dogs Comic Book Men Given that the deal with all of the Tarantino films has been through Miramax, I'd guess Dusk Til Dawn or Reservoir Dogs are likely choices. Advantage RD, because simple tampos, no new parts, and Zach said the set would possibly have more than four in it. Edited January 6, 2015 by Lobsterman Quote
