2 updates in one week! Actually, expect relatively more frequent updates over the coming weeks as I make a determined effort to finish off WIPS, some of which I've had on the go for over a year. First up, Yellowjacket. In the absence of 3" Minimates from my parts box, I adjusted a 2.5" body by adding height at the ankles, waist and mask, so he's now just a fraction under 3" Everything is sculpted, except the 'wings', which are made from a cut-up plastic card, and the antennae, which are just cut up wires. Longshot was a commissioned piece. Non-standard parts include Blade's belt and Nina Myers hair (modified at the back). The collar and bandolier are sculpted.

Well, my Smallville 'Justice' 'mates seem to be the most popular thing I've done on here, and probably my personal favourites. Now that they're in someone else's collection, I decided to revisit the idea. The first two are based on the episode 'Apocalypse',

an alternate reality in which Lex is President and Clark has to disguise as a reporter to smuggle himself into a press conference

. Both use Patch jackets, and Clark's hair is sculpted over SM3 emo Pete's.

ApocalypseLexClark.jpg

Obviously, I needed a basic Clark, and again Luke Cage's jacket and Jay Garrick's beltpiece served me well. The hair is modified from one of the Tony Stark pieces from IM Through the Ages. Martian Manhunter uses Jack Bauer's coat, and Black Canary has SM3 Eddie Brock's hairpiece (again, slightly modified). Martian Manhunter also looks really cool on the red transclucent flame base from IM Through the Ages.

JusticeLeague2.jpg

I went for a slightly different approach for my new Bizarro Clark. Starting with a basic Clark face, with a bit more evil expression, I painted half of it to look like the familiar cracked visage. This way, I can eventually paint a face on the back of the head so it can double as a red-K Clark. The hairpiece is from one of the Movie Iron Men, and the jacket is from SM3 Eddie Brock.

BizarroVer2-1.jpg

In 'Identity',

Jimmy figures out Clark's secret and Oliver has to don this costume to throw him off track

. The head is modified from Helo's, and the cape is cut down from M'Bison's. The hood is sculpted.

More Smallville on the way soon!

EDIT: I realised the pics were tiny, so replaced them, and I forgot to post Snake Eyes. He has a removable Lego motorcycle helmet visor, Deathstroke bandolier (with Blade's sword and scabbard and Punisher's holster on the back), an Ultimate X-men belt (with Punisher's knife stuck on) and a cut-down Brickarms submachine gun. I wanted a simplistic look for this custom, so aside from the add-on parts, there's no painted detail, it's a black blank under there. This weapons-fest looks slightly less impressive if you've seen the Deadpool concept art, but in my defence I did mine before I saw it.

Looking great, Graham. you know that i am a big fan of Smallville and your Smallville mates, ang they just coulndn't be any better quite frankly. Love that Canary, although they need more of the league than just Ollie in this season.

And, with what Tenime said, he's right. We'll see the roof break, we'll see a VERY quick scuffle between him and Clark, and then he'll grab Chloe. Followed by credits and a preview, of course. :(

I'll say one thing though. If there i two mates i want to see you make, it'll be "Him," not to give away "his" name :P, and Tess. Tess is probably my fav of the season, and "He" will just look cool.

Isn't there a mid-season break after this episode? I hope we see enough to get a decent look. I can almost start a custom based off the trailer, but need a little more. Twisted Two-face, I'll probably go with your idea of using Movie Hulk, but if he's black I can use the Powerhouse chest and a Civil War Spider-man mask over another Minimate body and head

for a quick-change from Paramedic Davis Bloome

. We'll see. I'm not a fan of Tess at all really, but maybe I'll try and complete the cast at some point.

Yes...this isn't the season finale, just the "winter" one... ;)

Graham, that secret identity feature would be awesome!!

I don't know if he'll be black...it could just be shadows concealing him in the previews (god, I still cannot believe how close they got him to the comics!! That almost never happens, especially with

bestial

characters like that!!

Movie Blackheart, anyone?

)...

Here's a few new ones. Leonidas has been in the works a long while, I just wasn't happy with the helmet. Originally I had one that was permanently attached to the head, and whilst it was a bit sleeker, I wasn't sure about the sculpted beard I'd used. In the end, I modified a Magneto helmet. The cape is cut down and sculpted over a C3 quick-change Batman one, the belt is Frodo's, and the shield is modified from Invisible Woman's. The spear is a cocktail stick with the tip from a harpoon from some sci-fi model kit.

Leonidas.jpg

James Bond often crops up on people's custom lists, but I wanted mine to be a little different than the usual tux. He's based on one of the fights in the middle of the Casino Royale poker game. The gun is from a 24 set, and the hair is modified from Civil War Spider-man's. I'm fairly pleased with the Daniel Craig resemblance.

JamesBond.jpg

Iron Man is heavily inspired (copied) from TBT!'s recent Warmachine custom. I liked the slimmer chest armour, which was basically achieved by cutting the corners off. I then proceeded to add several layers of red ink. I also re-did the gold with yellow ink, just to tie him in with the rest of my Iron Men.

IronMan.jpg

The Stormtrooper from Star Wars is another project that's been on my desk for a while, and he's still missing a blaster rifle. The helmet is made from the front of a SW Lego one, with the back fully sculpted, so it's removable. It is quite bulky, but the angle of the photo accentuates this a bit. The belt is Nick Fury's, and all the rest of it is painted on.

Graham do you do any other kind of painting outside of minimates? Your painting style (which I have always liked) seems to show you have a background in art.

Same thought here. The shadows and different layers of colors you use seem to qualify you being "arty" :) Your customs have a different way of outlines - not as sharp, edged and to the point as the originals. For that, they look a little more impressionistic in some way. More Monet, less Lichtenstein. Very charming!

Anyway, nice work Graham! I really like the Leonidas with his cocktail stick!

Thank you! Whilst I'm by no stretch of imagination a qualified artist of any kind, it is a hobby of mine. Some of my stuff can be found at my deviantART gallery. I moved onto painting Minimates from Warhammer 40k models, so that might explain my preference for layers of colour.

Anyway, I'm having a bit of a paint-a-thon tonight, so here are a couple more newly-finished ones. Davis Bloome has a jacket cut down from one of the 24 ones (I cut the middle section out).

All the sections of Doomsday are removable and can fit over Davis.

I finally found a use for all those cheap Lady Deathstrikes I picked up, as Spikes for Doomsday. Some of them are just sculpted, but most are Deathstrike fingers. Unfortunately, the episode didn't give us enough of a good look at him to be very accurate, but this is my impression.

Lois Lane has a hairpiece sculpted from scratch. I'm not actually sure exactly what colour her hair is, it seems to be different in every photo of her. Green Arrow is a new version, a little bit more detailed than my last, and I prefer the face on this one. Expect the rest of the Justice League to be hot on his heels.

The stuff you kept as a secret in that gallery is pretty impressive. I like the Clark Kent / Superman transformation a lot. And a question on the incredibly Avengers pic: what did you use for your Thor custom? Head and hairpiece? I like that very much, since I do love the Ultimates' Thor appearance.

And: Ha-ha:

There's some cracking stuff in your gallery & your Leonidas is an absolutely spot-on likeness.

I spotted Leonidas' spot-on-eness before you, BHM!

This will be pretty much it as far as this batch of Smallville goes. There's a few characters, like Lana, Tess, Jonathan and Martha Kent that I haven't done, so maybe one day...

I switched the head of my 'Apocalypse' Lex onto a movie Tony Stark body, with the shirt and tie painted black. Lionel has one of the old lab coats, and Baltar hair. You might recognise Rocky's face under there, it didn't need changing much.

LexLionel.jpg

Chloe is probably one I should have made a lot earlier. She has Power Girl's hair and Iron Fist's belt.

Chloe.jpg

Cyborg has a hood cut down from Training Rocky's torso. The belt might be a Razor Cylon one, not sure. Aquaman has DCD Batman hair and a hood sculpted from scratch. Supergirl has DCD Supergirl head, Firestar hair and a BSG dress uniform belt. Impulse has DCD Flash's hair, or a hood which I completely sculpted. The ends of the arms and legs are semi-transparent, which was the best way I could think of to represent the blur of his super-speed. Anyone else have any thoughts on that?

CyborgSupergirlAquamanImpulse.jpg

I've waited far too long for a complete Smallville Justice League. Watch them add more characters now.

FullJusticeLeague.jpg

Here's a movie-style Doctor Octopus from Spider-man 2. The coat is modified from Blade's, and the arms are Lego ones, drybrushed silver. The hair is sculpted.

DocOctopus.jpg

EDIT: The Thor has 24 George Mason head and Power Girl hair. At one point, it had a DCD Bruce Wayne head and BSG Starbuck hair, which also looked quite good. I also used Rocky 2 Rocky belt and boots, Mr. Fantastic legs and BSG Gina arms. The hammer was a parts-box build.

Wow. The stuff in your gallery is actually amazing! I've always been a fan of your customs as you know, as I own several, but this artwork absolutely blows me away! It's fantastic.

I especially love the Escher stuff. He is one of my favourite artists.

Your new customs are great too! Nice to see you back making customs.
