  1. of the two cases I bought (518 of 1450, and 707 of 1450), I managed to luck out enough to have no QC issues with the humans and only one Alien with two left feet. And interestingly enough, all 4 battle damaged Aliens had their feet switched. I thought at first that the wrong feet had the tampo, until I looked at the promotional images and realized that the foot with the blood is supposed to go on the leg with no blood. Apparently the factory people assembling the mates thought it looked better to have the bloody foot on the bloody leg (and I would have agreed). Anyone else notice this?
  2. My first post in this thread, since I usually don't get enough stuff at once to warrant posting a pic. But since the recent deluge resulted in me getting three separate orders in one shipment, I figured I finally have something worth showing
  3. The most recent tease for what is most likely leading to Marvel's upcoming Secret Wars storyline: http://www.newsarama.com/22444-next-marvel-2015-teaser-x-men-years-of-future-past.html Which makes wave 60 that much more sweet and fortuitous (or perhaps purposefully planned?) And on a personal aide note, there's just something about seeing Art Adams drawing that era of X-Men...
  4. We're also assuming that the movies will stick completely to the comic elements. They could always take liberties far from the registration act being about super powered people. It could become about anything of a political nature. In that respect, it doesn't matter how many heroes there are - even just two would be enough to have a devastating outcome of they butted heads strongly enough...
  5. I don't want to start speculating, per se... But I get the impression from that response that it's something they are also wanting to do. Usually if the answer is no, we'll hear a "never say never", or "not at this time", or Chuck will conveniently just skip over it. But to simply say that it's a good idea...? Makes me think there's something in the works, or at least they've got an idea for it somewhere down the line...
  6. I saw it last night and loved it. It has some work ahead of itself, but it definitely had a strong premier and I'm definitely hooked. Certain moments felt a little hokey, and I was getting a slight 90's network sci-fi vibe in certain places (like the very last scene, for example), but there was much more to like about it than not. I'm eager to see the father/son dynamic develop more, since a lot of superhero stories tend to make the father more of a negative influence, if the father is even present at all. Is it just me, or did Arrow's cameo seem a little off? He came across kinda cheesy with his more 'inspirational' comments, and overall just felt a little too optimistic/sympathetic from what I've come to expect from his performance on his own show. Anyone else pick up on that, or is it just me?
  7. Thanks for clarifying that, Zach. I'm not sure what quote I was working off of, but I was under the same impression as CBMM1. And, sorry if I missed this (I went back and checked, but couldn't find anything on it), but with the characters that will "eventually appear elsewhere", will they be blind bagged as well, or are they getting the traditional 2-pack window packaging?
  8. I'll echo the "I understand the business angle but dread what it means for me individually" sentiment. I sincerely hope that DST finds success with this license because it has been on my dream list since I started collecting Minimates (specifically the original cartoon and comics versions that I grew up with), and if this release does well, it increases the odds of us getting the 80's/90's versions later on. However, I also kinda fear what it might mean to the future of Minimates if the 'blind bag/multiple retailer exclusive' marketing dynamic proves profitable. It might just push me clear off of the completionist bench and limit me to only picking up the ones that can be easy to find for a reasonable price...
  9. That was my big takeaway from this news. I love the hunt, but the blind bag aspect of this license kinda drove me to just hit up a preorder of the case with the (now foolish) reassurance that spending a little extra to get duplicates would secure a full set with little hassle. Now it looks like I'll either be spending a ton of $ I don't have on blind bags from different retailers, or I'll be spending a ton of $ I don't have on the secondary market to avoid getting duplicates. The hunt just got a little less enjoyable...
  10. I thought it was interesting to see all of the Plants vs Zombies merch in the middle of the main aisle. Very front-and-center, and plenty of sets on the pegs:
  11. There aren't out yet, right? That pic is fr DST's Instagram...
  12. Got mine in as well! I was trying it on my phone earlier and kept hitting a road block with viewing the shopping cart and also with trying to enter my payment method. But as of tonight (on my desktop), everything went through without a hitch!
  13. This. Also, am I understanding correctly that the sketch cards are all hand drawn (no prints?). Very very cool.
  14. The Warburton/Tick news seems reasonable to me, but the Wesley Snipes stuff is pretty unbelievable. I'll hold out hope for the return of that great Tick show that was cut off far too soon, but I for one am eager to see Marvel do a full on reboot of the character (complete with new actor) via their Netflix outlet...
  15. Sheesh, Luke. If you keep raising the bar like this, it's going to get tough for DST themselves to keep up I can't pick a favorite accessory out of this set - the decals are inspired, and the webbed-up base is incredible. You definitely did not disappoint!
  16. ^^ This. I have yet to play Garden Warfare, but PvZ 2 has kept me company on many flights and various other trips, and while I never thought of having mates of this particular property, when these were announced, I was ecstatic. I know these aren't everyone's cup of tea, but from the perspective of someone who doesn't get the draw of some of the other recently announced lines, I for one am glad to have something other than Marvel that I do get excited to have
  17. ^ This. Karen Gillan is gorgeous, even when bald and half robotic. and when over acting =P I caught my first viewing last night. I have nothing new to say that I haven't read on here already, aside from reiterating that if they were to make a Han Solo movie, it would probably feel a lot like this. Peter Quill is nice balance of Mal Reynolds and Han Solo, Groot is a bit like Chewie, Yondu is not too dissimilar to Jabba. Though honestly, I was a little disappointed not to see Yondu going off on some blue zombies... and lastly, I also have 3 loose Yondu mates if anyone still needs one. PM me
  18. Speculation seems to be pointing at Squirrel Girl becoming a little more popular in the future. Perhaps a 'mate of her is close at hand?
  19. Woo hoo! What a day for it, too! Happy Birthday!
  20. I love Minimates because the moment I saw them, my imagination unlocked in a new way. They gave me a creative outlet that I hadn't really considered before, and I immediately fell in love with. They are a form of art that inspires art.
  21. That is a pretty cool set of gifts! I love seeing candy from other countries, and those buttons are a very cool gift idea!
  22. I will never understand the appeal of Minecraft (aside from the world-building aspect of it). The graphics approach is so rudimentary, that even my childhood perspective (which was defined by 8-bit and 16-bit awesomeness) couldn't justify the polygons. It makes me scratch my head incredibly hard to think that the same kids who love to bash Goldeneye (N64) for its graphics could then flock to Minecraft. BUT, regardless of the logic behind it, Minecraft is a massively successful property. The merchandise sells better than I would ever have believed...
  23. So glad to see Minimates getting love on a variant cover, instead of just Legos Yeah, I'm totally down for one of these too!
  24. I got home from work today to the beautiful sight of a birthday package for little old me (I had actually forgotten that my birthday was coming up, so it was a wonderful surprise!) Sorry for the poor photo quality. My dslr is broken, so I'm making due: To start off, there were no clues whatsoever, aside from the return address and the festive elephant drawing. At first I was completely stumped as to who my anonymous gifter was... But as soon as I opened the package and saw what the gifts were, I utterly forgot myself and started laughing giddily as it sank in that I had been given like five times what I was expecting, and all were mates that I hadn't been able to get ahold of when they were released: The entirety of wave 53 (Thor: The Dark World), TRU Wave 16 Hawkeye & Black Widow, Alice (The Madness Returns), Red Translucent Vorin, a replacement Infantry Gun for my Cap movie Hydra Soldier that managed to lose his during an outdoor photoshoot, and a pack of Runts & Bottlecaps (two of my favorite candies). Seriously, I was anticipating so much less than this. I was blown away by how much I got, and the fact that they were all things I needed to fill parts of my collection! Then it came time to figure out who I owed a HUGE thank you to. And as soon as I realized who it was, it made sense why there were no clues aside from the elephant head and the return address Thank you SO MUCH, Shogi! Dude, seriously, this is a wonderful birthday gift! did you request to get assigned to me, or was it a coincidence? Either way, your generosity is deeply felt. I am extremely grateful! (oh, and here are a few fun pictures, just because) Just a couple more exclusives to go!
