youbastards
You gonna pick this up Justin? Ripley? Most likely...will probably grab some extra parts too, to mix with the iminime gear. Did you see Sideshow will be producing Marvel comic 1/6 figures? Wolverine, Punisher, and Deadpool were revealed/announced.
Twisted Two-Face
Didn't Hot Toys HAVE Star Wars rights? They made Bespin Luke........ And, oh for fuck's sake. Is that a new Commissioner Gordon and John Blake? And STILL no Ra's? Jesus Christ, man.
karamazov80
I did see the Marvel announcement/shots. I was initially very excited about brown Wolvie, but the weird costume changes and face are making me think twice about it. I guess they're getting the same "interpretive" treatment that GI Joe received. In general, I just don't have much for anything SSC is doing 1/6-scale-wise. I might get the Hoth Han and Luke if the production versions are good, though. Regarding the HT Star Wars license, the big difference between Bespin Luke and the new announcement is that before, HT was piggybacking on SSC's license, and SSC was no doubt getting a cut of their sales. Now, it looks like they've cut out the middle man, so HT may not be hamstrung by SSC having to approve what they're doing, or getting a cut. I personally wonder if the onslaught of recent classic Star Wars stuff from SSC isn't related to this, as if they're trying to capitalize on what profits they can still make before HT starts really raining on their parade. Apparently Gordon and Blake will come with the rusty Bat-Signal. Edited July 24, 2014 by karamazov80
luke314pi
The Optimus with Starscream parts was already an odd combination, but they also have another version of Optimus with Megatron parts: Starlord head sculpt: And Drax... Is it just me, or does this figure look terrible?
youbastards
I think the body and tattooing on Drax looks great, but the face needs some emotion. Glad they didn't go with the rubber arms for Drax. Pratt looks good, but the headphones are the wrong color. Drax does look a little scrawny, when compared to Bautista. Looks like they didn't create a new body, but adapted an existing one? His arms need to slouch more, too, Not sure what's up with the Decepticon parts on Prime, was he known for taking trophies of his victims? Kostisfire
-Gamora and Drax are meh to bad. The other 3 though look phenomenal. I may just buy Star-Lord and the combo pack, and wait either for the price to drop tremendously on the other two, or buy them when GotG 2 comes out. -Is Prime diecast? If yes, he's going to cost a pretty penny.
Shanester
Drax needs way bigger shoulders. Bautista has massive Traps.
karamazov80
The Hong Kong prices for those figures were shown somewhere. Prime will cost more than the Mark III. Significantly more than Marty or Starlord. Probably around $300.
Shanester
Any idea on price of MKIII? I may use SSC points and get him. I want at least one good movie TM figure.
Twisted Two-Face
Chris Pratt may have one the greatest head sculpts Hot Toys has ever done, it's *exactly* right. Whoever sculpted that one should be sculpting all of the heads. Perfect figure.
karamazov80
It does look good. Any idea on price of MKIII? I may use SSC points and get him. I want at least one good movie TM figure. Here are the prices: SSC US prices will probably be marked up, but according to that, Marty should be about $185 in Hong Kong, Mark III would be $255, and Prime would be $280. Maybe estimate a 10-15% markup over that?
Twisted Two-Face
Only $190 for Star-lord? Really? Wow, in terms of current pricing, that's really great, especially considering he has two head sculpts. Sweet deal.
karamazov80
Well again, those are Hong Kong prices. SSC charges an extra premium. My guess would be around $220 for Starlord.

karamazov80
Now we're cooking with bacon grease.
youbastards
Yep, lots better. Is this going to be your first 1/6 with dolly hair?
karamazov80
My first was technically a custom Beetlejuice I made, but that's gone now. This will be the second (or third if Aliens version comes out first), though I plan on doing sculpted hair to replace it.
UK Collector
In a bind with GotG. Id love Groot, Rocket and Star Lord, but the other two don't look great to me. I'm not sure how id feel about having an incomplete team, or alternatively having 2/5s of the team be sup bar (IMO).
youbastards
I love the Gamora, this close up shot is one of the most impressive likenesses I've ever seen in 1/6 scale.
karamazov80
FYI, if anyone pre-ordered the battle damaged T1 T-800, today SSC is giving triple rewards points on certain Terminator items (including that one). You can use it along with the coupon code COMICCON14 to get basically $55 off. Yeah, Gamera looks pretty great to me. Batista's body seems a bit off, though. youbastards
Hoping they tweak Drax between now and release, because I'm all in, can't have just 4/5!
UK Collector
But the hair! I really don't get why they do rooted hair for the females.
karamazov80
Because collectors like to pose them with their pretty Barbie dolls, brush and style their hair, etc. . .an aside, my daughter recently got a Rapunzel doll from Disney, and brushed her hair so much that it looks so raggedy and messed up I hope I can resist the temptation to do the same with Ripley. UK Collector
I'm now picturing a scenario at K80s house where Ripley gets invited to a dollies tea party, and brings along her flame thrower, prompting awkward looks from Rapunzel, Barbie and co.
