  1. Anyone else planning to modify that Falcon headpiece/mask to use with the comic Falcon? Cant wait for these! I also love the Iron Man in this wave!
  2. Hey Gang, I have a long overdue update, as well as a group shot of all of my Golden Age Heroes I've done so far (minus the two that were sold off in the charitymates auction). I have three others in the works right now, and plans to do at least two more after that. First up, an update to my Buzz Lightyear custom. I was given these killer test tubes by a very generous member here, and after some careful cutting I have my clear dome, so Buzz can finally breathe while he's on his outer space adventures! Next up, my golden age heroes. The American Crusader, Pyroman, The Black Terror, The Original Daredevil, and The Fighting Yank. I have The Green Lama, Man of War, and Hydroman. As always, thanks for looking! Your Pal, Nerv.
  3. They look great! on a side note, we need to see more of your stuff, this thread is as dusty as mine has been, lol
  4. Man do I hope we finally get a Colossus worth displaying. He looks awesome in this movie. Did I mention he's also my favorite member of the X-Men. I have been disappointed by every single one we've gotten. Like others have said, he's a tough one to do because he's not the hulk, but looks too puny when done with the regular body. I think this is a case where the 2.5 inch body would be perfect to use.His arms/legs/torso/hands/feet/ need to be a little thicker, but not totally bulked up. Short story time. My very first minimate was Mr.T, which my buddy eagle gave me (who the eff is eagle?) When i went looking online I found some more of these minimates on ebay, and thought colossus would look perfect next to my lego minifigures ( which i had just begun customizing) He was my second minimate, but the first one i ever bought, and at the time was the only one i ever really planned on getting (i know, right, lol), since i was a lego guy all the way. But...the more minimates i got, the less it felt like he fit in (along with the first hulk minimates) and have been waiting patiently all these years for one that looks like he should. I've pieced together one using various bulked up parts (thanks Maestro arms!) and I'm ok with that for now, but I still want an official version that I can be happy with.
  5. Personally, I like it, sure, same goes for the Panther. But there's a lot of room for improvement. The cape is too big so he can't stand, the body is too "vanilia" and the mate is lost inside the huge cloak, etc. I think a pair of sculpted boots and some more leg dtailing would do the trick, but I'd much rather get a new costume. Aaaanyway, thread hijacking was my fault and all, I know, but shouldn't we get back on topic? There's not much to talk about concernign the wave, since everything's been said already, but I guess we should stay within the boundaries. I'll start: I much preffered the matte white on iRon Man, this glossy new look doesn't look as good to me. Which is a shame, since it's my most anticipated mate from this wave (right next to Hobby). Isn't an all white costume fairly vanilla to begin with? too much detail and it starts to look messy. I agree, maybe some leg muscle details, and a better looking tampo for the boots. I'd actually lose the big clunky gloves. Don't get me wrong, i like vanilla, and subscribe to the KISS method of superhero costumes (keep it simple stupid). I'm all about the tights and capes and masks. To me you don't need much more than that, and a cool logo (again, not too busy ) After looking at it, I think a smaller cape, better tampo design, no gloves, and he'd be much better. But, I don't really care for the character either way, so i doubt i'd get a new one. you may be able to piece a better one together with some different figures. for the issue of a glossy iron man, it is a simple fix. hit it with a matte finish spray sealer, and your all set!
  6. Good Luck, you will be missed! You are a very talented person, so I wouldn't shut down those creative juices completely. I speakfrom experience. I was waaay into art and drawing and painting and creating my whole young life up thru High School. I was in Marine Corps Boot Camp when I turned 19. I pretty much gave up doing anything creative for the next 4 years while I served the country, and it took another 6 or 7 years for me to rediscover my love of lego, which ultimately led me to minimates. To coing the phrase used in a lot of lego/toy forums, I was in my "Dark Ages", and stayed that way until i was about 30 to finally get back into the whole toy world. I agree with Bob Harris, bring a few things with you (favorite figure/little sketch/dumb little trinket that you and only you appreciate/etc...) My whole 4 years in the marines I kept my Dress Blues Version of Gung-Ho with me, and i think it got me back to happy times when i needed it, or made me think of my family, or just made me smile. I still have that little fella floating atround. I guess what 'm saying is, take care of what you gotta take care of, and come back to the hobby when it brings you joy again. Like I said, you are super talented, especially for your age. Stop back here from time to time and say hello, and give a progress report. The old men will still be here on the porch sipping lemonade. I've gone into about 2 or 3 mini retirements from this hobby, but made too many real friends here to completely stay away. To be honest, the people here are probably what kept me interested in minimates. enough about me, I wish you the best of luck. Keep your head up, and keep on truckin'
  7. love your photos... been following you on flickr for quite awhile now. I really like the Stormshadow, the colors just bounce out! and mumm-ra is done so well, i like it more each time i see it!
  8. I couldn't agree more! I'm pretty sure I posted this a few pages back, but I'm too lazy to even check my own thread, lol. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. I'm actually in the process of redoing my whole work area in my house with full intent on coming back strong with new creations, both lego and minimates related, with the help of my apprentice (my very talented 6 year old son :-) ) Keep your eyes peeled for more nerv and lil' nerv creations!
  9. Hey Guys... So, I've had this guy done for probably 3 years at this point... I always meant to replace the gloves and boots with paint, they were only ever supposed to be placeholders, and I wanted to reprint the emblem to match the red. I have a dfferent hair as well (peter parker's hair from the amazing spiderman movies) Well, considering none of that ever happened, and not sure when i'll get to it now, I figured I'd post this guy up. Captain Atom is a big favorite of mine, and wish he would have been done officially, but since I doubt that will ever happen (especially not chromed), I figured I'd share this now... better late than never huh?!?!? Captain Atom, in all his shiny goodness!
  10. I would be all over making a MOTU Scareglow minimate if they released a GITD skeleton, and I know I'm not the only one on here who was thinking that. You are correct!
  11. I couldn't agree more. I'm all for anyone who is trying to make money... we all have families to feed (even if you don't, you get the idea) The problem i have is buying stuff from the trade threads here, from mostly very generous people, and flipping it for a profit on ebay. I think its happened more than once. Nothing against the law with doing that, it is just a scuzzy thing to do. One of the problems is us, as a collector base, and our lack of patience and the need to have it now attitude. I was that way once upon a time, but realized the world won't end if i dont have it this second (but that's just me). I dont care for the menagerie, and the high prices (i've been guilty of buying from them in the past, but normally stay away.) but he wouldn't be selling, if people weren't still buying.
  12. correct, I think there was some sort of contest to design a banner or something for it.
  13. F@#$ that guy! Minimates Menagerie is the worst! 24 of each figure marked waaaaaay up instead of helping out people on here that never found them. I really hope that nobody on here buys their stuff from him. would you believe he's even a longtime member here, but haven't seen a post from him in quite some time...I'm guessing he uses the forum for some good intel on what to overcharge on.
  14. With as much exposure as the Squadron Supreme has been getting in the books and most definitely on Avengers Assemble, I'd love to see a whole wave dedicated to them, either at specialty, or walgreens (with the animated stuff). I've also been breezing thru the Squadron Sinister book (and will pick up the trade) and I love what I'm seeing there, especially with Hyperion in a domino mask. For me personally, this would feed my craving for DC a bit, with this basically being a bad version of the justice league, with awesome costumes! i need more capes and masks and costumes like they wear. Who's with me?....................
  15. East of West? Saga? Black Science? Low? I'd love black science mates!
