  1. Hey. Waitaminute. I'm going with bzorio being the happy camper. I dunno man, I'm going with TENIME and a 90s X-Factor wave. Course, I don't know if that version of X-Factor had any villains that I would call classic...
  2. I hear you, man. That new Ghost Rider series isn't super great. The pacing's terrible, there's not enough supernatural stuff, and any promise it had is quickly disappearing. That said, I thought Tradd Moore's crazy exaggerated art was amazing and so wonderfully kinetic I ended up just buying the book for it. Also, it is hands down way better than the last Ghost Rider series (the one that launched out of Fear Itself). Personally, I'd love to see the return of the Spirits of Vengeance style book with a seasoned Rider taking a rookie under his belt. Which oddly seems like how the books always end up right before they get cancelled (John and Danny right before Aaron left, John and Alessandra(?) before that was canned, and what seems to be John and Robbie in the next couple of months). Bring on the darkness! More villains on Motorcycles! Give me Steel Vengeance or give me death!
  3. If you haven't read it (and I'm pretty sure you have) you should think about getting the Complete Jim Starlin Warlock TBP. As a huge fan of the Infinity Gauntlet, it blew me away to discover that it was the product of a decade of setup. I recently went back to read the Warlock stuff for the first time and was besieged by characters and events that were referenced either explicitly or via imagery in The Infinity Gauntlet. It's such great stuff and just makes Thanos' rise and defeat that much greater. But yeah, aside from the random old stuff I'm picking up (I'm 70 issues shy of a complete run of Daredevil vol1, 4 issues short of a complete Darkhawk, and have just started looking for old issues of Blaze [it's a sickness]), I find I'm buying quite a lot of new stuff every week. Let's see, there's: Daredevil Elektra Hawkeye Sinister Foes of Spider-Man Legendary Star-Lord All New Ghost Rider Moon Knight Avengers Undercover New Avengers She-Hulk And typically whatever the big Crossover is. Apparently I like the books that are ripe to get cancelled.
  4. You totally are not. I was getting a little crazy there for a while. Fortunately for me, I found Venom last weekend in my hometown of all places (right after I left a WalMart that was stocked with a Nova and a Black Cat, no less!). Keep the faith though! I hear that the street date is September 1, so hopefully they'll be plentiful for you next week.
  5. Still have a sickness, still making dioramas. This time I made a dungeon and found a great use for my Riot Spidey. It's win-win! Add some dramatic lighting... And also, I tried my hand at something that wasn't rock-based and tried my had at some kind of futuristic military base. I pulled out the Protector to help me out because that guy doesn't get enough play.
  6. So, what would happen if they made Inhuman mates, but they were the characters from that new series? It's not super far-fetched. Marvel is looking to give them a big push, they seem pretty toyetic (if generic), and they seem to be taking the spotlight away (or at least trying to) from the classic Royal family. I'm calling freakouts. Also, I'd call these new inhumans (or Numans or whatever) as the dark horse candidates for Series 60.
  7. There's nothing not to love in that set. It's a travesty it never came out.
  8. Hey thanks man! The process is pretty simple, if time consuming. First I went out and bought some foam boards (of various varieties to see what worked best), cut them into a more manageable size (around six inches high or so and a bit longer), and started marking off bricks. I measured off every quarter inch, drew lines straight across using a simple sharp No.2 pencil, and then did the same for the intersecting lines. After that, I painted all the bricks a base coat of grey, and then each brick individually red. A steady hand and a good movie later, I had it done. Then, I diluted some black and washed it over the bricks to make'em seem old. It's fun and easier than you think, you should totally give it a whirl. All you need to get started is the foam, something sharp to cut it, a pencil, a ruler, and some paint (with brushes). As for the specifics of the foam board, I've found that two varieties are working best for me right now. The standard stuff that you can get at a craft store for like a buck a sheet (the kind that's normally used for science fair displays) and works alright. I like it better when I can peel off the top sheet paper to give me some cheap texture, but it's really cheap and easy to find. The newest one I did was with Cellfoam 88, which is essentially just the foam that's found in the foam board. It's super light weight, real easy to use, but a bit harder to find and a bit more expensive. I bought a package of three 12x12 sheets for about $5.50. I hear the way to go, however, is insulation foam. It's thicker. cheaper, and supposedly works wonders. I'll let you know how it works when I get my hands on some. Good luck!
  9. I have a sickness; it's making diorama walls. Here's another one I did this weekend. This one with more bricks and some quick graphitti. I think I'm going to make a dungeon next.
  10. I snapped a couple of quick pics with a new diorama wall I built tonight. I was really happy with how it turned out.
  11. I just found these in Los Angeles. All three packs accounted for,but they were kinda hard to find. They were with the Marvel stuff (as opposed to the GotG stuff) and resting on the shelf instead of hanging. Just a heads up. Also, I had no idea just how tiny Rocket was.
  12. Man, I am shocked how much I'm digging these. I really didn't want to like them, but man, they are super rad. Well put together, fun, and all together awesome. I can't wait to to fondle some blind bags. When do these come out again? September?
  13. Just a quick last minute update. In case anyone is interested, we're at booth 4136 both days this weekend with some cool stuff to give away. Also, Saturday we'll have Doug Jones and Mike McShane there to sign some stuff before noon. So stop. Y before you go hit the big dst panel! To read more about our plans check out our blog: http://uncleslavkosfuntimeblog.com/2014/07/24/were-going-to-comic-con/
  14. As a man with a near complete run of Sleepwalker (and his various appearances), consider me crazy jealous of that custom. Great job!
  15. Hey thanks guys! I'll totally keep y'all updated as things continue to develop; especially if it involves a trip to NYCC. That said, I discovered the bit of swag we're giving away at the SDCC booth: A badass Glow-in-the-dark Psychomonkey (our term for the evil Bigfoot-looking guys) pin. Check it out! WOO!
  16. So yeah, this happened: http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/76932/love-time-monsters-gets-distribution-new-stills So after years of hard work and dedication, we finally found distribution for Love in the Time of Monsters! Specific details as to when are still being shaken out, but the movie is officially in the pipeline to come out with a fully loaded DVD sometime in the near-ish future. CRAZYPANTS! ALSO! We're headed to SDCC courtesy of our distributer Indican Pictures, so make sure you stop by on that Saturday. We should have some fun stuff, a guest or two, and some swag. I'm super excited, guys. I can't wait to have this thing out there for everyone to see!
  17. Who ever believed we'd live in a world where we'd have multiple Shatterstars to choose from? Not to mention Cannonballs? CRAZYPANTS! I'm super excited. Now I just hope we can get a two pack with Siryn, Rictor, or Sunspot. Or Gideon cause why not?
  18. God, I would kill for an Orb figure.
  19. Or you could make a pretty rad Midnight Sons box set: Strange (The weird masked one) Johnny Blaze Danny Ketch Ghost Rider 90s Blade (Or Morbius) I want to believe that it would sell like hotcakes.
  20. I found a case of these in San Jose today.
  21. i wanted the lego castle (i forgot what the set was called) with the draw bridge, princess and glow in the dark ghost. i remember constantly looking at it on the lego catalogue. but yeah, it was reaaaaalllly expensive and my parents got me the stupid robin hood tree hide away thing and i just pretended it's a castle Are you talking about the Black Knight Castle? Came out in the mid to late 90s? Because that was the centerpiece of my lego collection, I freaking loved that thing. It's one of the few pieces I still have assembled and refuse to let my Dad collapse down for storage. It was the most expensive lego set I owned, and I earned every penny to buy it. I'm truly sorry that you couldn't get your hands on it. As for me, my most wanted currently is the 20th anniversary Optimus Prime that came out about a decade ago. The thing was huge, made of die cast metal, with a removable matrix of leadership and interchangeable weapon hands. Ugh. I want it so bad. And now they have a Rodimus to go with it and I would love that thing too. Stupid space issues....
  22. So just a heads up, I keep finding all the stuff LEGO showed at Toy Fair out and about, including the Hulk Lab Smash featuring MODOK. I was *this* close to picking it up, but space is becoming a premium around here. Looks like a pretty sweet set though.
  23. Things are really heating up for LOVE IN THE TIME OF MONSTERS. First, we got a totally boss new poster: Right? Awesome! Second, we just came out with a music video that's pretty rad: Finally (and most importantly), we got into our FIRST FILM FESTIVAL! WOOOO! So, if any of y'all are interested in seeing a big funtime movie with monsters, cute girls, and hunky dudes then you should totally come check us out at the CINEQUEST FILM FESTIVAL in San Jose, CA. We're going to have three screenings and I should be at all of them. You know, if you wanted to meet me or whatever. It's also cool if you just want to eye me from the back and judge me. And if you're on the fence and for some reason don't trust my enthusiasm here, you can also read an interview I did about the movie and it's impending screening here.
  24. I love it when people get excited about filmmaking. And man, I am excited for you. Doing an adaptation of Punch Out sounds great and I really like that you're thinking about work arounds to get the story to work into your budget. That's the thing about adaptations that people seem to forget: It's okay to change details as long as the core ideas stay the same. All that said, I think you're starting your story at the wrong spot. Mac's dilemma about whether to engage in this tournament or not isn't very interesting to me, however the backstory that you've built up is. What if instead, it's him training for the big fight, ending with a take on the iconic pink-suited work out shot from the original game? Or, what if it's him psyching himself up before the fight (where he's sitting in a locker room), where he's flashing back to the moments in his life that brought him here, ending with Mario or The Coach telling him it's time to go? Or a similar idea, where its between rounds and Mac is in his corner (A dark, underground boxing corner mind you, thats really just him, ropes, and a shaft of light) beaten and trying to regain his motivation, ending with the reveal of his opponent King Hippo? Or something in between, these are just top of my head thoughts for you. Really, my thoughts are rooted in Polaris's Four Player videos, if you haven't already for inspiration.Good luck!
