I think the kaine looks accurate based off the art posted.  The face and cleavage look like they should be a lighter blue.   Plus, i think the cleavage is sexy too

The stuff with the blue/purple on Goblin's cape, yeah. I can see it.

But Kaine? IDK. Maybe it's my neurodivergent ass not cooperating right, but I don't see the issue everyone has with the blue on Kaine. It's a little underdetailed, perhaps, but the color and application is fine.

Really, the only thing he's missing, as others have noted, is the forearm spikes. The lack of them kinda blows, IMO, but it's not a major drawback for me when the incredible amount of effort taken with the rest of the figure's sculpting is taken into consideration.

Good news, everyone -- we will not be changing the paint on these Minimates. They were fully researched early on, and colored the way they were colored for a reason, and they are well into production.

The lack of unwindswept parts does blow (heh), but honestly, I can live with it. Especially Goblin considering it looks to be (mostly) symmetrical.

I'm honestly glad. The in-person photos that got posted earlier look WAY better than the solicitation ones. I have faith.

End of year? They were offered in the May Previews which means they are approximately due in November -- six months. But I'll let you know when I get a date.

I can’t tell you my source but I can assure you that it will include at least one Minimate.

I think it's another 90s set, with one new character and four pretty necessary re-dos.

I'm still hoping for a updated 90's Jim Lee era X-Men. I want a new Gambit, Rogue, Psylocke, etc. A gold team set and a blue team set would be fantastic.

The next '90s set combines a few different branches of the Marvel U.

Was this the defunct Walgreens set or is there another set out there that I missed (my brain can't keep track anymore)

I had figured the Sinister in the Inferno set was the one from that set, and meant it was being split up, but comparing them they are somewhat different. Same new cape, though.

Is it based on a big 90's storyline? I'm trying to think of a big storyline that involved different branches of the MCU. Infinity Gauntlet is the one that pops in my head immediately.

curious.  infinity gauntlet is the main one that comes to mind as well but how do you trim that down to 5 characters (plus a minifig)?

i quit reading comics in the 90's so i'll have to think more about this but we had onslaught, heroes reborn, ........... ?

not sure what other big crossovers that were across the board.

Maybe the Thunderbolts, they first appeared in 1997.

I think the likely culprits for wave 88 (jeez!) would be:

Galactic Storm - mixing cosmic with the Avengers, like Wonder Man, Vision (white), Iron Man, Captain America, and Quasar/Deathbird.  It's classic-ish, couple of heavy hitters, four much needed redos, and casually ties into the film landscape (Vision and Wonder Man are supposedly getting shows)

Infinity War (inspired by Nandoninny) - mixing Cosmic and earthbound Marvel, like Adam Warlock, Thanos, Doom, Kang, and Magus.  Plays off the name of one of the most successful movies of all times, four much needed redos (even if we just got a movie Thanos), and the Doom/Kang combo connects to the new movies.

Onslaught - mixing Avengers and The X-Men, like a Second form Onslaught (with Xavier parts), Hulk (with Banner parts), Feral Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Nate Grey.  Admittedly a dark horse, BUT much needed redos, a fun new character, and, well, I just think it would be neat to finally get an X-Man.

Be an obvious way to get Stryfe, plus DIRE redos of characters like '90s Gambit, '90s Rogue, and '90s Jubilee. The originals, of which, are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive (or not even able to be located in Jubilee's case) on the aftermarket nowadays.

Also, yeah, yeah, Stryfe is technically Cable, but IDC. He's basically Cable's Reverse-Flash as his identical foil, and is just one of the most important villains in the X-Men mythos period for being responsible for the outbreak of the Legacy Virus at the end of XCS.

I guess it depends on what you mean by universe. Is it literal like a cosmic saga? Is it across the Marvel character books? Who knows. There is the Infinity Sagas, Operation Galactic Storm, Onslaught, Heroes Reborn/Return, Bloodties, Acts of Vengeance, Maximum Carnage, Spirits of Vengeance. Heck, even the New Warriors crosses the Universe.
