I love Green Day. And Five for Fighting. And Nickelback. And The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. And Simple Plan. And Seether. And Black Stone Cherry. And finally, Evanesence.

I really like Ramallah's song: Days of Revenge. I also really like Switchfoot's song: Oh! Gravity. And Slipknot's song: Psychosocial.

I'm old-school. KISS (LoooooOOOve gun!), Bon Jovi (OHHHHH We're halfway there, ohhhOH Livin' on a prayer.), Queen (Scaramouche, scaramouche, can you do the fandango?), Poison (How can I resist?), Michael Jackson (No one's gonna save you from the thing with 40 eyes girl), Eagles (Such a lovely face...), and Frank Sinatra (Yes it was My Way.).

Some newer stuff that I like are Muse (Burn, you will burn!), Dragonforce (On a cold winter morning, in the time before the light...) and, well, not much. New music kinda sucks.

I like some songs by Bon Jovi, like Livin' on a Prayer.

My favorite bands are Disturbed, Metallica, Slipknot, Korn, Three Days Grace, Three Doors Down, Breaking Benjamin, System of a Down, Iron Maiden, the older Linkin Park (there are a couple of Linkin Park's newer songs that I like), etc.

Basically I like hard core/alternative/metal.

Oh, and I can't stand rap or country. Rock all the way! :D

Allison Krauss (all), Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Hot Waffles, Dean Martic, Frank Sinatra, the 007 soundtrack collection, Metallica S&M, Terminator soundtracks, TF:TM and random anime crap and/or other songs make up essentially my entire collection.

Remember, you can't spell crap without rap. But I grew up on country (North Georgian, born and raised) so I like country.

Man, why is everyone so down on country? I was raised on old country. The new stuff is too much like everything else for me, but places like 97.1 remind us of what country should be.

But I have rarely met anyone aside from people in my neighborhood that like country (on Sunday afternoon everyone works in the yard/on their cars/whatever, and all the radios around here are turned up and tuned into 97.1) But every time I mention it, I get flack. Just try saying you's like a country version of guitar hero. See how fast you get jumpped on. It's insane!

I'M not down on country. I LIKE country. Nelson, Brooks, and Willaims forever! Oh, and Cash if he is considered country. I really like Johnny Cash. Add him to my list.

Ugh. "Bands." :P I do not like listening to people trying to "sing" unless it was a recording from over fifty years ago, or a choir, so my list of faves is composers. Never bands. I have a few favorite orchestras (London Symphony and Seattle), but in terms of groups...nada.

I greatly enjoy:

Jesper Kyd (SOME of his...a lot of it's just noise)

Clint Bajakian (oldies, but darn goodies)

Jared Emerson-Johnson (small body of work, but good stuff)

Pyotr Tchaikovsky (I'll admit, I don't listen to as much classical as I should, but when I am, it's Pete)

Harry Gregson-Williams

A "duh" one: Martin O'Donnell (and his sidekick, Michael Salvatori)

John Williams (to a point)

Steve Jablonsky

Hans Zimmer

Kevin Riepl

Of course, Koji Kondo

Yoko Shimamura

Shawn K. Clement

Jeremy Soule

Mark Griskey

Randy Newman

The late Jerry Goldsmith (God rest his soul)

III (They only arrange works, true, but they do a good job)

Inon Zur

...and that's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

Ben Folds

I used to be a Ben Folds freak. I saw the Ben Folds Five in concert right after I graduated high school (1998), and it was one of the best live shows I've ever seen, which is saying something (I LOVE live music, and have seen a lot of it).

My favorites are all over the place:

-The Police (favorite band of all times)

-The Beatles

-Tom Waits

-Slayer

-Astral Project

-Chick Corea

-Tony Rice

-Bela Fleck (with or without the Flecktones)

-Bill Evans (pianist)

-(the Amazing) Jimmy Smith

-Thelonious Monk

-Queen

-Gram Parsons

-Wilco

-Ray Charles

-Ministry

-Parliament Funkadelic

-The Jackson Five

-The Pixies

-Randy Travis

-Marvin Gaye

-Throwing Muses

-The (Funky) Meters

-Acid Bath

-everything in-between

Nice bands and artists, MoC! I love the way Mrs. Spektor sings. And the Sha Sha Album by Mr. Kweller was sweet as well.

And brother karamazov is into Monk, hm? (And you wanted to be minimaterized with an issue of ISQ in the other thread. You're getting more and more interesting, man!) Anyway, Monk is outstanding, no question. Even though I love Miles Davis and John Coltrane (A Love Suprem is awesome!) as well. Do you know the

? Svensson died tragically this summer, just two weeks before I'd have seen them live for a second time. The are the most groundbreaking modern jazz trio I've ever listend to!

Next to these jazzers I do love

Sufjan Stevens

Broken Social Scene

Mogwai

I love Pendulum at the moment. I'd never been into Drum and Bass until I heard them. I saw them 'in concert' about 2 weeks ago and it was the most epic gig of my life.

I also love Funeral for a Friend, Lostprophets, My Chemical Romance, and now not so muhc, but Green Day and Bullet for my Valentine, all of which I have seen live.

My all time favourite artist is Sam Duckworth, better known as get cape. wear cape. fly.

Most of the bands I listen to are already mentioned here but I'd just like to add some Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Beck, old-school Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, The Smiths, The Who... not to mention all the great local bands here that I love. I also have some stuff by My Morning Jacket, Massive Attack, Joy Division and The Roots. (I guess I also have some wildly random tastes.)

Also, I just got myself some albums by Elliott Smith and The Cure today... am about to load them onto my iPod for the holidays.

Well I'm a hip hop head myself, mostly underground stuff that isn't played on the radio. Yes "crap" as most people call it. I don't like country music so much, but I don't say it sucks, because it it good music and there are lots of talented country singers, I just don't happen to like listening to it. I also like some rock bands and a little jazz, but it's 92% hip hop on my ipod. So here are some of my favorite groups:

Linkin Park/Fort Minor

Blink 182

John Legend

Radiohead

Aesop Rock

The Perceptionists

Beastie Boys

A Tribe Called Quest

BDP

Common

De La Soul

EPMD

Wu Tang Clan

Hieroglyphics

Jurassic 5

Talib Kweli

Symmetry

Mos Def

Nas

The Procussions

Rhymefest

RJD2

The Roots

Nelly Furtado

Mobb Deep

Blackalicious

BS

Now these two are total awesome pwnage on a stick (to quote a friend of mine.) I add one here: Weird Al's Ode to a Superhero. Spider-Man fans need to hear that one.

I am a musician myself and I have some seriously diverse musical tastes. That being said, I'd have to say my favorites bands are...

the Ramones & Kiss

I have hundreds of CDs and picking one or two (or twenty for that matter!) favorite bands/artists is a horribly unfair endeavor. I feel like I've just betrayed the rest!
