I know, I know...but I'll let others guess this one my fellow tanker;)

My favorite finally made it.....Airborne...he was always in my first 3 picks when we chose sides for the backyard wars

I dig Airborne, too, and I like the fact that this figure has a sort of Native American face. A lot of people hated Spirit for his face, but I really dig it. Makes him distinctive and somewhat ethnically accurate.

I totally agree with you on that, the cobra eel is super slick looking too. There are only a few guys left for me to be made , out of all the ones released, and the ones shown here. if they make dial-tone, wetsuit, blowtorch, recondo, and monkeywrench, I'll be happy, and can stop with those and not feel like I am missing out on anything after that...oh, and a Dress Blues Gung-Ho

I'm with you on Wet-suit, Blowtorch, and Recondo, though I'm also Jonesing for a decked out Ripcord, Footloose, and Alpine. These may have been announced already, but I don't recall hearing about them. After most of the pre-86 figures have been released, similar to you, I'll have pretty much all that I need. I'm guessing that Hasbro realizes that this is the case with a lot of collectors, and will draw out giving us those last few for a while. Only after the wave with Star Brigade will they give us Blowtorch :)

Ok since no one else jumped at this...he is probably the one Joe I want the most now that they are making him...it is specialist Trakker....as in Matt Trakker from MASK!! I just bought the first VHS of the old MASK cartoon and have really been toying with hunting down the old MASK toys....maybe once this Matt comes out it'll be the final straw on me doing just that!

I think releasing him is really cool. I have a bunch of MASK figures at my mom's place, and really loved the yellow and purple guy with the green helicopter/motorcycle when I was a kid.

Come to think of it, MASK were some of my first mini-figures, along with the stray "army man" and "MUSCLE" toys.

Dammit, now I'm going to have to go home and hunt all those MASK guys out of my closet, and try to find somewhere to keep them here. Damn you and your nostalgia-inducing power, Hasbro!

I agree with you guys, I'd love for this to be an ongoing thing, with one guy sprinkled in evry wave or two. On the "other" board it seems the die hards are hating the idea to the max

M.A.S.K. was the shit, I had just as much fun with them as I did GI Joe..............now all I need is a Crystar the crystal warrior and I am set :D

Y'know, I never had Crystar, but I did have the lava man that he fought, and I liked using him as a "bad guy" for my Super Powers toys. He was pretty bad ass.

Just found him on eBay:

I also had this comic, which has a terrific cover with one of my favorite childhood comic characters:

That is the extent of my Crystar knowledge.

sweet, I actually found him and warbow not too long ago, and once I get some new blue and green blanks......guess who is getting made?

they used to wander into my joe-verse when the lava guy attacked, and save the joes from him!

I'd love an updated release of them

My parents got rid of most of my toys when we moved countries in 1990, so I can honestly say I haven't once thought about MASK in about 18 years, but I really loved that yellow guy with the bike-copter too! If they remake him (especially if it was with the bike) I would want one for sure...

I don't remember much about MASK though -- was it tied into GI Joe somehow, or is Hasbro just randomly throwing it into the Joe line because they have the license sitting around?

hasbro bought kenner, the makers of MASK years ago.i read somewhere that they had even said they were going to start popping in other MASK characters in the Joe line as well.

No, it didn't have any connection whatsoever to GI Joe as far as I know. The only connection seems to be that MASK and GI Joe are both boys' toys from the 1980s. Some have speculated that this figure could be a pilot to test interest in more MASK figures, but I haven't heard a real justification from anyone at Hasbro. It may just be a cool, one-off deal, but like you, I would love to see "yellow and purple guy," as well as Joe-scale transformable vehicles.

Any idea if the wave with the BATS has been released yet? I need one for a custom, but haven't seen them at Wal-mart yet. I am contemplating collecting these. I used to have just about every one when I was younger. Unfortunately someone went in my basement and stole my collection one day. It still pisses me off. Would it be hard/expensive to catch up on the line? I'm not looking to get every character, but mainly the ones I liked when I was younger.

Sorry to hear that someone stole your collection. That really sucks. The BATs first came out a little over a month ago, I think (possibly a little longer). However, they are probably the single hottest U.S. toys out right now after the Movie Masters Batman figures. You can get them on eBay, but they seem to run for around 12-15 bucks a piece, not including shipping. I just got 2 cases of that wave in at BBTS, so I'm psyched to be getting those soon (Snow Serpents, too!).

Regarding catching up on the line, the price is going to depend on which figures you want. Some of them (regular Flint, 1985 Snake Eyes with Timber, mail-in exclusive Doc) are more expensive than others (Tiger Force Flint, 1989 Snake Eyes). But they aren't hard to find online. If interested, I actually have an extra of this 5 pack that I can send you cheap (around 20 bucks plus shipping) if you don't mind them loose:

http://www.oafe.net/yo/gij25joe.php

I also have a few others that I am willing to sell at cost. PM me if interested, though you can actually get some of the less popular Joes cheaper than retail on eBay.

Here are some relatively cheap ones from BBTS:

You can also get some from Hasbrotoyshop.com. Be sure to use pony10 or another coupon when checking out, if you do:

Also make sure that the ones you are interested in aren't actually pre-orders (look at the "availability" date)

  • 2 months later...

FYI, some wave 10 figures are in stock on Hasbrotoyshop.com, and the wave 11 figures are up for pre-order! :buttrock:

I can't wait for that Zartan, Eels, and Matt Trakker.

Or is it Zartan? Looks like Storm Shadow from here.

Anyone know if they've remade that desert soldier guy yet, for the new line? Can't remember his name so I can't look it up, but I think he was a Joe, in yellow-brown camo, war paint on his face, and a helmet with a cloth hanging on the back that was actual fabric...

I haven't seen him in any of the waves that showed up at my LCS, but I easily could've missed him, or if he was in any con photos as an upcoming release I wouldn't have seen that... anyway, just wondered, since he was one of my faves back in the day.

I think you mean Dusty. He was just released a few weeks ago, but if you want him, you have to buy the "Arise Serpentor, Arise!" DVD pack. Both BBTS and Hasbrotoyshop appear to be out of stock, but they should appear in your local Wal-Mart, Target, TRU, etc. in the near future in enough quantities that you can find one. Here it is:

That's him, thanks a lot! Not sure if I like the new version enough to buy a whole DVD pack to get him, the face looks a bit weird in the promo pics, but I'll check it out in person and see.

While I'm remembering Joe stuff, did anyone else get that mail away figure of "you" when you were a kid? It might've been only in the UK, but they sent you this figure who was wearing a big round metal helmet and a Joe file filled out with your personal info, and also a 45 record that I think had mission instructions on it. Anyway, after my parents paid who knows how much for this silly thing, they sent me a letter saying they were out of stock of "me" and here was a Snake Eyes to make up for it. Of all the figures -- every Joe collector had a Snake Eyes! I remember being really pissed (or the 8 year old equivalent).

Last question I swear: anyone know which figure changed color with heat? Was that Zartan maybe?

Zartan did change color, but not from exposure to heat - it was from exposure to sunlight!

I had the 'me as a Joe' figure, it was called Steel Brigade. The figure itself was mostly a kitbash of other figures, and they cleverly had no exposed skin, so that any nationality could be represented. It came with a Steel Brigade patch and a dot matrix computer printout (ah, those were the days) of some customized file card type info. Mine never came with a record.

I sold it years ago, but now I wish I hadn't. I think the figures themselves are easy to find, but I doubt I'll ever be able to track down that filecard printout.

The 25th anniversary wave 3 Zartan actually changes color in the freezer, where he turns green. . .well, greener than he is when he isn't in the freezer, which is pretty green to begin with. If you go back through this thread a bit, you will notice that another, better Zartan is coming out in the next month or two.

An unopened, original Zartan is one of the few "MIB" items that is on my list of "grails."

Since I haven't been collecting minimates lately I'll tell you what I've been spending my money on. All these G.I. Joes. I have found one of the best sites that isn't advertised and I've purchased a bunch of loose Cobra soldiers for a display. I give you guys the Outer Rim Collectibles site.

http://theouterrimcollectibles.ecrater.com....php?cid=470290

Some of the sites online are really expensive and I just want to army build Cobra troops. I have also bought waves off of this guy. I highly recommend this.
