  1. ANATOMY OF A MUGGING: It all starts out innocently enough: 6 months later, another one appears... One more month, and I've officially been Mugged!!!!
  2. Nice! I saw those at TRU today. I told my girlfriend that I wanted the Batman and she offered (playfully, of course) to steal it for me. Hopefully I can find one for a reasonable price on ebay when the promotion ends. Congrats on your score!!
  3. These were a huge disappointment for me. The statues look great, but they ditched them after only making 5. I had them all, but sold them off when I found out that most of the main characters weren't going to be made. And why in the world did they do an X-Wing Luke instead of a standard black or white outfit Luke? If I had to pick just 5 characters to represent the Star Wars Universe, X-Wing Luke and a non-standard black Stormtrooper would NOT be two of the 5. I don't know if it's LEGO's fault or Gentle Giant's, but I guess I should be thankful because these babies were expensive retailing at $65 a pop + shipping.
  4. I agree with neo. It's all about what you are looking for. The PSP is definitely a media device, but for pure gameplay I would highly recommend the DS. In fact, the DS is my favorite gaming console, portable or otherwise, period. Lots of innovative gameplay with the touch screen, online gaming, and an enormous library of quality games. Here are some of my favorites: Elite Beat Agents Professor Layton and the Curious Village Pokemon Diamond/ Pearl (and I'm 34! What a nerd!) Mario Kart DS New Super Mario Bros. Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass Touchmaster Clubhouse Games Animal Crossing (and I'm 34 and straight! What a major nerd!) The DS does offer a web browser, but it's crap. Even though I prefer the DS, but if you want to watch movies and surf the WWW then maybe the PSP is for you.
  5. I'm guessing the detention cell block with a possible trash compactor, but who knows? I'd be happy with any random Death Star scene if we could get a Death Star droid and possibly an Imperial Gunner or two. I'm a little disappointed that Han and Luke in Stormtrooper outfits are two of the figures in the set because they are easy enough for one to make on their own. Also, I HATE the hippie hair they put on Luke. I'll be promptly switching that one out for the normal hairpiece.
  6. Awesome find, man! Good for you!!
  7. Yeah, that's good stuff. I really enjoyed this one and the Revenge of the Brick short. I like their brand of humor.
  8. I know it's not color accurate, but I think it's still a pretty good representation of Trap Jaw. The helmet and arm are from the new Agents theme. What do you guys think?
  9. Sorry, just had to post something since it was so blank looking. All you closet LEGO fans need ot sound off!!
  10. I don't care for it. It looks like a slightly better shockini to me. Having said that, I am a HUGE Batman fan, and if I found one cheap I would likely buy one just because. Definitely NOT a line I would have any interest in collecting, though. Oh and I agree with infallible... the LEGO Batman sets rock!
  11. LEGO is my main thing. Sadly, I have given up Minimates except for a few odds and ends I've still got lying around. I just got tired of some of the quality issues with the mates, and I really hate the sculpted torsos that seem to be on every other character now. Sculpted heads are OK with me... sculpted torsos, not so much. I'm also really fond of the McFarlane Halo line, and will be buying them here and there as they are released. I'm going to need some help with the SDCC exclusive, though. Hint, hint!
  12. I'm hoping to get one of these, but they are SDCC exclusives and I'm not going to be in San Diego... Hellspartan
  13. I think I'm going to pin this thread and keep it pinned for all eternity!! Cruel, man. Cruel.
  14. Hey, just wanted to let everyone know (in case you don't know already) that I am an idiot. After selling about a million items on ebay in the last two weeks, I goofed up and sent a couple mates to the wrong people. In a stroke of brilliant luck, it happened to be two of our forum members and everything is going to work out just fine. Sorry to banners_id and aapje for the hassle. I just figured the whole thing is funny, if embarrassing, so I wanted to let everyone know so that they could feel free to make a little fun of me. Especially some guy here named Shane whom I have given a lot of crap in recent years for being a shockini lover. It's only fitting to show my sincerity to humble myself, so here goes: I LOVE SHOCKINIS!!!!!!!!!
  15. Yeah, LEGO is compatible with minimate feet. I don't use the two together though. The extra .5 inch height difference of the Minimates makes for an ill fit with LEGO. Of course, you can always customize. Another option is the Jack Stone theme. The Jack Stone Minifigs are 2" tall, just like the Minimates. The only downside to this is that I don't think LEGO produces these sets anymore so you'd have to find them on the secondary market.
  16. Let me know what kind of sword you need, Shane. I've got several different types.
  17. Well, after countless hours of research and talking to other people I know who play, I narrowed my choices down to a Spyder VS1 or a Tippmann 98 Custom Pro. Both seem to be quality, affordable markers. Then, after several more hours of research and talking to a couple more people, I ended up deciding on the Tippmann. I'm so OCD it's ridiculous. I can't ever buy anything over a hundred dollars without researching the crap out of it first. It took me three days of relentless research before I bought my ipod a couple years ago. Sad, I know. Not going until sometime in April, but I'll be sure to let you guys know how badly I get mauled when it's all over.
  18. I'm going to play paintball with some friends at church and I've never played before and I'm not really sure what to get. I'm not trying to be a pro or anything, but I want something that will have decent accuracy and will be able to withstand the rigors of playing in the woods. One guy recommended a Tippmann A5. Can anybody else second this recommendation, or even recommend something else? I'm looking to spend in the $200-400 range. Any help for this complete PB newbie will be appreciated.
  19. I don't know why everybody hates on Shockinis around here. Maybe it's because Shockinis are far superior to Minimates and you are all jealous. Or, it could be that we all hate Shockinis because they really really suck. Yeah, that sounds more like it. But at least we don't have a hundred posts from Mr. ShockerToys spouting off about how great his toy is and how all three members of his forum are eagerly waiting to see the prototypes from his newest license, "Star Cats and the Real American Heroes of the Universe."
  20. Just awful. I was in shock when I saw the headline on Yahoo. Yet another life destroyed by drugs. Such a shame.
  21. I hope that they just haven't gotten around to you yet. I would hate to think that someone would give you the shaft just because you are a "newbie" on their site. OF course, this is the best forum on the internet and you can get spoiled by the way people treat you here, but I want to believe that the people there are decent and that the mod just hasn't had a chance to write back yet. I would take Rad's advice too and list your needs in the want/have thread. I have very few Kubricks myself, but someone might help you out. Man, I'm glad I'm not you...
  22. There's going to be one on ebay soon...
  23. I almost bought the Darth Vader last night, but I decided on a Rebel troop LEGO battle pack instead. Still, I might eventually get the Vader one just for kicks. I won't be buying any of the other ones, though.
  24. Since I don't see any pictures yet, and I AM the local LEGO guy, here's a shot of 7 standard 2x4 LEGO bricks next to Batman.
  25. Don't carry them in my pocket, but I have a Hulk and Venom in the console of my car... they've been there for three years now. Yes, I've explained the difference between LEGO and Minimates to several people. It seems that it's more of an issue to the non-toy collector adults than anyone else. To an adult who doesn't collect toys, they all kind of look the same... as silly as that sounds to one of us.
