MsMarvel fan
love that Shroud! he's been on my workbench for far too long.
hellpop
I knew you were doing the Sandman, since I saw the sculpted mask in one of your workbench shots, but boy did he turn out well. You should do a whole "superheroes in dress clothes" series-- Sandman, Crimson Avenger, the (comics) Spirit, Midnight, the Phantom Reporter.... Now where's Argh!yle!? Hawkeye's Junk
Nice work on both, love any WC Avengers
boyd
Thanks, everyone. Years ago (2008 to be exact), before suit pieces were so abundant, I did a bunch of suit-wearing bad guys, like the Rose and Purple Man and Tombstone. Sometimes I wonder if I should revisit them, but that I just think about how they're Spider-Man villains, and therefore much more likely to get an official release someday, so why bother? boyd
Hey look! More customs! First up, DC Comics mystic Sargon the Sorcerer: Next, DC Comics villain Shrapnel. This one was inspired by lastmaximal's Shrapnel custom. As usual, more images, recipes and my thoughts can be found on my customs site. Fujis
Shrapnel is stunning, Boyd! Well done!
boyd
More new customs! But first, I redesigned my customs web site, so you should check that out if you're interested. And now, customs! Customs like a new bulky Solomon Grundy! Customs like Sleepwalker, inspired by youbastards' great Sleepwalker custom!: And customs like my Tiki Ghosts, using the deformed copies of my Charitymates tiki mask!: More pics and the recipes can be seen at my newly-redesigned customs site. luke314pi
I didn't see Shrapnel before - he looks amazing! And the Tiki ghosts are really fun, especially the GITD shots on your site.
jcastick
Please tell me the Tiki Ghosts Glow in the Dark!
boyd
They do indeed glow! Forgive the poor image quality. I didn't have the right equipment to get a really good shot. If and when I mess with glow-in-the-dark paint again, I'll figure out a better way to shoot the customs.
minimadman
I would go with a black light to take pics of glow in the dark stuff.

hellpop
Too cool, Boyd. Mega Rage Solomon Grundy is great. Your DC customs always make me wistful for what might have been. Love the site redesign too. Happy Anniversary! BTW, I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this, but your site was the first place I can remember seeing Minimate customs, way back when I first started getting into the little bastards. I can remember going through the pages and saying "I want that one... and that one... and that one...". Edited October 19, 2012 by hellpop
boyd
Thanks, Hellpop. Sometimes I get wistful when I look at all my customs and think about all the things I could have been doing instead of making them... And minimadman, I'll try a black light next time. Thanks for the tip.
boyd
More customs! Obscure Spider-Man villain and his robot (kinda)! Spencer Smythe, the original creator of the Spider-Slayer robots! Why create robots only designed to slay spiders? Massive phobias about spiders. And a Spider-Slayer robot! This is my own design - never been in the comics - but I'm calling it a Spider-Slayer because I don't know what else to do with it. As always, more pics, recipes and other stuff can be seen over at my customs site right here.
karamazov80
Why create robots only designed to slay spiders? Massive phobias about spiders. Makes total sense to me. If I had genius level intellect to be able to create robots to perform various functions to assist society, I would probably choose something like "kill spiders" as their purpose, as well. Jeff
That Spider-Slayer custom is amazing boyd. GREAT work! I think I used those same boots for my AOA Jubilee.
boyd
Happy Halloween! In the spirit of the season, I offer the following new customs: Ardath Bey from The Mummy! Just think - if he'd been part of the Mummy MInimates, we'd have gotten our first Minimate fez! The Remco Mini-Monsters! The 3 3/4" monster figures form my childhood now as Minimates! And they glow-in-the-dark! (find out more about the Remco Mini-Monsters here) Check out lots more pics, the recipes and my usual babble over at my customs site. Shanester
I had the Remco 3 3/4" monsters, too. That Ardeth custom is awesome. I wish we'd have gotten him.
Jeff
Awesome work Boyd! What is that brand of glow in the dark paint? Can we see a glow in the dark group shot?
boyd
Can we see a glow in the dark group shot? Best I've got: Even with a blacklight, I couldn't get a great shot of them glowing. My camera is crap when it come to low-light settings. As for the paint, I ordered mine from GloNation.
Mystery Man
I don't know how I didn't see those Remco Monsters and Ardeth Bey before. Love them all!
MiniFiend UK
Wow over a year since a post in here. Only really bumping this to ask a question. Boyd have you done an Xmas themed custom this year? I always liked your holiday spin on a character.
