pappymojo
A Ernest Borgnine minimate would best cool though. . Yup, Ernest would be pretty cool. But he needs to come in an Airwolf set with bitchin' attack helicopter and Jan Michael-Vincent Minimate. The Magnificent Seven (in my best Joe Strummer voice) Edit: I was thinking of the wild bunch. Still using my Joe Strummer voice though. Edited January 4, 2013 by pappymojo

Kostisfire
Zach said astronauts but the guys in alien are space marines. He hasn't debunked it yet but could you think of another astronaut themed franchice that would make us go crazy with excitement? Maybe they decided to give m.a.x. another go? Warhammer 40k mates would be beyond awesome. Think of all the vehicles, the variety in races (orcs, tyrranids, eldars) and the customization. Now that would make me flip.Yeah i know they are not astronauts and it's never gonna happen but a man can dream.

Lurch77
If Disney, then there is only one option: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea with the Nautilus!!!! This would be amazing! I'm not a big fan of the movie but I would love to see minimated version of the Nautilus.

Those and Edward Scissorhands were the only things he ever made that I found interesting.

MisterPL
After reading today's Q&A with DST, I'm wondering if the astronauts in question are from Space: 1999. Because, dayam, if they are...
Mirymate
After reading today's Q&A with DST, I'm wondering if the astronauts in question are from Space: 1999. Because, dayam, if they are... Wait, wha? There was a Q&A today and no thread update for it? Am I actually going to have to start checking their website myself? Geez! Next I'm going to be expected to tie my own shoes. I'm far too entitled and lazy for this.

BannersID
oh wow, i so wish. the thought of a large line of minimate SPACE:1999 stuff is just outside of what I can cope with. I mean you think TM2Dino is outa control with his squeeing? This or a Micronaut themed line of mates would well it would be wasted as I would have squeed myself to death by the time a release came around. BannersID
its a niche thing, don't feel too bad about it. After reading the Q&A I think its pretty safe to say don't get your hopes up.
MiniFiend UK
Space 1999 is a UK made live action Sci-Fi series by the guy who created Thunderbirds, Joe 90 etc. I would be really into something on this licence and a Minimate Eagle space ship would be so cool. buttheadsmate
I read somewhere (FX Magazine?) that Space 1999 was going to remade ....there was some fuss about what they were going to call the show. The trouble with that show & many other great shows like Thunderbirds,Captain Scarlet,The Saint & The Prisoner is that a UK company called ITC hold the rights & whatever they seem to licence bombs when remade......my opinion. MisterPL
I had the back in the day and loved it. If DST were to offer Space: 1999 'mates and the Eagle (or Hawk) that would be just fine with me.As for a movie, they could just go all Prometheus on it, give it a different title so it's not obvious to the masses what it is, but still leverage enough elements from the original series to make it recognizable to fans. I'd also be up for a feature film sequel to the show with Martin Landau and Barbara Bain back in key roles. Set it in an alternate universe where the moon did leave Earth's orbit and in the distant future, rescuers are finally catching up to it. BannersID
yeah the transporter from mattel is a truly golden moment from my childhood. Tromping around the house doing the human beat box thing to the theme music with my Eagle 1 held above my head, GOOD frackin' times. I would be pretty enthusiastic about any kind of revival effort done with this show. A few years ago there was a line of cloth mego like dolls for the show, should DST eventually take on a Mate project for this I would hope it would go that route as it had a pretty deep character selection. TBT!
Add me to the list of folks who'd love to see something happen with the space 1999 license. I had Dinky Toys diecast metal Eagle that like others I'd run around the house whoooosing about. Such a great spaceship design esp with the modular cargo bay! I remember the show as being slightly confusing and odd, but that could have been that I was all of perhaps 5 yrs old when the show was initially aired. I also think that other Gerry Anderson Properties, mostly Thunderbirds and Capt Scarlet would make great minimates. perhaps as one off box sets or figures packaged with minimate vechicles. T. MiniFiend UK
I had the green an white metal one I think it was made by Dinky. I also had at the time (or prob when when reruns where shown) a crush on the female shape shifting character with the funky eyebrows.
