  1. Welcome Back! Great to see you (at least your words) on here again! I almost gave it up a few times myself, and was just recently contemplating throwing in the towel on collecting ... but then I saw the Muppets, and Nightmare Before Christmas images, and am pretty Jazzed about them! Still no DC :-(
  2. I've always been in for this type of thing. No need for the whole cast, maybe just the main good guy/bad guy. Or just a few of the characters, like an all-star team. Heck blind bags would work with this as well (dodges tomatoes). I'd go 70's/80's --- battle of the planets, and star blazers, voltron, dungeons & dragons, bravestar, silverhawks, tigersharks, Blackstar, the centurions, Crystar etc... Between Luke and Lobsterman, they've each done some nice 80's toon custom sets. I'd like to see full lines for Hanna-Barbera, MOTU, GI Joe, M.A.S.K., Superfriends Voltron also, but how to package? one 2-pack for each vehicle and rider, blind bags? boxset? Mostly colorful characters which look awesome as minimates ...... but is there an audience?
  3. This is super duper tough. So many brilliant marvel mates. This would be easier for me if it was favorite minimate of all time (its not Marvel) My wife always teases me when i say something like "that guy was my favorite" or this guy was one of my all time favorites". So when i show her something she always say "let me guess, he's your new favorite?" lol. Its true, I change my mind so often, depending on what my interests are at the time, or even what season we may be in. Having said all that, I think there is one minimate that has continually impressed me from the second i got him. It was a minimate that I actually passed on, but then years later needed his chest cap for a custom. I liked it so much that I went out and bought another one just to keep at my desk. I'm not even a real fan of the character, or bad guys in general, But the "Iron Monger" minimate from the iron man movie wave is so good. For a bulked up figure, I feel it moves very well. Very smooth, and doesn't get hung up on itself or fall apart, like other bulked up figures. He just looks so nice, I always find myself grabbing him and moving him around. Not m favorite, but in my opinion the best Marvel mat made up to this point. Here are my top 3, with two other perfect minimates. 1. Iron Monger : Wave 21 2. "Bucky" Captain America : Heroic Age boxset 3. Iron Man : Best of wave 1
  4. Anyone see this? SDCC 2015 KRE-O G.I. JOE Sgt. Slaughter Marauders vs. Destro Iron Grenadiershttp://news.hisstank.com/2015/06/22/sdcc-2015-kre-o-g-i-joe-sgt-slaughter-marauders-vs-destro-iron-grenadiers-54826
  5. Granite Run TRU had these. I managed to snag the last set, haven't seen them since.
  6. This will be the first time I'll be buying a case of minimates... if I'm able to, are these going to be at comic shops? This would be my dream wave 1, if I made one. Hopefully get them in time for Christmas.
  7. Gorgeous! Been waiting to see this done, and you did not disappoint man!
  8. I really like these a lot! this may be what i need to pull me out of my miminate lull.
  9. My guess is that the mountain may be her way out of the slammer.
  10. I have about 100 of these, I have always found sellers on ebay. i do a search like "super hero blocks" hero blocks" hero bricks" etc... i never put lego into in. there are tons of these auctions... unless its the brand new series, i usually get them for under $10 for anywhere from 6-10 figures. usually with a double or two mixed in from previous sets. its hit or miss, but i dont care because they are so cheap, and it takes a long time to get them (3-4 weeks usually). Its actually a surprise for me when a new package shows up. they are mostly ok, some are excellent, and some are terrible, but the good ones definitely outweigh the bad ones. I'm currently waiting on the new dc wave, with Hawkman< to show up. last month i got the thor set, with his helmet (which lego hasnt done yet) my advice. have fun with it, don't over pay, and be patient for stuff to show up.
  11. I like them........... but they probably won't last as KS and Jay figures. I see me taking some sand paper, hobby knife, green stuff and paint to these figures. Atom Smasher and Optimus Prime, here i come!!! ....... maybe even Voltron!
  12. I'd probably pay up to $300 for the HAll of Justice. I sold off all of my modulars about 2 yrs ago (had the 1st four sets) which cleared up all kinds of room, so a nice HOJ would fit perfectly in my (and my son's lego room) He has the green lantern and black manta sets, and i'm going with bootlegs for the rest of the figures for now.
  13. me too man, i'd be all over that! Blue Beetle is in my top 5 hero costumes of all time! I'd love to buy a super friends style hall of justice modular building as well .... and maybe legion of doom HQ
  14. LOLC'mon man, without great villains how will you know how heroic everyone else is?? You can't have a Hulk Hogan without Roddy Piper! I thought it was a terrific show, minus the badly choreographed fight, which was jarring given the consistently high quality of the show across the board otherwise. Bronn got cut by the sword of one of those damn snakes, which to me is possibly much worse than the Sansa scene, because Bronn > everyone else. So... Sansa's scene = Roddy Piper smashing a coconut over Jimmy Superfly Snuka's head, while on Piper's Pit ... I'll allow it..... but i agree, I want him to be dead ... soon ...
  15. Welcome... If you are lazy, i must be the king of procrastinators! I've been around from the start and don't think I ever introduced meself yet... maybe one of these days I'll get around to it.
  16. But.... what if they used to sell tacos... and they were my favorite food from Wendy's or any fast food place, and I only ate their burgers because I loved the tacos so much, plus I was already there anyway and wanted something different every once in awhile. So,now, if Wendy's only sells something that I only kinda liked, why would I keep going back? I like to customize, but its getting harder to turn a burger into a taco... ;-) Here's the deal, I only read one marvel comic. If I'm being honest, I only truly care about a handful of Marvel CHaracters. The ones I still want, like Hyperion, Gladiator, Nighthawk, all have the look for what I want in a superhero, capes and masks, and super duper power, etc... just not enough capes in Marvel. The thing that has kept me going for so long is that i love the minimates as toys. and i love to customize them into Stuff that i like (which mostly will never be made by DST. I've been holding off on doing any DC mates customs (besides chroming a few helmets and such) because i really want them to bring back the tacos... ahem... i mean the DC comics license. I knew about, or at least heard about what the holdup had been in the past, and figured with new people in charge it was only a matter of time. I don't feel that way anymore. My gut is telling me its never going to happen again. So, as i said before, with every con that comes and goes, my enthusiasm for new stuff goes down more and more. I do love minimates, and have probably a few thousand at this point. There are tons of customs i still want to do. So, I'm not really going anywhere, I just don't see myself buying too many new ones from now on. Unless .... never say never, am i right? -NR
  17. I hate to be negative with anything, especially on a toy forum (especially in a thread about optimism). For me personally, I'm afraid i'll be out of minimates altogether by the time the license comes back. It actually brings me down more every time a con comes and goes without any DC comics minimates (I'd also like animated) to the point where I'm losing interest on stuff that I'd love otherwise. I really like the looks of NBX, and I'm sure I'll love the Muppets, but the lack of DC (please don't bring up Gotham) has me down on even these. I went to free comic book day to my usual shop over the weekend, planning on getting the brotherhood wave. All they had left was a blob pack, he said the whole case moved pretty fast which is good for them...... but for me, I shrugged my shoulders, put the blob pack down and moved on..... for the first time since i've been collecting mates i truly didnt give a shit that i wasnt able to get them. and its a pretty sweet wave! I can say honestly that 75% of that is for the constant lack of DC minimates, which flat out disappoints me. I don't know, or pretend to know what the hangup is, but it just seems like a no brainer to pump out DC minimates. My personal feeling is that its got more to do with just licensing. oh well, Thats all from yours truly, Debbie Downer
  18. We need to organize and get behind the Avengers vs Squadron wave I proposed. I'm onboard with supporting this 1000%. I want the whole Squadron Supreme, but would kill for a Hyperion?Nighthawk 2-pack! My vote goes to: 1. Hyperion 2. Nighthawk 3. Squirrel Girl
  19. Was there anything mentioned or shown that had to do with The Muppets during the panel or at the booth? my apologies if I have missed anything.
  20. I don't watch the show but that's great news that ze Leaper is getting exposure. Would love to see a classic Batroc minimate. I haven't collected Marvel Legends in years but still went out of my way to pick up a Batroc once I found out he was made. Any chance Attuma or Super-Adaptoid are making appearances on that show? Attuma is in a bunch of episodes as part of a league of villains
