  1. Past hour
  2. I've been able to get my hands on some of these and they do the trick for the most part. The most confusing thing to me is whenever I think of "Planet of the Ape Kubrick" it conjures images of an alternate history where 'Planet of the Apes' is a much more esoteric, allegorical film about evolution, conception, life and death. In that same alternate history '2001: A Space Odyssey' would have been a much more straight forward adventure picture about he-man cosmonaut Charlton Heston embarking on a dangerous mission through a wormhole to reach Jupiter.
  3. Username check out. LOL Something dawned on me recently. Based on their behavior in the wild, the chimps should be the violent military types and the gorillas should be the pacifist scientists. Chimps are way more cruel than gorillas in real life. They are evil. It's a PitA that we don't have PotA minimates. I'd go bananas for them! Even with prices climbing these days.
  4. Today
  5. There's a new Kubrick Out of the blue there's a new Star Wars Rogue One Vader which is a 'Not for sale' item .....which means that they are for sale but only on the secondary market For anybody that is interested it seems that there are still kubricks being released .....at a rate of one per annum !!
  6. they were simply acting as if they were riding horses. I still can't get my head round it, to be honest.
  7. 24 years ago Medicom produced several kubrick box sets . There were about 30 characters + horses, carts, spaceship & Lady Liberty ! I'm not sure if they were successful ? I'd love some Minimate PotA versions WITH horses, carts etc.
  8. I used to bring up Planet of the Apes a lot. Somewhere in my mountains of notebooks I have an entire assortment for the original movies mapped out.
  9. 85/Spider-Verse is this set, due in June. 86/Clone Saga will likely be fall.
  10. So is this 90's set comin out before the spiderverse set?
  11. Yesterday
  12. I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but I'm surprised DST never made the move for Planet of the Apes minimates. Not the newer, Andy Serkis movies obvs, cause that doesn't seem to be the wheelhouse for quality minimates, but rather the classic 70s stuff. Like a four pack with Zaius, Cornelius, Taylor and Nova (Or maybe a Gorilla soldier instead of Nova); Something that would scratch the itch and leave fans wanting more. Anyway, just a thought brought on by the impending new movie.
  13. Last week
  14. Just a heads-up that the latest "on the water" update from Diamond has an updated release date of June 19th for this set, which is usually pretty accurate once it shows up in that report.
  15. Joe is very much a nostalgia property. Every time they try something new, it either reverts back to ARAH or if moves away from ARAH it dies. GI Joe 25th is a perfect example of this. It went from two single box sets to absolutely DOMINATING to the toy aisles for a few years, they moved away from ARAH and it quickly died off. Classified started as sort of a "modern take on Joe in 6 inch" with more military and sci-fi mixed in, but not necessarily classic designs. It did okay but stumbled a bit. As soon as they switched to straight up ARAH, it took off. You can pepper in SOME new stuff of course, but ARAH is what keeps it afloat. There are also big AT and even Super Joe fandoms out there as well. But there's nothing "new" with Joe that's connected with people in decades. I think the Joe MMs weren't as successful because a lot of issues with rollout and it was the same ol' stuff we usually see as the launch for Joe. The GI Joe Megos failed because they launched with SS and SE, which IMO is a mistake even though they are arguably the most popular Joe characters, Mego collectors didn't want those figures first. You're not going to get Joe fans to jump into a new format just cause of SS and SE, they have 800 versions of those guys. A new version of them doesn't excite them. From a business perspective it makes sense on the surface, but two seconds of digging under the hood you can see why it's a mistake. MMs issue was not so much character selection, though that was an issue, as it was not playing to the format's strengths. What was the #1 thing everyone here asked for? Army builders. That would have appealed to MM collectors and Joe collectors as opposed to another SS and CC. But that's been beat to death.
  16. Howdy! Yes, you are spot on with the base for that figure! I used different arms with some cuffs instead of the O-Ren arms. I had considered Thunderbird from from wave 68, and even X-Force Warpath as an alternative. I thought it might look kinda shadowy. I also considered a Harada head for an unmasked look. Or trimming down a Daredevil mask, though that gets away from the Q part of QC. 😊 And the hairpiece I used is from the Walgreens Animated White Tiger. I really liked the shape of it.
  17. I am trying to do a quick custom of Tomi Shishido Gorgon. I see you used O-Ren Ishii from Kill Bill as the base with a long black hairpiece. Did you end up using another head beside a Silver Samurai head colored red. I see that the rare Toys R Us Warpath has a red domino mask, like the one Gorgon wears. So do the Chronic Jay and Silent Bob figures. But they are rare and expensive. Do you or anyone else have any others ideas. Otherwise I was thinking Wave 68 Thunderbird's head.
  18. I think the kaine looks accurate based off the art posted. The face and cleavage look like they should be a lighter blue. Plus, i think the cleavage is sexy too
  19. The cloning process went really wrong with him.
  20. Perhaps Zach could look into Kaine's cleavage as well ?
  21. I think Kaine’s cleavage is sexy.
  22. I'll look into whether we can update the paint on the Green Goblin figure, based on Scott McDaniel's testimony. No promises.
  23. I see what you mean. It looks like the shading is inverse. Hard to see, but it's possible the ab/muscle definition lines (under the grey web details) are the right color of blue, but the way the actual character is shaded is opposite, meaning the dark blue is prominent and shaded with black, rather than the other way around.
  24. He's wearing a costume, the patterning on his costume is based on the scars on his skin:
  25. As i mentioned multiple things about Kaine, to clarify what i consider the actual "problem"
  26. I’d dump Saw for Krennec. He was in other things. We could still get him.
