  1. This isn't a storyline, but it would be really fun if we got some A-Z mates based on OHOTMU. DST could do some really creative things with the box art. Before they pivoted to 6-figure box sets, I had imagined this as four waves of three two-packs (e.g. "A-B", "C-D") plus an extra set to make 26 total mates. Now it could be four box sets of six each, capped off with an exclusive two-pack.
  2. My read on it was that Gao was trying to poke holes in the notion of canon, fundamentally, by highlighting what she felt was hypocrisy. Definitely not an official Marvel Studios stance. I don't think her point is relevant, the vagaries of casting have nothing to do with narrative continuity.
  3. Classic Vision re-do with more modern detailed decals/tampos. Solid colors with phasing limb accessories.
  4. Agreed. I'd love to see the Inhumans rehabbed. (I'd also love to see the rest of the royal family mini-mated)
  5. Hm, if I were just starting out fresh, I'd look for big lots of loose MiniMates on sites like eBay and Mercari. Luke's Toy Store is also great for new releases (boxed), and loose singles. Otherwise, just follow your interests! Judging by your username, you may want to start with this one:
  6. Will they still be called "waves" ?
  7. Nice! That's a fun way to release a set. Thanks Zach!
  8. So good! That mate feels lifted straight from a classic panel.
  9. Also Nessex, totally with you on that unnecessary mech analysis, but cool to see the X-representation in Lego format. This reminds me a bit of the old ToyBiz transforming figures. Or even the more recent ML one:
  10. Are there any Lego motorcycles, past or present, that could be a good proxy for Ghost Rider?
  11. To be sure: my Marvel MiniMate collection is mighty, and there are many, many that don't exist as Marvel Legends. Credit where it's due: Dreadnoughts! First Appearance Blade! So many more that I can't think of because it's the end of the day! And yeah ML has gone nowhere near Starjammers yet, and they've only done a Lilandra head that you can sadly slap on a Silver Sable body and pretend. They did do a comic Ghost, but as part of an SDCC set, so advantage = MM. I think I'm mostly musing about my past twenty years collecting toys, and where my "deep cut" itch has been scratched. ML started strong with ToyBiz, threw at least one odd pick into several waves & did some interesting box sets, then there was a big lull when Hasbro first took over and... mistakes were made. That timing happened to coincide with the MMM renaissance, so there was plenty of really deep-bench character selection happening on the Minimate front. Then somewhere along the way Hasbro started stepping up (but I'm sure everyone has noticed that the costs have also been steadily stepping up). The fact of the matter is, ML could make some very obscure choices, and I'd skip them for space whereas if MMM put them out, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. Although for the record: I'm one of the suckers who bought a White Rabbit, because I will always go deep on Spider-Villains. Very excited to hear that there is more to come! I'll always be first in line to preorder a full wave (sometimes two).
  12. I've had vampire hunters on my custom to-do list for a couple of years now. I'm sure I'll eventually get to them, but this could be a sweet-looking box set if they included Dracula & Lilith (and/or Varnae), Hannibal King & Rachel Van Helsing. It makes me wonder how that old Strange Tales box set did, because it was one of my favorites of all time and I bought a couple of them. I'd welcome starting the GOG, even if they weren't complete for a while.
  13. I limited myself to just Marvel. And I really tried to keep it to eight. BUT I FAILED. 1. Doctor Doom (Best of) 2. Juggernaut (Excalibur) 3. Warlock (New Mutants) 4. Spiral 5. Apocalypse (Axis) 6. Doctor Octopus (Deadly Foes) 7. Beta Ray Bill (W42) 8. Surtur Plus Five: Hobgoblin (Heroic), Jack o' Lantern, Stilt-Man, Dreadnought, Blade (First Appearance)
  14. I have a question about SUITS for a... bunch of SUITS I'm working on! I'd like a bright blue open suit jacket. I found a closed one with animated Coulson. Does an open one exist? Is Gotham Jim Gordon the closest I'm gong to get?
  15. I recently picked up the "Shogun Figures" exclusive Godzilla, in the box that replicates the old 2ft Mattel figure. So cool.
  16. It seems that over the years, Marvel Legends and MiniMates have traded the "obscurity baton" back-and-forth, meaning taking the mantle of the line that goes deeper into the Marvel bench. Relative to the MiniMates peak in ~2009, we seem to be in modest hibernation here on the Marvel MM front. While at Marvel Legends, we see Leap-Frog, White Rabbit, Maggot (coming), D'Spayre, and all sorts of nuttiness. I'm glad there is still a trickle of product, but I wish there were more. For Legends, I'm still cherry-picking in a way that I wouldn't with MiniMates, because for MMs space isn't a constraint. But some of my favorite MLs of all time have come out recently, including Shang-Chi and classic Doctor Doom.
  17. Armor Wars Secret Wars (1984) Korvac Saga Tomb of Dracula Mutant Massacre
  18. Hey WookieFodder your sig still calls out Gladiator, who is coming in Wave81. Are you keeping it unchanged to lobby for Melvin Potter? ; )
  19. My 2 cents on Rhino: I love it. But: he's a bit hard to find right now, and that figure (while great), mixes two eras. It's mostly classic, but has the studded gauntlets of the 80s Sinister Syndicate version, making it a cool amalgam but technically inaccurate for either. My current wishes, for Spidey, FF and Avengers-related: I know Chuck's a huge Spidey fan, and y'all have gone pretty deep, but there are still a few classic characters I'd love to see, some which round out villain teams: Madame Web, Beetle (80s), Boomerang (80s), Swarm, Shocker (classic), Mr. Hyde, The Owl For FF-family, there are The Inhumans, The Watcher, Dragon Man, Thundra, Diablo and Psycho-Man Overall, I see the greatest opportunity / representation gaps in Avengers Villains ex: Attuma, Wrecking Crew, Whirlwind, Grey Gargoyle, Count Nefaria, Graviton, Tiger Shark, Man-Ape, Batroc, Blacklash, Serpent Society, Ringmaster, many many more
  20. There is no way I can pick just one. I think the Wave 41 Spider-Man + Green Goblin duo is a perfect pack, with my favorite Goblin 'mate and the ability to display him dragging a tied-up Peter Parker all over Manhattan. Doom is my favorite Marvel character, and I love the classics, so clearly I own multiple copies of Best Of Wave 2 Doctor Doom with his classic portrait and grey armor. And so very many more!
  21. Ah, I forgot about the crates! Just ordered one. 3 crates left 2 crates left!
