DSTZach
Good for you for sticking to your opinion, groundhog. ALTHOUGH it does seem that a lot of the best animation updates happening today (EMH, TMNT) are largely inspired by their classic comic and cartoon incarnations. I don't actually think that 1970s Marvel Comics are better than modern ones, but I think many of the characters and costumes proved to be timeless. Not Blade's look, but many others. Strange, Morbius... WBN is just a classic werewolf, but he's Marvel's OFFICIAL werewolf.
hellpop
Comics are certainly slicker and more narratively sophisticated, but I have a REAL hard time saying that they are better now. I think it's similar to the film industy; the production values we see on the big screen now is undisputedly better now, but craftsmanship and storytelling has not kept up. Can you really compare the work of Bendis, Fracton, et all to Gerber, Englehart, Starlin, and the 70s crew and decide that the former is better? stack32
I've had enough of alternate universe/future X-boxsets to last a lifetime. No special attachment to 70s Marvel for me but I'm definitely picking this up. Morbius is the big draw, but even Blade looks cool, especially with the stake-throwing accessory. Strange seems like a pretty worthwhile upgrade too. If Universal Monsters is dead, a follow-up Strange Tales set would seem like a perfect release around Halloween. Shogi
Admittedly, If there was a set with just Dr. Strange and Blade, I probably wouldn't buy it. Like others have mentioned, I also like Morbius because of the 90's Spiderman toon and WBN can be fully blamed on my dad sharing his love of that comic with me as a child. Thankfully that's enough to make me really excited about this set Edited March 2, 2013 by Shogi
Turtle
I'd buy another AoA set, but I'm not especially clamoring for one. Kind of like how I want especially clamoring for a Strange Tales set, but I'll certainly be buying it. If we could get a 70's era X-Men set or two (or wave), that'd be grand. A Phoenix Saga set would be nifty.

youbastards
I'm still bummed we didn't get Nate Grey (X-Man), of all the AoA characters, he was the only one that had a solo book.

Gillbob316
Well hell, chalk me up as another person who would buy another AoA 4-Pack... hell... there's probably room for 3 more. 1 scarcely seems enough.Who's left?X-Man ColossusShadowcat Dazzler StormNightcrawler (whose had a particular resurgence in relevence I might add)QuicksilverSugar ManWild Child Banshee (Though I would be loathe to get him before 616) IcemanAngel Madri (Army builder yo)Gambit Jubilee Bishop ExodusNot to mention characters from the anniversary reboot...X-23 Psylocke PhoenixSilver SamuraiXornOkay so like... 5 or 6 more boxed sets. That's what Zach promised us, right? That's exactly what happened in this thread? That's how I remember it. I know you're joking (or, at least, I assume you are), but Spider-Ham was one of my favorite comics as a kid, and the first six issues or so are quite good, and heavily influenced by Carl Barks' Duck comics. I would LOVE a Spider-Ham/ Marvel Tails set, and I think Marvel's really missing an opportunity by not exploiting the character. EDIT: @ Gillbob: So, wait, the guy that was just complaining that we do too many polls is making wish lists of AoA characters in unrelated threads? See again, you were reading that post with far more "complaint" than I had in me as I typed it. I'm long-winded. This I admit and am very aware of. That doesn't necessarily mean I carry a negative tone... in my long-windedness. And while I realize this wasn't/isn't an Age of Apocalypse thread originally, the last page or so of discussion (which I had nothing to do with starting) pertained to it. MisterMiracle
I'm all set on a return to AoA or Fear Itself. I didn't buy any of those at all. This set looks amazing though and I'll definitely be picking one up!
Nessex
While we're skidding dangerously off topic and wishlisting for AoA box sets, i'd be chuffed more villains (Abyss & Mikhail) and army builders (Infinites & Sentinels). Meanwhile, back on the topic, I think this set has some great customising potential too. Morbius' collar might make for a good Black Tom Cassidy! funkguerilla
Man. I'm crazy excited for these. I really want these to be REALLY successful so we can get a followup boxset with more supernatural characters. Like a Midnight Sons set with an updated Ghost Rider, Vengeance, Damian Hellstorm, and a Bionic Johnny Blaze. Either that or anything that includes Man-Thing. I mean, probably not, but a man can dream. right?

Valo487
I'm surprised that anyone isn't super excited about this set, to me there is so much win in this one even if you're not a fan of the individual characters. I have an appreciation for all the characters in the set, but the overall package as a whole is what really really does it for me. I'm not a huge fan of the cosmic portion of the Marvel universe, but the Heralds of Galactus and the other two we just got in wave 15 are so well done that I can't help but just appreciate how good they are. This corner of the Marvel universe, the dark corner if you will, hasn't been represented very much so far but I love the fact that we're getting four characters from it and that they are so well done on top of that. I hope this isn't the last time we go here. Zach, any chance of a return visit?
