Like yourself I love Bond but Minimates work best (& sell well) when the figure is personified by costume & uniqueness.

'24 is the perfect example,take Jack Bauer away from his '24' packaging & ask someone "Who is this figure ?" My bet is they wouldn't have a clue. Try it with Iron Man or even Blue Beetle & at least you'll get "....some superhero guy". I have said all this before & I don't blame you for trying to resurrect enthusiasm but these are 'dead in the water' .

My advice is buy a C3 Stealth Batwing* which includes a very under-rated Bruce Wayne figure which apart from a 'dipp-shit' expression on his face is a great basis for 007. After all 007 is a guy in a suit with a gun.

*The cheapest classic Minimate set ( $ per fun value) which sells for about $10 !!!!

On reflection here are 2 characters that would work........so I'm probably wrong :ohmy:

We can see that, though i thought Asian WOMEN worked for men!! :lol: I would love the gold plated beauty from Goldfinger, though.

Seriously, i am a Bond addict. Right now there is every single one on my ON Demand free movies screen just waiting to be watched, and i love this idea. But, like BHM said, they wouldn't go too well unless you were a die-hard Bond-er. And no, BHM, i don't need a Chemistry joke. ;)

Personally though, i would buy them for a Roger Moore and Sean Conery, as well as EVERY villain they produce, as well as a few Pussy Galores... B)

Nice idea, but no cigar.

  • 3 weeks later...

If I had a Bond villain name, it'd be Ivana. Ivana Humpalot. :P

Seriously though. I am a HUGE Bond fan. I'd say Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger are the 3 in highest demand. You could pack the times in with awesome Q gadgets, lots of accs. Yeah, i could see this working. The only problem is though that Minimates just doesn't have the demand to hang onto movie licenses. We lost the Rocky 3 set and the 24 3 set. We barely finished BTTF3 and GB&U. I think 3 Bond sets is about as good as it can possibly get, and we may be pushing it at that.

Thinking about it, Bond would really only work well if they either had enough money to sink into it to do a TON of custom gear sculpts or if they decided to do vehicles (which have never gone over well the way I see it).

I mean, I think they could get enough Iconic characters from both new and old Bond because other than Mr. Bond, enough of them have an iconic look that could easily be abstracted down into a mate while communicating a message. For example, they could do a 2.5 inch overscale, add a bit of silver to the mouth design and have a simple yet effective Jaws figure. A Blowfeld would be easy enough to do on the "clothing" paint alone because the only person in main stream film that looks anywhere near like him is Dr. Evil (IMHO).

They are going to be hobbled with the plain looking Bond, which is why I think they'd have to make him good toys to make him neat to play with and pack him with a good mix of iconic characters. Look at what they are doing with BSG for example, there are a lot of characters there who just don't stand out unless you put them into context with a cylon or a colonial uniform or whatnot.

Le Chiffre was pretty iconic. At least his eye was. And Drax in his spacesuit would look cool. And let's not forget topless Scaramanga!

Quasi-evil. Semi-evil. The diet co-ke of e-vil. :D

Mini-spam...;)

What i would do, IF we could get licensing, would be a few boxed sets, and two exlcusives:

Bond Variant and M(Judy or the old man, i don't care)

Bond Variant and Q(With many, many toys!! ;) )

The box sets could probably have a bond variant, two villains from different films, a bondgirl(the most demanded, since the sets would be limited), and an army-builder henchman.

But, that's just me.

Okay. I'm going to do a list here. Because if I don't I'll just go crazy. This is what I think DST should do. Chuck, are you paying attention?

All information and pics garnished from http://www.jamesbondwiki.com/

007 - Dr. No box set

James Bond - black tux

Honey Ryder - white bikini w/knife (upon threat of death!)

Dr. Julius No - gray suit, funky hand

Q - I know this is a flub, as Desmond Llewelyn didn't appear till FRWL, but he deserves it

007 - From Russia, With Love box set

James Bond - black stealth gear

Ernst Stavro Blofeld - bald head, scar, pussycat, all that jazz.

Red Grant - the real villain of the movie IMHO

Tanya Romanova - classic costume

Gadgets:

* Q Branch Briefcase

* The LEKTOR

* MI6 Beeper

* Armalite AR-7 rifle

* Walther PPK

007 - Goldfinger box set

James Bond - white tux w/jetpack

Auric Goldfinger - new heavier set piece, yet not Kingpin-girth. He needs a laser to kill Bond with.

Odd Job - the hat! The fricking hat!

Pussy Galore - it was either her or the gold chick. Personally I wouldn't mind having the gold chick.

Those are the 3 I think could make it. FRWL is obviously missing Rosa Klebb. M would also need to be worked in there somehow (Judy Dench please), as would R, Jaws, General Ouromov and Boris Grishenko. A wonderful Goldeneye set could look like this.

007 - Goldeneye box set

Bond (Brosnan) - suit, watch, the whole nine yards

Alec Trevelyan - scarred face

Xenia Onatopp - Amazonian combat gear, right before she's "always liked a good squeeze"

Natalya Simonova - Cuban dress or uptight Russian garb? Decisions decisions...

Gadgets:

* Grappling/Laser Gun

* Explosive Pen

* The GoldenEye

* Walther PPK

* Browning Hi-Power

Okay, so I'd want them all. It just ain't gona happen. :/ 3 could though, right? Possibly 4? Gah! it's maddening. Okay, now I'm on a serious Bond kick. Thanks guys. :P

I just want a Baron Samedi Minimate. I never saw the movie he was in, but I always picked his crazy ass in "Goldeneye" for the N64. He looks like some kind of crazy pimp, though I think he is supposed to be a voodoo master or something.

He barely appeared in that movie. But that was the weirdest ending of a Bond film yet.

I think that if there were to be bond mates the two newest films would have to play a major role meaning you are more likely to get a Daniel Craig mate than a Sean Connery mate.

If the do Bond, they're doing Connery. Now Craig instead of Brosnan or Moore, that I could see. You could probably do QoS and Casino Royale into one set:

James Bond (with gun or two)

Le Chiffre (with Rope O Death. I wake up in a cold sweat dreaming about that damn rope. It scared me more than any horror movie ever could.)

Dominic Green (Not sure about him. Haven't seen QoS)

Vesper Lynd (ummm... Briefcase of Cash?)

Then a couple of two packs to get the other major guys in:

Leiter and Mathis

M and Camille

Maybe throw in Mr. White with somebody. He seems to be everywhere.

That pretty much covers Craig

Yeah, I'm more inclined to have her as well. A quasi-chromed gold female booby-- er, body minimate. That'd be great. In all honesty, I never liked Pussy Galore. She never did anything for me. Now, if she'd been played by Erica Gavin... Yeah, whole 'nother story.

...your back on my Christmas list :thumbsup:

Aww, thanks. I wub you too. XD

In all seriousness, thanks for taking the time to look over that. I put a lot of hard work into that list.

He was in Live and Let Die.... (we are talking about the skeleton guy right?)

Le Chiffre (with Rope O Death. I wake up in a cold sweat dreaming about that damn rope. It scared me more than any horror movie ever could.)

Then a couple of two packs to get the other major guys in:

Leiter and Mathis

M and Camille

Maybe throw in Mr. White with somebody. He seems to be everywhere.

That pretty much covers Craig

And now to finish this:

Green will come with an ax and an Oil Can :lol: If you've seen Quantum, you'd understand

White will pair up with that guy Green tried to put into power during Quantum

And here's another theory on how to do Bond minimates. In each wave, you pick an era. Say, the Craig era because that's what I'm most familiar with right now (Been awhile since I've seen Connery's movies.) Three Two Packs and Variant. Bond with a villain or ally. Then the other packs are a Bond girl and a villain or an Ally. Variant is on Bond That's the easiest way to do it most completely. EX with Craig era:

James Bond/Felix Leiter

Vesper Lynd/Le Chiffre

Camille/Dominic Greene.

Variant: James Bond in trenchcoat from QoS/Leiter

To complete the two films from Craig's era you'd need a M, Mathis, and Mr White. The rest of the characters are pretty minor after them. I include White because, after QoS, I almost expect him to be Blofeld for this organization. He always seems to get away.

Another example: Connery Era Part I:

James Bond/Red Grant

Honey Rider/Dr. No

Pussy Galore/Goldfinger

Variant: Fake Bond who gets Killed by Grant/Grant

I'm not so sure about the rest of Connery's era.

Moore Part I:

Bond/Baron Samedi

Solitaire/Mr. Big

Goodnight/Scaramanga

Variant: Bond as Scaramanga (Complete with 3 nipples!)/Samedi

Brosnan Part I:

Bond/M

Natalya Simonova/006 aka Trevelyan

Wai Lin/Carter

Variant: Commando Bond from Goldeneye/M

Brosnan Part II (Because I know Brosnan well):

Bond/Christmas Jones

Elektra King/Renard

Jynx/Gustav Graves

Variant: Bearded Bond from Die Another Day/Jones

Nothing personal Trek42 but that's a horrible idea... you have differnt movies all muddled together and it's a mess!

Not just my opinion, see this thread from back in Jan.

http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.ph...ost&p=61572

The 4 Pack: Bond, Villain, Bond Totty, Henchman seems to work for (almost)every film in the series and some great examples are given in the thread linked above.

The hardest one for me to pin down to just 4 would be diamonds are forever. I'd probably have to go for Bond, Tiffany case, Wint and Kidd. as they are the stand out characters.

I suspect your suggestions for full waves would leave a lot of figures on shelves, would people really impulse buy those other sets without a bond? I suspect not.

Exactly. that's the same thing i suggested earlier. I just really don't think these "sets for every mobie" ideas would float well with DST. I figured that the fans pick three "fav" movie sets, and two exclusive two-packs (one of Bond/M, one Q/R). Any opinions??
