Output quality is fantastic. The only challenge at this point is that the rendered Mate is tiny. I then have to upscale it to correct size and carve out the parts I want. Some are coming along nicely but some I've made too small and then the part is too thin and doesn't print well. But I've got a couple of fantastic parts already. If you have basic Blender skills, you should be able to follow my workfow. I use free gemini.google.com to generate images. My prompts start out something like, "Create an image of John Rambo as a Minimate block figure. No nose. No background. Display the figure from 3 different angles suitable for generating a 3d model. I may have to update a few times to add more detail. When I'm happy I save the image. I use GIMP to split the file into 3 separate images. Then I go to https://3d.hunyuanglobal.com/ . I choose Image to 3d, Multiple Images, and Staged Generation as I only want the stl and don't need textures. I upload the 3 images I created. Typically front, back, side. This outputs a full 3d model of the figure. I import that to Blender. I also import my standard Minimate-like head (with no peg hole) I use the head as a sizing guide to resize the model. Then I cut out the parts I want. So far it's been hair pieces and helmets, etc. But it would be just as easy to copy any part really. It's a good workflow resulting in good quality parts. I will have to redo some because I didn't sit the hair far enough down on the head when carving them out. But I'm really happy with the quality so far.Mon, 17 Aug 2026 22:51:04 +0000That's awesome. We had no reference for them, and really knew nothing about them other than the internet rumour that Ned was Ned Leeds. Because we had a Spider-Man movie with two costumes, Iron Man and Happy, Marisa Tomei, and three villains (at least on paper, it sounded like Shocker and Tinkerer were bigger deals) it felt like we didn't need some high school kids. We didn't know Zendaya was MJ though, she was 'Michelle', and Ned wasn't singled out as being Peter's best friend. Some were easy- Romani/90's Scarlet Witch, Agent 13, Steve Rogers clone Red Skull, Flag Smasher Grant Rogers, Doughboy, but others were a pain- all three Diamondbacks, Eel, Cottonmouth, Cobra, Sidewinder- but worth it. Nomad and the Captain, two of Steve's alias' throughout the years, also took a bit of work. I have been working on this specific project for about... five months? Originally, it was just more baddies for my shelf for all my minimates, then I made a new section for Captain America stuff in my toyroom, and it kinda bloomed from there. I was originally planning to have it down July 4th, but, well, I kept wanting to add others and more and do more things. I will eventually trim it down, store or get rid of some and then put the Caps back at the display I mentioned, and most of the others on the shelves. If you can get the parts, she was pretty easy- she is a SDCC Red Riding Hood, an Avengers Vs X-Men Scarlet Witch hairpiece (suppose Marvel Now would work, too) and then a Belinda or such cape painted red with simple acrylic paint. Took longer for the paint to dry more than anything really annoying. Still, thank you. The most complete Captain America Minimate collection an display I can/care to struggle to put together. We have Cap through the years, including Ultimates and the Captain and Nomad. We have the same for Bucky, Falcon, Zemo and the Red Skull. MCU Captain America and the Avengers movies, animated and video game Captain America and friends and enemies, we have Cap's rogues gallery, including a (damn near) complete fully custom Serpent Society, armies, and even got in a Doughboy for Zola to command around. Love interests from multiple canons/stories, close allies, SHIELD, other Invaders, even late 90's/early 00's 'will they/won't they Scarlet Witch. Rikki Barnes, Bernie Rosenthal, Connie Ferrari, Sersi. We got Modern Day Wasp with the Avengers (thanks @luke314pi ; great sticker set, available on his store, plus Nuke and Scourge in the villains), we got Cobra, Diamondback (classic and modern in both variations!), Black Mamba and Asp, we got Sin, Veronica Eden, the Foreigner, we got more Skulls and Crossbones than you can throw a stick at! I want to toss out a special thanks to @DSTZach, @Barry and @Ivan ; Zach, Barry, you two were instrumental in something that has been bringing me joy for decades. Ivan, without your MinimateDatabase, my research would hit a wall and crumple. And again, another thanks to @Captain Paco for some parts! This may be hokey, but this has been a bit reflective to put together. I got my first Minimates as I started college, as I was moving out of the house, becoming an adult- and having my first of many back surgeries and trials. Now, while Minimates may not have new toys to come, I find myself in the afternoon of my time here, with a lot of anxieties, fears, and worries. My parents' age and quality of life, my own health. The world around me, dangerous technologies, politics, pollution and climate change... This has been needed. Captain America has been a favorite, maybe *the* favorite character for me for as long as I can remember, and it's nice to focus on a story where good wins, where the kid from Brooklyn steps up, and just the escape. Putting this together has been a (costly) experience, but as the lyrics go to one of my favorite songs, 'at least I didn't have to think for a while.'
