I could go on and on about why I love MiniMates, but I'd be preaching to the choir. It's interesting sometimes to muse about what might have helped Mates grab a stronger foothold/mindshare, or play armchair quarterback and game out scenarios to boost their profile, but for now I'm content that they are still coming out.

I still covet the unreleased Cow & Anubis-looking mates.

Outside of Spider-Sense as an excellent "classic standard," I am also very fond of: 1) The comic-accurate W41/TRU11 "Unmasked" Peter Parker: from the Goblin two-pack, with the rope accessory, I love that it recreates the classic cover. A perfect two-pack. 2) Six-Armed Spider-Man -- even though the arms don't always stay on the bracket so well, I love that they did this version.

Not obscure. One is an accessory. "Friends" -- not villains, not team members. 🤷‍♂️ I'm stumped.

When you say "general dislike" are you referring to some specific feedback you've seen/heard, or are you talking about "the market" i.e. referencing poor sales? I'm always curious to learn what people don't like about MiniMates. Personally/among friends I've encountered a lot more ambivalence than active dislike.

Thundercats were pretty well represented across the boxes they released. Some nice MiniMates there.

Ah those are all pretty legit choices -- Nightcrawler for Major Sarigar is inspired. I was bending my brain trying to think of how to do Cyborg Zeerod from Vol. 2. Maybe Splinter for the head? At one point I had picked out some bionic leg stand-ins.

That's amazing. Did you use Cylon chest pieces for the armor?

I'm glad I looked this up, because I was about to post a new topic. Classic Mega Man MiniMates. Yes, I know this would mean working with Capcom as a licensor, but these would be very cool and the modular nature of MMs would play really well with MM.

I have major parts envy here. I love the trench coat & hat, the bright colors, the red dress, the domino masks. Release the set!

Uni the unicorn! Zach mentioned previously they were doing one heroes six-pack, and one villains six pack, and each would have a pack-in figure. Feels like it could be either Uni or the Dungeon Master.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: I'm terrible at guessing Luke's customs! I think Chamber was the lone exception. When I hear "oldest" I go to 60s, 70s. I may be wrong in that fundamental assumption. I like Nessex's Moira MacTaggert guess. She used to pal around with Madrox. Maybe it's those two? I don't know who she'd be organically paired with. Certainly Proteus wouldn't be considered a "friend" right? Amanda Sefton?

I did buy that Marvel Select Destroyer. So f-ing good.

That is just an epic Minimate. It's definitely Top 5 on the all-time list for me. My favorite Classic Iron Man is a mix. I'm also someone who doesn't think he looks quite right in true gold, so I like the more comic-y yellows. But I also like really detailed tampos. So: Best of / Greatest Hits: I took everything but the arms & legs, since they look a little plain without detail. Ultimate Avengers 2 Pack-In: I took the arms & legs here, because the tampos are nuts -- unlike the very first Iron Man, both the wrists and the ankles have the concentric bands, and the yellow arms & legs have a lot of muscular detail.

I keep several, but my favorite is TRU13 Spider-Sense Spider-Man. It ticks a lot of boxes: Romita-esque, has web wings, lots of muscular detail in the tampos, and includes that cool spider-sense effect.

Ah Moomin? I used to work with a lot of Finnish people, that takes me back. Star Wars... sounds familiar. Was that the cheap knock-off of Battle Beyond the Stars?
