  1. See, although the images are great and I will buy the set, it is hard not to feel disappointed that "my" favorites aren't being considered or used for this set (Inferno, Inhumans, Traditional GOTG). Also, it took me a second to look at Kitty and realize that was the cover image costume since I usually associate her with her Sprite outfit or the Green M jumpsuit in this story. I hope you get your sets some day. Traditional GOTG are currently off-limits, Inferno is getting more obscure by the day, and the Inhumans are a tough sell as a box set. But Ask DST! This Kitty changes into her green outfit, if that helps. But that jacket is pretty distinctive on the cover. Perhaps they were underwhelmed months ago as well. Debuting pictures of no new characters surely wouldn't change that. I honestly thought I was underselling it, but a handful of people seem more underwhelmed than they were before. VIOLENTLY underwhelmed, I would say. I think it's a good looking set, and comes at a great time. But a quarter inch of extra coat is apparently a dealbreaker for some people. I guess I just don't get it.

  3. I'm really torn on this Thanos Imperative ML set. I decided some time ago that i was done with Marvel Legends. It definitely hasn't been 'all bad' since Hasbro took over, but the character selections haven't done a lot for me. The paint apps haven't always been great (i'll concede that they have improved), and the constantly dropped characters and variants had begun to dampen my spirits. When Jim Lee Jean Grey was announced, I bought and said 'This is it - this is the last character that i desperately wanted. I'm out'. I was happy - i'd gotten a lot of great characters that i'd really wanted & Jean Grey was one of the last 'Must haves'. Then they announced the Jubilee build a figure set. . . . aaaaand i was back in. Stryfe, X-Face Cyke, Now Storm.... all great looking figures. But then Thanos Imperative is announced. As an X-Men fan, i really want that Gladiator, but i don't know if i want to pay $100+ for him. I'm actually a little surprised that he has been placed into a box set that spans so many families. A lot of the previous sets have focused on a single Marvel group, but this is a story-based set and so it encompasses Fantastic 4, Inhumans, X-Men, & Guardians. Hopefully i'll be able to find a Guardians/Inhumans fan or Inhumans fan who doesn't care for Gladiator and wants to sell him off, but i suspect he's actually going to be the most popular character in the set and will not be going cheaply on eBay I was a bit dirty that i ended up having to re-buy 4 other characters to get the only ML Rogue that ever came out back in the ToyBiz days. I hope This isn't the start of a trend for Hasbro.
  4. 11. Black knight 12. Grey Gargoyle 13. The rest of the Inhumans (Medusa &Karnak etc.) 14. Red ghost & his super apes 15. Redone Ironman Mark 3 armor 16. Batroc
  5. Cap and Ronan for the 2-pack for me! Thane and Thanos need to be in this set. I love this Hulk design, and was seriously contemplating getting the Marvel Universe/Avengers Infinity Gold Platinum Hasbro 3 3/4in version I love it so much. And we all need another Iron Man. Ronan would work in a TRU wave with some more Inhumans, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. Cap's armor is cool and it would be cheaper to buy extras at the 2-pack price. Or, Cap and Ronan can anchor a 2nd box set with a new Carol Danvers and just about anyone else!
  6. He's probably important to the Inhumans book, if that's still happening
  7. Infinity is getting a tru poll. Yeah, but didn't we also have 2 AvX boxsets 2 years ago? SDCC with the Extinction team and TRU fanpoll with some other characters You are correct. But are there enough Infinity related characters for both a poll and a 4-pack? Thanos Thane Maximus Black Bolt The Black Order (Ebony Maw, Black Dwarf, Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Supergiant) The Avengers (Carol Cap Marvel, Ex-Nihilo, Nightmask, Starbrand, Abyss) The Illuminati (Doc Strange,Ape-Beast, Namor, T'Challa, white suit Reed, Godkiller Iron Man) The Inhumans Now, we could get these in a SDCC set: Doc Strange (Illuminati-a new costume) Ex-Nihilo (Avengers-new character) Thanos (Bad Guy-much needed update) Nightmask (new character) And have these in the poll: Carol, Maximus, Stabrand, Namor, T'Challa, Proxima Midnight Thanks for clarifying, but wasn't Watcher in the first issue of Original Sin? Maybe I'm mixing up character names. I'm trying to think of major storylines that have obvious holes or are in need of an update. Are any of the iconic storylines having a milestone anniversary this year? AvX is still missing a phoenix five Namor and Magik. Uatu was in Original Sin 0 along with Sam Alexander and in OS 1 for a few pages before being murdered.
  8. You know, I asked for Infinity figures in an AskDST and Chuck said that it wasn't that possible to happen. The next month I asked what where the chances of a new Thanos being released and I got a "never say never" response (i think, but i'm not 100 % sure). Funny thing. Anyway, I predict these will be the characters in the poll: Thanos (Bulked up) Thane (the main reason the story happened) Captain Marvel (Carol's new awesome costume and seeing as she's already staring in her own book and is joining the Guardians it makes sense) Maximus the Mad (one of the key players in the story along with the rest of the inhumans) Ex-Nihilo (one of Hickman's new creations and he kinda paved the way for the story) And maybe Starbrand, Nightmask or Captain Universe My picks though would be: Thanos (Duh) Carol (Double duh) Maximus (triple duh) Ex-Nihilo (I just loooooove his design)
  9. My wish list: X-Men Weapon X (with helmet) Banshee (Giant Size version) Sunfire (Giant Size version) Forge Blob Pyro Avalanche Toad Silver Samurai Hulk Abomination (bulked up) Planet Hulk / World War Hulk (bulked up) Spider-Man The Amazing Bag-Man Avengers Black Knight General Marvel Blackheart Runaways Next Wave Inhumans Stan Lee (a civillian one and maybe a 4/5-pack like Deadpools Assemble! box) Relaunch Gambit (90's) Storm (90's) Juggernaut (bulked up) Thanos
  10. Space characters!!! The Shi'ar, Inhumans , Starjammers. I'm dying for Imperial Guard and Kallark
  11. My impression reading thoughts elsewhere is that a lot of casual fans do feel the way you do TM2, as apparently lots of comic movie fans have never read FF, and if they did, it probably wasn't the classic stuff. But undeadpool is right--they had dated comics, but so did the Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, and DC. . .oh, DC. DC's comics through the mid-60s or so were pretty freakin' bad across the board. Fantastic Four reads like a great Hemingway novel next to those. But the Lee/Kirby stuff had heart, humor, and charm, as did the bulk of the earliest Marvel stuff. The characters were totally likable in the best way! And that run was the origin point of some of the most iconic characters and situations in the history of Marvel--Doom, the Skrulls, the Kree, Silver Surfer, Galactus, the Watcher, the Inhumans, modern Namor, and of course, the Yancy Street Gang. The John Byrne run hearkened back to the spirit of the early comics, focusing on the family dynamics and mystery, action, and excitement. He was clearly reveling in the joy of writing a comic book where there were no real limits to what he could do. Maybe I'm naive to think that that stuff is universal, but I really think what Marvel Studios has done is tap into the essence of classic Marvel--embodied, and perhaps personified best by the Fantastic Four. What Iron Man and Avengers were? That's what Fantastic Four should be like on the big screen. Not half-assed comedy from the Director of Barber Shop, not the joyless convoluted mess of Man of Steel, but what Guardians of the Galaxy seems to be. And as I think has been proven pretty well, audiences do want that kind of thing.
  12. Surprised we've never seen more Inhumans.. a case can be made for Crystal as one of the more prominent characters never to get one. I would like all the DD characters but am lukewarm on all civilians, even Foggy, Ben Urich and Karen Page (even if it was a junkie version). All joking aside, although I would in no way say Spider-Man's corner of the universe has been neglected there is still a sick number of characters and variants I'd like to see. (2099, Scarlet Spider, Prowler, etc)
  13. I agree with all of this. I'd also like to add The Inhumans to this conversation.
  14. Chris, Joe Mad is working for Marvel again. A recent arc of Savage Wolverine and now the upcoming Inhumans book, I believe. And I agree, an Iceman with 1) ice spike armor, 2) exaggerated ice fists/claws/blades, 3) an ice "tail" to swap out in place of his legs, and 4) no mouth would be SUPER keen. He MIGHT even force me to go back and get the AoA box sets I skipped. Bobby in his white and blue would be cool, no pun intended, and I'd likely display him separate from everyone with his MvC counterpart, the Capcom Sentinel. Hell, one could be the variant of the other, each packed with one of the Madri (I was so upset I never figured out that was the plural of Madrox before it was revealed)
  15. For me on the comic side - continuing on with Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova, Deadpool. Hopping on X-Factor, haven't read any Peter David stuff in awhile. I used to grab EVERYTHING he wrote (I even bought some Little Mermaid comics), but got a little burnt out on his writing (and some of his grudges). Trying out All New X-Men for a few issues while it ties with GotG. Giving Inhumans a go, but it's already delayed a few months from the original planned start date. It's Madureira though, so I'll enjoy the art whenever it comes through. New Warriors is definitely for me, hopefully they'll capture some of the fun of the original book. I really liked Avengers Arena, so I'll be following the story to Avengers Undercover. Silver Surfer looks fun, I'm in. Books that I'll buy the first issue of to see how they are - Black Widow, She Hulk, Wolverine, maybe Loki. As for Minimates - bring on the New Warriors!
  16. http://www.artasylum.com/2013/10/ask-dst-228-more-minimates-more-questions/ Nobody mentioned the Q&A posted 10/24? Some good answers in there. Nobody pulled out their Man Thing questions for that one. Would love to see more Inhumans, and the mention that it sounds like they never even considered Army of Darkness sounds weird. (Because I'm sure they were referring to Batman 66 as the only one asked that they had actually looked into) EDIT: Also, in the new AA Blog 11/15, I thought I saw a Man-Thing, but it was just a Alien Bottle Opener. http://www.artasylum.com/2013/11/new-items-in-previews-godzilla-aliens-and-captain-america/
  17. Ok, so sticking to the question who is the most important character than hasn't been made I'd have to pick between these three: Banshee - Longevity, has been featured in multiple mediums, and the last X-Man from the Giant Sized team that hasn't been made. (Sunfire technically has a mini). Crystal - Longevity, has been in every major team of the Marvel Universe (Inhumans, FF, Avenger, X-Men Associate). Black Knight - Longevity, has been in multiple teams (Avengers, Heroes for Hire, MI-13, Defenders, UltraForce, Excalibur)
  18. It is sad but Crystal is one of the most connected characters in the Marvel U and the most ignored. She is an Avenger, Fantastic Four, and Inhumans. She married into both the X-Men and into the Cosmic Realm. She's an easy custom but still would love a major release regardless of the costume. Aleta's light based powers would make for great accessories but again no one remembers her. You should get the trade of GOTG for Jim Valentino's run. I remember loving that book. Why not just make a Banshee two pack with both Teresa and Sean. It could even be a theme! Captain Marvel (Carol and Genius), Banshee (Theresa and Sean), Wasp (Hank Pym and Janet), Hawkeye (Kate and Clint), a carol and genis set would be incredible! and, if we're talking captain marvel/gotg/quasar/ignored characters, a phyla-vell and moondragon set would be a dream come true for me

  20. I think comic Guardians of the Galaxy figures are as close to a lock as you could guess considering the movie. That isn't to say any specific character will get made, but I would put money on some of them being made. And the Inhumans are one of the great, untapped Marvel teams that I'm sure DST will eventually get around to if they are around long enough (arguably the second most important team to be mostly ignored by DST/AA so far after the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants).
  21. Wow! This announcement has sure sparked a lot of debate and we haven't even seen the 'mates yet!! lol Anyway, guess I may as well throw in an opinion while I'm here. I'm kind of mixed on it actually. As one of the people who is frustrated by the current preoccupation with movie and Marvel NOW releases, it is nice to see some older stuff. Unfortunately the older stuff I want to see is more from the '70's and 80's so as a non-"X fan" and someone who didn't read comics in the '90's this set holds little appeal for me personally. However, that isn't DST's fault of course, you can't please everyone and obviously there are plenty of people to who this team means a lot so that's fair enough. I'm also sure they will look cool and I'm pretty sure I will buy it when I see them. Having said that, I do agree with those who think it's a surprising choice of theme. To me the X-force corner of the MU seems to have had a fair bit of attention already (I appreciate their fans will say not enough lol) whereas there are other teams that have had very little or none, eg inhumans, guardians of the galaxy, west coast avengers - even the brotherhood if we are talking "X" related - and which also would give us plenty of new characters. With there seemingly being quite restricted spots for comic releases at the moment it seems a shame to me to see 4 characters we already have, and certainly surprising to me that we will have 2 versions of some of these before we even have one version of so many other (to my mind) higher profile characters (Cable being the exception of course). However, despite not being particularly enthusiastic about this set I still like the fact that minimates do give us such surprising releases and it gives me hope that the non A-list stuff I want to see made still has a good chance of getting a turn one day soon. I could probably do with DST employing a 1970's avengers fan really...
  22. That's a really fantastic idea for Heroclix since the game bases make the individual characters kind of ugly to display. Not sure it would work for minimates though. Not just because of the cost of the display but also how it would be packaged: If the Inhumans are a tough sell as a boxset, is it going to be any easier to sell them packaged with a $20 piece of plastic?
  23. Here’s my thought process: First we have to divide the characters into buckets. If we are talking the franchises we have: Fantastic Four (Power Pack, Inhumans*, etc.) Avengers (New, Mighty, Young, et al.) Thor (Hercules, Asgard, Olympus, etc.) Ironman Captain America (Timely Comics, All Winners, Invaders) Spider-Man (Silver Sable, Black Cat, Venom, etc.) Hulk Namor (Yes, Regina we are trying to make Fetch happen) X-Men (Uncanny through X-Babies) Wolverine (sure he’s an X-Man but he is his own machine churning out Alpha Flight, Lady Deathstrike, etc) Dr. Strange (most magic) Cosmic Defenders (Silver Surfer, GOTG, Quasar, Infinity Watch, Space Heroes) Marvel Knights aka the street heroes (Daredevil, Moebius, Black Panther, Heroes for Hire, Moon Knight, Punisher, Cloak & Dagger, Ghost Rider, etc.) Where sticking points lie are the cross character/world books. For example is Namor really a franchise or is he an Avenger, FF, X-Men or is Daredevil a franchise and Marvel Knights live under him? New Warriors has connections to every corner (Night Thrasher – Marvel Knights, Nova – Cosmic Defenders & Fantastic Four, Namorita – Namor & Fantastic Four, Speedball – Spider-Man, Firestar – Spider-Man, Avengers, X-Men, Marvel Boy/Justice – Avengers, Cosmic Defenders, and Fantastic Four.) Runaways is the “spirit” sister of New Warriors bringing in all of the corners of the MU. Titles like Cloak & Dagger started in Spidey, drifted into the Warriors, X-Men, and the Knights which are basically the street heroes. Based off of characters I would say that surprisingly, The X-Men are still neglected considering the sheer amount of spin-off titles that have been associated with the franchise. X-Men can also be argued to be Marvel's main franchise especially for a good 20-25 year chunk. I would rank Avengers second missing staples like the Masters of Evil, several members of their lineup, Young Avengers, and connections to space heroes. Third would be the Cosmic Defenders no GOTG, Genis, Eternals, MoonDragon, Pip, etc. Four Spider-Man Villans factory. Then Thor. That being said, my love is the Teen heroes set and i would be happy if I finally got my New Warriors completed. We have a Firestar, Cloak, Dagger, Nova, Penance (if I have to ). I would could live with that if I got a four pack set of Marvel Boy, Night Thrasher, Speedball, and Nita. Sure Rage and Sil are missing and I need an updated Firestar but at least I got one.
  24. the most neglected of the major characters is yes probably Daredevil but I guess the one i'd like to see more attention for is the Guardians of the Galaxy, who i now consider to be major characters we really need to see: (pretty much anyone cosmic) Gladiator Ronan Supreme Intelligence Groot Starlord Drax (modern) Rocket Raccoon the rest of the Inhumans Mantis Rom or other Space Knights Nebula Korath Yondu Vance Astro Charlie 27 so SO many more
  25. These things aren't on my wishlist. my wishlist has a ton of Spider-Man, Hulk and Avengers stuff before the cosmic ones. Cosmic has always played a big role in the Marvel u. The Pheonix Force. The Infinity Gauntlet Saga. Infinity. Galactus appearing every other week. And there are many classic stuff that are still missing. The Starjammers. Death's Head. The space knights. The Inhumans. Marvel is pushing the cosmic stuff a lot lately (infinity, ex nihilo, inhumanity, the silver surfer getting his own book, gotg) so i would say that we still miss a buttload of stuff. Ad to that that most of these things tie with the Xmen, the ff and the avengers. The Shi'ar tie with the xmen. GotG tie with the Avengers. The inhumans tie with the ff.
