  1. Just got my Batroc figure today and I absolutely love him!
  2. Marvel's been promoting the hell out of Downey vs Evans for Civil War, so I sincerely doubt Cap's on the chopping block.
  3. Texting in the theatre? For shame...
  4. In Reynolds' defense, he can hardly be held solely responsible for any of those things. Green Lantern had (and I say this as someone who actually didn't hate the movie) a lot of other problems completely unrelated to Reynolds in the lead. He also didn't actually play the version of Deadpool that ruined the character. And Wesley Snipes' insane behavior on the set of Blade Trinity is no secret. If anything, I'd say that Reynolds has a bad habit of signing onto half-formed projects that end up never becoming fully formed. The fact that the Deadpool costume is so faithful is a step in the right direction. But, the movie is still being made by Fox, and they seem to operate on the "one step forward, two steps back" principle when it comes to their Marvel stuff. So, Deadpool could go either way.
  5. I have decided to give up on reviewing action figures. Instead, I've moved on to my real love: Staplers!
  6. Well, I placed an order for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. We'll see how that goes.
  7. For those on the fence about the SHIELD set's price, TRU.com has marked it down $10. Linkage. I actually just got my set in the mail on Friday. Like others have said, Coulson's the best. I really like the new suit body. Fury has convinced me that Hasbro really needs to retire the trenchcoat body. It's just not up to spec with their newer stuff. If anyone's interested, here's my review of the set.
  8. In all fairness, I think Whedon breathed some life into the characters, and I'm enjoying what Aaron's been doing in Amazing X-Men. They get my vote for best "modern" X-Men writers.
  9. My go to X-Book is Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne....
  10. Oh, why not put Stan's face under Forbush Man's helmet?
  11. Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't you said in the past that you were never into the classic Marvel stuff? Because if so, then most pressing issue I have with the guy really wouldn't apply here.
  12. In my opinion, Bendis does very little to endear himself to established fanbases. You either like what he's doing, or you can get lost. My first introduction to the guy was when he took over the Avengers and proceeded to kill three of my favorite members of the team and drive another one insane because he personally didn't like those characters. That kind of left a bad taste in my mouth, especially due to how vocal he was about his dislike of the characters. I also can't stand the fact that he decompresses everything to insane levels and his dialogue makes everyone sound the same. But that's just me...
  13. Maybe an entire wave of famous comic book writers/artists. Man, imagine what Alan Moore would look like as a Minimate.... Something like this, I'd imagine: (Hail Ivan!)
  14. I don't mind this line-up. It looks more like the Avengers to me than a lot of Avengers books in the last 10 years. Also, if Waid truly is going to be the regular writer, I can definitely see myself getting behind this. And I'm guessing that's Radioactive Man they're all charging at.
  15. Awesome. Please put me down for TRU 16 Cap & Scarlet Witch, if that's alright.
  16. Came across Anchorage Attack Gypsy and Romeo Blue from Series 5 of the Pacific Rim line. I actually passed on the Hong Kong Attack Gypsy because I though it looked too similar to the previous version. Comparing the Series 2 Gypsy with Anchorage Gypsy, it's like night and day. I need to go back and get the other one now, because the new Gypsy sculpt is just phenomenal. The sculpt easily rivals that of Cherno, who was my favorite of the Jaegers by far up until now. Romeo is also a lot of fun, and I can't believe we actually got him. The fin is supposed to be glued in place, but mine isn't, so it kept falling off. Easy fix, though. I love how many of the Mark 1's we've gotten. (Cherno really should be in this picture, but he was behind several figures on my shelf at the time)
  17. Can reviews written for MMC be posted on other sites after going up on MMC, or would you prefer they stay MMC-exclusive? I'd love to participate in writing reviews, but since my website's schtick is reviewing every figure in my collection, I wouldn't want certain figures to be absent from my site.
  18. Well darn. I've done my best to resist buying anything else with the onslaught of stuff about to hit, but that Hawkeye is just too cool to pass up. And then seeing Pizza Dig was in there too totally sealed the deal. Ordered it. I love to get a Kate-guy to go with him!
  19. I think the answer to #2 is pretty simple: Hasbro's the biggest thing stopping Star Wars Minimates. They have a pretty tight hold on the action figure license for Star Wars (Marvel too, but Marvel Minimates pre-date Hasbro having the license). I know that's why Funko makes Pop! bobble heads instead of straight figures.
  20. I think the greatest issue we're facing here is that TRU doesn't really give a damn where their stock is going as long as it's selling. And if that little sticker on the shortpacked set makes them sell through faster, then, as far as they're concerned, there's no reason to change. It's something that is likely to hurt them in the long run, but TRU's never really been very forward thinking.
  21. Okay, I generally steer clear of the sculpted vs. painted debate, but I guess I've been pulled into this one. I would point out that the only difference between my review of Thane and Rustin's is not just that I'm a Multiverse member and he's not. The two of us have differing opinions of the figure entirely, each based on different aspects. My dislike of the figure is due to the character and design it represents. Whether he makes use of sculpted parts or not is irrelevant to my opinion. On the flip side, one of Rustin's two points for Thane being the highlight of the set is "by simply being a painted Minimate base body." That says to me that, more than anything, he prefers Minimates to be as pure as possible, and a figure wins points just by avoiding the use of sculpted parts. And if that's how he feels, that's totally fine. It just isn't something that some people here agree with is all (Much as some people don't agree with my preference of the new Thanos over the IG one.)
  22. Well, I’ve given it a few days, just to see how I feel. I think getting my feelings out there, along with the kind and helpful words said by everyone in this thread, have made me feel at least a little bit better about things. In addition, over the weekend I had to deal with a bunch of crap in my personal life, which, if nothing else, has put things into perspective for me. I’ll probably be stepping back from Minimates for a little while. However, this is less a deliberate choice, and more that there’s just less things I want to buy in the upcoming months. That’s not a bad thing, as there are lots of things I want from other lines, so I can use my funds on those instead. I still intend to pick up all of the Aliens stuff and I’m sure I’ll end up with more than a few of the Marvel releases. And hopefully this will make the ‘mates I do get a bit more exciting. I still very much intend to keep up with the reviews, though I may start to spread them out a little bit more. I don’t plan on leaving the Multiverse, either. This place is easily the best thing about collecting Minimates, and I really enjoy being able to share my opinions with others here. Thanks to everyone who chimed in! I really appreciate it
  23. I came across Spider-Man and Daredevil at Target today. Almost picked them up before I took a second look at Daredevil and noticed something wasn't quite right: It's certainly one of the craftier swap-outs I've seen. Since DD was the one I wanted, I ended up leaving Spidey behind, along with the impostor here.
  24. You've got a pretty great list there. I'd also suggest: X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga X-Men: Proteus (my personal favorite X-Men story) John Byrne's Fantastic Four Avengers: Celestial Madonna Avengers - West Coast: Family Ties Captain America: Secret Empire For Hulk, David/Byrne is pretty great. I'd also suggest Len Wein's run, which I believe is collected in Essential Hulk vol. 6.
