  1. Got my Hulk and Venom sets today, I love them both (even DD is starting to grow on me) However, I did have to fix Bruce Banner's head a little The tape holding the head in place took some of the paint away from it: Those small black dots? Those are part of his eye, but a fine point sharpie later and he looks pretty normal again
  2. I think I found the Burned Zombie, I'm not 100% sure though. Here's the panel (it's from Issue 20 I believe) I colored the zombie that I think is it. I can't tell if the arm to the right of him is his left arm or another zombie's right arm (It might be his) But he has the sleveless collared shirt and his face seems close to the minimate's face
  3. The only female on the paperback doesn't look like the minimate (actually has a lower jaw, wrong hair, etc...) On Book 5 you can see the top of a Zombie's head that has similar hair to the female Zombie so I'm guessing that's who they're saying the minimate is based on, Here's a pic of the two covers: Here's the list of the Zombies from the magazine: They only mention the Issue number, I added the Volumes for those like me who have only collected the TPB's SDCC Vacation Zombie - Iss 11/Vol 2 SERIES 1 One Armed Zombie - Iss 20/Vol 4 Guts Zombie - Iss 26/Vol 5 Female Zombie - Book 5 Cover Burned Zombie - Iss 20/Vol 4 Punk Zombie - Iss 30/Vol 5 Nerd Zombie - Iss 3/Vol 1 SERIES 2 Leg Bite Zombie - Iss 1/Vol 1 Zombie Mike - Iss 19/Vol 4 Zombie Terry - Iss 19/Vol 4 One Eyed Zombie - Iss 19/Vol 4 Sailor Zombie - Book 3 Cover Stabbed Zombie - Iss 20/Vol 4 AMAZON Roamer Zombie (Green Shirt) - Iss 13/Vol 3 Lurker Zombie (Sweater Vest) - Iss 9/Vol 2 SERIES 3 Dreadlock Zombie - Iss 26/Vol 5 Guard Zombie - Iss 13/Vol 3 Farmer Zombie - Iss 49/Vol 9 Vest Zombie - Iss 34/Vol 6 Pole Zombie - Iss 42/Vol 7 The magazine had pictures of the comic panels for half of the zombies. I had to guess on the issue number for the pole zombies, but I think 42 is right Edited to include Vest Zombie, Thanx Zach!
  4. Thanks, I've got a light box set (labelled as a photo studio in a bag) with some posterboard inside to get rid of the box's edges and a Samsung WB150F camera (it was on sale at Target back in January) For the photo editing I use Gimp (It's a free photoshop-like program)
  5. I felt the same about my entry Congrats to the other winners, this was a great contest with a lot of cool entries!
  6. I picked up the Walking Dead magazine #3 today that had the Zombie Minimate Guide in it. It lists almost every Zombie from the SDCC Vacation Zombie to Series 3 There are two from series 1 (Burned and one arm Zombie) that the magazine doesn't know where they came from (and asks readers to let them know if they find them) and then there's two from series 3 that isn't even mentioned (Pole Zombie (that one's pretty easy) & Vest Zombie) Looks like all the previous guesses here were right except for Female Zombie who the magazine lists as on the cover of Volume 5 (but I think they mean "Book" 5 (the larger TPB's) because they also say the Sailor Zombie is on the cover of volume 3 but the picture they show is from Book 3
  7. I believe there's also supposed to be a 3 3/4" line coming out this year
  8. Not a big Tomb Raider fan but these mates look like great custom fodder and the hazmat? guy with the shield and the two-face guy are just plain cool!
  9. Given that the TRU's around me have apparently never had any marvel 4 packs ever in stock and that they still haven't gotten that particular Expendibles set (the only one I want of course ) I'll have to slightly argue with the "crappy" designation of this store I need to get to TRU and take some pics but it looks very much like everyone else's hodge podge Minimates on every aisle TRU stores
  10. Admittedly, If there was a set with just Dr. Strange and Blade, I probably wouldn't buy it. Like others have mentioned, I also like Morbius because of the 90's Spiderman toon and WBN can be fully blamed on my dad sharing his love of that comic with me as a child. Thankfully that's enough to make me really excited about this set
  11. Here's a Mez-it and a Minimate next to each other:
  12. Lot of really good entries! it was a tough decision between many of these (story and custom-wise)
  13. I posted up a review of this pack at a friend's site I moderate at http://needlessessentialsonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2451
  14. I've seen the Battle Beasts in the Neca/Halo aisle with Expendables, SF x Tekken, Universal Monsters & Walking Dead BUT I've also seen them in another store in the Marvel Aisle with the same minimates as the previous store (also with Playstation left overs) Here's the basic randomness of where minimates are found in my closest TRU (I may be a little off remembering which aisles everything is on though )
  15. Last month I went to a TRU about an hour away from me and it still had Omega Red/Wolvie and Max Police/Rescue sets
  16. Meant to post this a while ago, I found this Disney Autopia car in a Goodwill recently and thought it was around minimate scale. Apparently it was sold in Chevron gas stations in 2000 with 3 other cars It has a pull back friction motor in it too
  17. Here's a sketch of how I hope the Xenomorph is designed, it's kind of a picture of Aliens Minimates
  18. Nick the High End Collector The sun was starting to rise as Nick was running through Facebook checking out new fan videos. There had been a rash of real amateur videos of a Zombie apocalypse since last night. Most of them were too shaky and apparently no one had learned how to focus a camera in their lives. Nick was so tired of seeing everyone randomly post up crappy vids and then those same crappy vids were getting millions of hits and apparently everyone and their mothers were inflating these joker's egos by commenting on the films. There was one though that looked like it had some production value. The special effects were really good and it almost looked real....except for the guts, Nick could tell they were using pig intestines instead. Still, it was a good video so Nick thought he would go get his friend Scuzz to show it to him. Scuzz lived across the hall from Nick's apartment and was huge into the whole Zombie thing. Nick liked it a little bit, but was more into super heroes than zombies. As Nick was about to reach for the door knob, he heard a light knocking at his door. Scuzz would be the only person knocking at his door this early (or late depending on when you'd last slept) but Scuzz was never known for knocking on doors, usually he'd just firmly kick them. Nick looked through the peephole. For a moment he couldn't see anything then it looked like someone's head was up close to the door, then went back to black. The soft knocking coincided with what he was seeing through the peephole, some drunken guy was banging their head on the door. Nick went to open the door to shoo this drunk out of the hallway. As soon as he turned the knob, the drunk slammed into the door knocking Nick to the ground. Looking up, Nick saw the drunk clearly for the first time....it was his friend Scuzz! He looked like he had spent the night getting drunk in a Zombie cosplay, there were fake intestines dangling by his feet and he had a mess of makeup all over his face. Scuzz started reaching down for Nick and that's when Nick noticed that he could actually see through part of Scuzz's chest! Nick scurried back to his room as Scuzz shuffled after him. Nick slammed his bedroom door closed and started looking around for something to protect himself with. As he looked around all he saw were comics and collectibles, he didn't have any tools or anything you see people using in the zombie movies, even the plumbing in his house was plastic so he couldn't even use a lead pipe. If only he had a knife or saw or........hammer......That's when it hit him.....he had a few really high end movie replicas from Compulsive Collector. They had released a line of comic movie replicas made from high grade steel. Replicas that included Thor's Hammer! Scuzz was still banging at the bedroom door while Nick prepared himself. He had grabbed all three of the replicas he had in his collection, Magneto's Helmet, Thor's Hammer and Captain America's Shield. Nick opened the door and jumped back as Scuzz shambled through it. Nick had the shield at the ready and raised his hammer as Scuzz lunged. The hammer came down on Scuzz's head hard. He gurgled a little as Nick bashed his head a couple more times to make sure he wouldn't attack again. Thankfully, the hammer had worked like a charm as Nick was pretty sure he was working off of adrenaline right now. Nick was just starting to deal with the fact that he had bashed in his friend's head when another zombie came into his apartment. Nick had forgotten the front door was still open. This zombie was much faster than Scuzz had been and once he saw Nick, he was running into the bedroom. Nick only had time to raise the shield to protect himself. The force of the impact knocked the hammer out of Nick's hand so he had to use the shield as a weapon. Nick was able to knock the zombie to the ground then he jumped on top of him and brought the shield's edge down on his neck snapping it in half. The zombie stopped writhing beneath him and Nick got up knowing now what he had to do....he had to kill zombies using the tools of superheroes.
  19. I thought he was from the rick fight as well but I remember someone else saying it was when he was with the Gov outside the prison (maybe it's both? I haven't gone back and looked at that issue to confirm anything)
  20. This is pretty much what I'm imagining as well. I'm curious if they'll make a chest piece where the neck peg sticks through it or if they'll do like the Battle Beasts and have a secondary neck peg sculpted on the chest piece for the head to be in a different position (as if the Alien is on all fours but has the head looking forward and not at the ground) Now that I say it out loud, I hope they make two different chest pieces, one to have an Alien standing upright and one that allows an Alien to be on all fours climbing through a duct (Best option would be to have a movable neck joint, but I doubt that's gonna happen)
  21. Picked up the Ben Grimm/Silver Surfer set yesterday. I like the Surfer more than I originally thought I would. I also found a use for some of the spare parts from the Search & Rescue set (Orange Arms, Clear Torso and Legs)
  22. Here they are with the weapons stored and in hand
  23. The bat Chest Piece comes off, it's friggin hard, but it'll come off. I haven't gotten the moose chest off yet. if no one takes a pic before I get home tonight I'll post up a chestless Bat pic Apparently my phone was able to take a good pic (I didn't think it'd work so well) Here's the Moose and Bat chests: You have to heat up the chests to get them off since the head ball joint plugs into the chest itself
  24. You'll have to hide the hand sculpted to the outside....unless you're making a zombie Jesus nativity scene
