I think it would be nice to know what everybody first dropped for their first "hit." Guess I will start the ball rolling. The first mate I got was actually two full sets, including the variants, of BSG wave 1 at $9.99 (Canadian ) each. I came across an article on them and pre-ordered a case after obsessing over Black Elektra lol. I can't remember exactly but it was around $60 bucks =) Great thread idea btw! I was obsessed over them from the first moment that I saw a promotional pic on the DC Direct website. I didn't think that the line, generally, was much more interesting or cool than the Pocket Heroes line, I just wanted Beetle and Booster. I got them for about 7 dollars from the local comic shop. . .and then returned a couple of days later to get the packs with Hal Jordan, Batman, Superman, and Starbuck. . .it's all been downhill from there. I of course passed on the black spidey pack they had, not knowing how rare the damn thing was, and have been kicking myself in the ass ever since. I got violently ill and spent two days in bed. I don't think it was the mates though. The next one was Daredevil from ebay for around $5. DD was the last MM I was going to purchase by the way. I was poking around on eBay and happened across Spidey and Carnage. I forget the price, but it wasn't bad, so I went for it. Then I decided I needed all of Spidey's villains. Venom, Gobby, Doc Ock and Rhino all followed. Then, I found Minimates Central and saw how much was out there. (I think we were up to wave 5 then) When I saw that I had all the bad guys up to that point and got a look at Slythe's custom Shocker...well, between Danny and Slythe, someone will answer for the thousands of dollars sunk into the Minimate brand. A month later I had many more and was searching ebay for earlier sets. I wasn't a toy collector before Minimates ... and I had never read a DC comic book before Minimates.
