minijeff
This was emailed to me from Minimateespos phone as he left the minimate panel Originally marvel was supposed to be imported kubricks Marvel toy biz is y they are 2inches Minimates are considered parody so no likeness, only studio approval needed for movies so all ok Writer's Strike killed heroes mates, also 24 Ghost rider was a "stolen" mate someone from the production factory was selling no ghost rider license offically dead Iron man 2 won't have as many parts Italian American? Line not said Back with street fighter mates were to be made less sexy as per capcom DC wanted 2.5 digger didn't want that mates are mates no scale They knew all the skrylls 6-8 months before they and marvel picked which skrulls went in More classics boxsets marvel Stores like toys r us transworld etc need to know we want them so they tell dst they want to orde the mates and sell them Build a figures are our still count as 8 inches over license limits Mates maybe down the road of extra pieces to make an extra mate or no bigger than 2.5 Def more tru exclusive, there is something coming. Every wave there will have a spidey or wolvy, but new exclusive mates thrown in variants only at specialty shops Glider may be a possibity, maybe no yes or no answer Wave 27 doesn't tech have a number yet Ghostbusters look awesome Godfather mates, waves and boxsets def announced as toy fair hush hush apparently Sent from my iPhone Minimateespo25 via Minijeff Edited February 6, 2009 by minijeff
Turtle
Godfather mates? That seems like a weird choice.
MINI_MYTE
Did DST have prototypes of Marvel wave 27 on display at the panel or will they be shown at their booth? What was the 12:00 PM minimate giveaway? I'm guessing the Godfather mates will be 4-packs like BTTF, etc. Edited February 6, 2009 by MINI_MYTE
groundhog7s
Although I appreciate all info, I'm feeling kind of under-whelmed. I'm now really looking forward to Toy Fair where there should be more definitive news and pics probably.
Jad
Godfather Minimates..... I'm excited, but nervous. First of all, I love love LOVE the first two movies. Absolutely classic films, and I'll buy any GF 'mates they make. But, I'm a little concerned we're going to have a 24 rehash here. Are there really that many iconic looking characters? Mostly a bunch of guys in suits, which we've seen before in Minimate form, and that makes me nervous. Hopefully they'll be able to get all the core characters out in the first few box sets. Finally, a horse head accessory would be the bees knees!
buttheadsmate
Finally, a horse head accessory would be the bees knees! Finally something for the Street Fighter fans .....something to flog. Godfather Mates? I'm not sure on that one....yet!
karamazov80
I'm also a little cautious about the Godfather 'Mates. I guess they have marketing experts and data to tell them what might or might not sell, but when it is a bunch of civilians in suits. . .as Minimates, I don't know. Thanks for the update Espo and Jeff! Edited February 6, 2009 by karamazov80
arnim zola
What are they trying to say about street fighter? And are we to take this as george brewer wanted all dc mates to be 2.5 inches and thats why we are not getting more, because the guy doesnt understand scale? Other than that, I think it is fairly informative. I knew toybiz had something to do with the 2 inch rule, and now that they are gone there is a possibility of a glider. Interesting... Jatta Pake
Can I request that all future breaking Minimate news be this cryptic and unclear? This is far more fun. Tell your friend thanks MiniJeff! We appreciate the info and we know how hard it is to text on a tiny phone.
infallible
The writers' strike killed 24 and Heroes 'Mates. That's pretty interesting. Very disappointing, but interesting. I wouldn't have thought that tie-ins like that would have been affected that much. Maybe if Heroes can manage to get good again, we can get another shot at them. But I'm still missing that Chloe figure... :-(
groundhog7s
stupid writers stupid Capcom stupid Toy Biz stupid DC In the words of Kuni in 'UHF', 'YOU'RE SO STUPID!'. Good job screwing it up for everybody. I hope you're happy now. Edited February 6, 2009 by groundhog7s
Lobsterman
So we just need sexier minimates, and no line will ever die? Dammit, I knew they should have done Chloe in a bikini!

Instead, we'd have probably gotten Jack in a thong. I don't know where the gun holster would be, but I wouldn't want to know. Thor's hammer for that matter....can he fly without it? He doesn't technically "fly" with the hammer. He straps it on his wrist, and throws it. he just holds on to it and tags along, so to speak. But can Thor fly without it? I am inclined to think that he can't .

In Norse mythology he also had his 2 badass goats that pulled his chariot. But again, no flight. So yes. I would consider that a vehicle Edited February 6, 2009 by Docholliday666
