NorthRaider
Just thought I'd get this topic up and running in case anything interesting crops up at Toyfair. What does everyone think we'll be seeing then? I'm not holding my breath for a new license announcement, though that would be lovely. Most likely I think we'll be seeing prototypes of stuff we've already heard of like Marvel waves 33-35 and the M.A.X. vehicles line. And hopefully some actual confirmation about stuff like BTTF, Battle Beasts and Taro--*mmmfgh* *gets dumped into the boot of a nearby sedan* *sedan gets dumped into the ocean* ________ Update number one: Halo Minimates! Update number two: Arrr. Update number three: Possibly more unlicensed M.A.X. mates and vehicles? Jumbo update number four: Marvel wave 36! Monsters and firemen and porn stars, oh my! Update number five: Toyfair giveaway mate is a Battle Beast! And your Dad's a minimate too! And real smeggin' mini-minimates! Crazy! TBT!
I predict for new stuff we'll see at least one new License that has made in the past as kubricks & and an obscure film license.... T.
karamazov80
Insider info of some kind? I'll take a shot at what those could be. former Kubrick license (that presumably was not an obscure film)-- M.U.S.C.L.E. Similar to the Battle Beasts, they are wacky, small-ish figures from the 80s. I think they would make for great Minimates, as well, and the flesh colored versions could be cheap and popular variants. This is one of the few Kubrick licenses I've wanted to get toys from but never did. obscure film license (that probably won't actually get produced because of low pre-orders)-- Ferris Bueller's Day Off Not my first choice, but something I can imagine DST going after. If that isn't obscure enough, then I'll go with Knightriders. Because it is an awesome freakin' movie with awesome knights who ride motorcycles, and underneath the helmets--Ed Harris and Tom Savini. Nervous Rex
Yo K...I'd be all over M.U.S.C.L.E. mates...I had a ton of these, and still have a few floating around on my computer desk.

Apone
maybe army of darkness as the obscure film Though not what I would call obscure films, I think it would be quite ironic if DST made Minimates from a Kubrick film (unless Kubrick's estate can prevent that).
karamazov80
I know the Kubrick estate is notoriously stingy with licensing out its films' rights for collectibles. Otherwise, you know Hot Toys would be all over the Shining, Dr. Strangelove, and A Clockwork Orange for 1/6 scale figures (the latter would make for some fine Minimates, in my opinion). Evil Dead/Army of Darkness Minimates would be awesome. Of course, I would also like to see some David Cronenberg love. Say, Videodrome or the Fly. But I can't possibly imagine that happening Edited February 13, 2010 by karamazov80
BrobotC
all i know is that if DST does pic an obscure movie, itg has to be a movie we all know, right?im just hoping for army of darkness,or evil dead, anyone else wanna take a guess? wait, wasnt there spawn kubricks?oh snap!TBT care to give us another hint? Mystery Man
MUSCLE would be cool! I had those when I was a kid. I'm hoping for cool new boxed sets of Marvel stuff. New heroes and villains we've never gotten. Neat stuff like that!

Punisher
I hope we get a non-movie or comic licence. Like a video game perhaps?
MINI_MYTE
Sweet! Universal Monsters. Can't wait to see more pics of these guys. Too bad they will only be released once a year. I like the idea of B&W versions at TRU. Sort of reminds me of Sideshows old 6" line where they did silver screen versions (B&W) of Wlofman, Frankenstein, CFTBL, etc. Very exciting. As for my guess for what's instore at TF2010, I'll go out on a limb and say there'll be a videogame license and we'll see a potential line-up for a second series on minimate vehichles. And the obvoius slew of Marvel waves. Edited February 13, 2010 by MINI_MYTE

RaginCajun713
I would love for a M.U.S.C.L.E. or Evil Dead/Army of Darkness minimates. And the Ferris Bueller's Day Off would make sense since they're making a re-make of the movie, that would actually pretty cool to have as a movie tie in. They'll probably announce movie Deadpool and Green Lantern sets for the movies coming out next year, well hopefully they'll do them. Also, I know this sounds out of place but, SPONGEBOB MINIMATES!!! Or American Psycho or House of 1000 Corpses/The Devil's Rejects minimates!!! =DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I would love a Patrick Bateman and Captain Spaulding minimate! NorthRaider
It's funny, but "House of 1000 Corpses" suddenly got me on a mental tangent to House of Flying Daggers instead... and now I'm thinking maybe DST should consider giving wuxia Minimates another try. I wonder how Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon would've looked at the regular 2-inch scale... How exactly are we defining "obscure" here? Personally I just wish we may be able to see the day that we get Minimates of pirates to balance out our already-swollen stable of superheroes, cowboys and, erm, ninjaish guys. I don't care how DST does it; maybe the Disney deal gets them a shot at Pirates of the Caribbean, or maybe they'll go public domain and make figures of Treasure Island, or maybe they'll improvise with Marvel 1602. In any case, I just want at least one set of honest-to-goodness scurvy Minimate buccaneers and junk.
Danny
I think my wish for Minimate pirates is well documented. What was the film with Gina Davis in? Cutthroat Island? That'd do nicely!

AA an DST have no rights to Green Lantern; he's a DC Character. Only DC Direct is permitted to make DC Minimates. And they won't anymore. But hey, the 4 Horsemen and ToyGuru will be making 6" and 3/4" figures for the movie; that counts, right?? And just slap me some Minimates from, say, Desperate Housewives, and i'll finally stop collecting. Because my collection will be perfect. I love that show... Mirymate
Well, we know there's a new video game MM liscense, we've seen the Universal Monsters. I'm not sure how much more my heart can take. (aside from a good look at Marvel 36-40 and a couple of boxed sets) I'm curious what more SHS will get shown, and the 3 3/4" Marvel stuff my boys have taken a liking too. And there's a part of me that wants to see what's next from Transformers and JLU. But it's hard to get too excited about the non-Movie related Transformers since we know Hasbro is just going to abandon it when TF3 comes out. And my relationship with Mattel's JLU is like some kind of abusive mess where they keep screwing me over, yet I keep coming back for more like some battered spouse. TM2 Dinobot
I have a request, can we post updates for other stuff here aside from Minimates? I know it's still early, and not a lot is out, and there's other places you can look, but I was just wondering if this is a Minimate only thread? I think we all know what our deepest desires are. GI Joe and Star Wars.
NorthRaider
I would've preferred this to be an all-Minimate thread just to keep things a little "tidier", but seeing as we've already degenerated into wishlist mode again and the non-Minimate news might be of interest to others, I don't see why not. Then again starting another Toyfair thread for everything else in the Other Toys And Collectibles forum works too.
