Captain Minimate Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Wow, so far, so good! Love both of 'em. Can't wait to see what's next! Quote
Bob Harris Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Those two customs are pretty impressive. I really like the idea of creating cap's Arlington statue. Nice idea, Andy! And I do absolutely appreciate your b/w Batman, Shamrock! Well done, man, well done!!! (And by the way, I do LOVE your Red Son Batman custom! Just wanted to mention that. ) Quote
TM2 Dinobot Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Mine's done. Looks like crap. I'm thinking about doing a second one if I have time. Quote
Bob Harris Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) Several Sin City characters were expected for this contest, but until now, there isn't any, so let me be the first. My entry is: Sin City's Rollerskate Miho No, just kidding, NorthRaider. Here is: Sin City's Marv He's based on the movie interpretation of Miller's comic, because I wanted to use different shades of gray instead of pure black and white colors. The custom's based on these images here. (Both pics aren't photoshoped. For the right, more scenic one - a little inspired by this lithograph -, I just dropped some scraps of paper while taking the pic. So I hope I didn't break any rule.) You can add any backgrounds you want to your photos, as long as it isn't done in photoshop. Quote

And I love that snowfall effect you used in the second photo I hope we see more Sin City customs for this contest... why no love for Dwight? Quote
pickle Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Wow Bob Harris, your Marv looks great. It blows the Marv I did for the last custom contest out of the water. Quote
Nervous Rex Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) hey luke, I am 80% done my design.....and I just had a thought, am I allowed to make my face and torso decals in photoshop, or is this just B+W+grey paints we are supposed to be using? my original understanding was the end photo cannot be manipulated in photoshop to be in B+W, but now I am second guessing myself. sorry in advance for any confusion this brings up, I feel like a dope for asking this . Black & white decals made in photoshop are fine. Only the end photo cannot be manipulated, in order to prove that the entire figure is B&W. Quote
Nervous Rex Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Hey thanks for clearing that up for me, I assumed this from the beginning, but got a strange feeling about it last night working on my &@#%L$# #@$&*^N decal . Quote
Bob Harris Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I also used photoshop to do my decals, Nervous. And, damn, I was think about doing a &@#%L$# #@$&*^N custom as well! Quote
buttheadsmate Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I was going to enter this competition because it's such a great idea .With the deadline looming I'm afraid I'll just have to sit this one out & enjoy the entries which so far have been incredible. This weekend takes me to Dublin with a gang of old friends & we'll be having our own Black & White Custom Contest which involves some of these buggers : Quote

This weekend takes me to Dublin with a gang of old friends & we'll be having our own Black & White Custom Contest which involves some of these buggers : Draught Guinness in Ireland was easily one of the finest things that I experienced in a trip I took there a few years ago. I am envious. I don't know if it was just my imagination, but I went up to Belfast for a few days during my trip, and the Guinness there was nearly undrinkable. Quote

TM2 Dinobot Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 (edited) Okay, my hat is officially in the ring. I have to give my mom props for this idea. She came up with it right off the bat. For this contest I was going to do Ultimate Spot from Ultimate Spiderman #111, and use the same technique they did. That is, splattering ink on the page/minimate. Unfortunately, it turned out like crap. So bad in fact, that I didn't even bother taking a pic. So I used my mother's idea. The prototype design for Cruella de Vil's dress from 101 Dalmatians! NorthRaider Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 The Cruella minimate is both hilarious and AWESOME! Props on your mom's unique idea TM2! Quote
