  1. I believe that Gotham Knight will be the next DC animated film to be released after "A New Frontier." There is supposed to be a trailer of it on the "New Frontier" disc. I don't believe that a release date has been set yet. From what I understand, it will be a series of short anime-inspired toons, similar in some ways to the animated Matrix DVD that came out a few years ago (in that different segments will be in different styles, and will tell different kinds of stories). It is supposed to take place in the Nolan-Batmanverse of the films, in between the first and second movies. I believe that Bruce Timm is involved (he is listed on imdb as the director), but there really hasn't been much info released on this, I don't think. All that I know comes from aintitcoolnews.
  2. A couple of days ago I saw "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters," about one man's attempt to break another man's Donkey Kong high score, and the existing champion's devious efforts to keep his place as the top scorer. Believe it or not, this was an incredibly riveting and moving film. I could really identify with Steve Wiebe in some ways. He's like a living Charlie Brown, and Billy Mitchell is as unlikeable a character as you can probably imagine. But one of the things that I really liked was all the weird players in the background: the slimy spy at the arcade, the guy who cheated to get into Time magazine in 1982 and has been friends with Mitchell ever since, Steve's incredibly precocious daughter, the old woman who was chasing the record for Q-Bert, the weird old referee guy, and, of course, "Mr. Awesome": Just a great, wacky cast of characters. Anyway, great movie. I would say better than 85 percent of movies out there.
  3. Cases of wave 6 are now in stock at BBTS. http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail That's 6 dollars a figure. Get them while you can!
  4. I like Lobsterman's list a lot. . .maybe throw in a Little Mac instead of a Sonic, and that would be a Nintendo Minimates dream set.

  6. Just to quickly follow up: Regarding the ratio of positive to negative feedback, Bizrate has no feedback for Titan Toys at this point (which I guess should be a warning sign in itself): http://www.bizrate.com/ratings_guide/cust_...id--127644.html As I noted above, I personally tried to post a review, and even tried to get customer service there to explain why my review was ignored, but to no avail. If someone here knows of really great feedback sites (like a c/net or consumer reports for toy stores), that might also be something worth sharing in this thread.
  7. Scifigenre still has some in stock, and in my experience, their shipping is more reasonable than BBTS (plus, it is already marked down to 6 bucks).
  8. That's what happened with me, too. I initially just planned on picking up the Blue Beetle/Booster Gold set, and now I've probably got a couple hundred Minimates. . .
  9. Well, since I have a story to tell, and this is a forum for it, I guess I'll tell it. Last summer I placed an order with Titan Toys, they charged my credit card, and I waited. . .come one month later, I was due to leave town, and the items had not yet been received, so, before I left, I sent an e-mail to them, telling them to either cancel my order and refund my money, or hold shipping until I got back into town. My main concern was that I knew they might use UPS. I needed them to hold that package, and if they had shipped USPS it would have been no big deal, since they will hold my mail, and typically make sure that someone is home before they drop off packages. UPS, however, won't hold mail unless the person shipping the item contacts them, and they just drop packages off even if no one is home--I don't particularly care for them, despite the free tracking. Well, wouldn't you know, a few days after I left town (with no access to the internet), I was sent an e-mail that my order was on the way (of course, I didn't find out until I got back home). Through UPS, of course. My earlier e-mail (which was sent through their site, since they didn't list a contact e-mail) was completely ignored. Not only that, but they cancelled two of my items. I ordered 4 items, I believe, and two of them were cancelled, thus making the shipping costs pretty high for the two, relatively undesirable items shipped. They didn't wait to see if I was OK with them shipping only the two items, they just shipped them, in blatant disregard to my suggestion that they either hold my order or cancel it. I was furious when I got back home, so I sent them an e-mail both through their website again, and to the address listed in the e-mail confirming that my order had shipped. No response for a week, so I tried again. No response. So, I tried to do the only thing that I felt like I could do at that point--go to Bizrate and leave them negative feedback. Well, they are listed on that website, so I went through the process of leaving feedback. Nothing. I tried a few days later--nothing appeared when I was finished. Then I read that Bizrate reads all feedback before allowing it to be posted, so I thought they may have construed something I had written as untrue or libelous in some way (it wasn't--it was the bare facts that I've laid out here), so I contacted Bizrate to ask what was going on, and why my comments hadn't been posted--nothing. I tried again, thinking I may have made some mistake--no response. So, I don't like Titan Toys, I don't trust Bizrate (I have no idea why they wouldn't let me post feedback, but its really fishy), and I will never use either of their websites for anything again. Beware and be forewarned! On the other side, I heartily endorse the following sites: -digital-toys.com (the only place I've ordered and received a pre-order so far, and they were great about it, even by-passing their usual UPS shipping method to send my order USPS with confirmation--big time props) -smalljoes.com -scifigenre.com -tfaw.com -hasbrotoyshop.com (though some items might get dinged up in shipping) -amazon.com (used them probably 20-30 times, and they have been 100% reliable) The only other place I've had issue with was Toys R Us--they cancel pre-orders for no apparent reason, only to relist those items after cancelling an order, and when they did ship something to me, it was beat to hell. . .
  10. In addition to the 2 Robins and one Nightwing that have already been released, another Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg, and Raven are being released in the near future. . .any Titans hopes beyond that are, at this time, just idle speculation, but at the least, we will hopefully get the logical Kid Flash and Changeling 2-pack in the next announced DCD wave (or maybe Kid Flash/Wondergirl. . .).
  11. Yeah, I'm pretty psyched about getting a high-end, realistic Flint, but I just don't have the cash to afford more than a couple Sideshow Joes.
  12. The upcoming Clayface is directly inspired by the Animated Series design (as was the Clayface in the recent DC S3 line of figures). I'm not sure if that's how he currently looks in the comic or not, but that look certainly originated in the Animated Series. Further, the Harlequin character released in wave 1 was initially created by Timm, et al. for the Animated Series, though she eventually became a character involved in Batman's regular, comic-continuity. Given that, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a Timm-style Poison Ivy or 2-Face at some point, or at least something partly inspired by those looks. Personally, though, I much prefer the traditional Titans to those from the children's cartoon, and I hope we can get all of the original team-mates at some point (Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Speedy, and Aqualad) without the faux-anime treatment.
  13. It could be worse. The WWF (pro wrestling) used to have a title called the "European Championship." The first winner of that title was a guy from the UK (Davey Boy Smith--the British Bulldog), but after that, pretty much every holder was from the U.S. or Canada, I believe. And it was first won in Europe, but after that, it was hardly ever defended in Europe, of course, since the WWF stays in the U.S. for the most part.

  15. I thought some of you UK Action Force fans might get a kick out of this: A guy on yojoe.com did this for me. Red Laser is one of my all time favorite wacky/cool Joe repaints, and I'm glad to have a 25th anniversary version.

  17. Lame. . .where is damn it?! By the way, what's your source Deadpool? (on an unrelated note, its nice to see another big Clint Eastwood fan around: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094963/ )
  18. I personally want to see Dr. Zoom, Black Adam, and Crime Syndicate baddies the most, but as far as Marvel goes, beyond a Modok (which I'm not sure would work in Minimate form), Red Skull is right up there. He's laughing at me from a Sideshow Collectibles banner as I write! That cruel, cruel bastard!
  19. Two of my favorite all-time superheroes, period, are the original Hourman and Dr. Midnite. Though I think Alan Scott, Thunderbolt, Mr. Terrific, the Atom, and the Sandman (all the originals--though I would buy them all, I don't care about the new iterations as much) would be greater than great. I also think that the Thunderbolt should be a pink, translucent shell-thing that would fit on top of its host(s') heads. As for villains--Solomon Grundy, the Fiddler, and the Icicle!!
  20. Here is a really bizarre video, that has grown on me: http://youtube.com/watch?v=b_zMU2tX5n8 And here is one of my favorite Mr. Show sketches: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8OuPEubf-UY
  21. I saw "Rambo" and "There Will Be Blood" over the last week. Rambo is a great, ultra-violent, and relatively mindless action movie (but much richer than Rambo 2 or 3, for what that's worth). Not unlike "Hatchet," this one is worth watching for the death scenes alone--Rambo's prodigious use of arrows in a scene mid-way through the film is probably my personal favorite. I would give it a B+/A- overall (for what it is). "Blood" has one of this generation's most talented actors in his greatest performance yet (it also didn't hurt that the script, direction, cinematography, score, and acting by Day-Lewis's costars were also significantly better than average). This movie wasn't quite as good as "No Country" or "Eastern Promises," but it was a damn fine film, certainly one of the top five new movies I've seen over the last year. This is really a great time for great, dark, brutal movies (my very favorite kind)! A++
  22. Mine never broke or anything, but they haven't stayed on very well from the get-go. The design for the wings could have been improved upon, in my opinion (despite this, I sure hope that they will fit on the Archangel variant!).
  23. I picked up the motorcycle set today, with one thing in mind: Off to fight the Nazi zombie horde! But he's never too busy to wave at the kiddies.
