Crank: High Voltage opinions...

Recommended Posts

I am well-aware that the 'c' word is taboo especially amongst the ladies & I guess rightly so. If you've never seen 'Deadwood' ,HBO's absolutely brilliant Western series', then you'll know why it never did nor ever will make mainstream TV viewing. The odd thing was that after a while you stopped noticing 'it' . I could never be absolutely sure whether it was gratuitous or just 'how things were'?

It's possibly one of my favourite words ever, and one I pronounce with much gusto. But there's a time and a place...

This, isn't the place. ;)

I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend anybody I just thought it was one of the funniest lines in Crank and I censored it myself it didn't self censor or whatever...once again sorry...

Deadwood must be put into syndication. I would watch every episode again just to enjoy the edits.

You've got to remember this forum, unlike some, have a lot of young members though. I didn't even get the reference, guess it's official, I am becoming a parent

I wrote the forum to talk about Crank;not to get a lesson about children on the forum or even whether this is the right place for it.And besides I think I'm the youngest one on this site;I'm barely fourteen.I take accountability fully for having offended anyone, but seriously I'm sure everyone on here is mature enough to read a word that is taboo even though it was censored.I know I can handle it and I'm pretty sure most of you can too.I don't want to bring this up,but underage people, like me play video games and watch movies with much worse words and actions in them;Ive frackin seen watchmen 3 times and here in America it's rated R.is saying that word really worse than seeing Silk Spectre have sex with Nite Owl? Or even seeing doctor manhattans penis?if any of you have seen the departed you've seen heads blow up and bodies be trashed...In a nutshell all I'm saying is sorry and that I think we all need to come to terms with the changing world around us, and accept the fact that your children will probably here this at school or with their friends any way so come to terms with the fact that if children are on this site posting and talking to strangers it all comes down on the parents and having no control over today children. Once again sorry

To the youngest from the oldest..... you didn't offend me. I completely agree that the portrayal of violence is far more harmful than a conglomeration of letters. "Sticks & stones may break my bones but words will never harm me"

As somebody said to me in the pub recently "If only you had a clitoris Beavis you'd be a complete c*nt" ;)

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but your apology wasn't one. It was just a justification of what you feel is right.

And for the record, I am offended. For real. And so you know, I turn off movies if they have that kind of language. This board is set-up for individuals to use some self-censorship and usually it's not an issue. I think using a word that is taboo, knowing it is, is not showing respect to others that come across what you've said. If it was in a post, it'd be bad enough, but I could ignore it. But putting in your title is crosses a line that doesn't show much respect for others. This board usually isn't R-rated.

Just throwing this out there so maybe you can see that not everybody here agrees with you. I would ask that if you want to continue your discussion, could you at least change the title to show some respect?

I don't appreciate that one bit;)and whether I apologized correctly or not GH I justified my point and so did you.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And why the h*ll aren't we talking about Crank yet?and how do I change the title? If someone would be kind enough to tell me I'd be glad to do s*.(sorry I didn't know if so was a naughty little word or not)

You were doing just great ,GH,until you got to the bit about "Does my tan....."

What the hell is the difference between what he 'said' & what you 'said'.

None.

I didn't put it in a title that shows up when someone is browsing.

It's not about expressing an opinion, it's about mutual respect for others. Even though you can talk about anything, a little more discretion should be used when it comes to controversial things. That's all I'm saying.

Alrite thanks for changing the subject and I'll try to use my words with more discretion next time...I didn't mean to be a jerk or give off that impression now can we please just talk about Crank?

Alright... Crank...

I HATED the first movie. And I see no reason why there should be a sequel. Totally unnecessary. Just as unnecessary as every Direct-to-DVD Disney sequel. And that's as unnecessary as they come.

Didn't he die at the end of the first one, falling out of a helicopter or something? If so, I'm curious to see how he survived. Even Hulk couldn't survive that (in the original series).

Crank is just an action movie with as little plot as possible so that you can add ten more minutes of action. I enjoyed the first, and I will see the second, on DVD. I like a mindless action movie some days. Classics like the governor's Commando totally mindless. He kills something like 87 people in that film. Shoot 'em Up with Clive Owen no real point just action. They are 90 minutes of pure testosterone. Sometimes you need something to balance out stuff like Twilight.

Haven't seen Crank, but I really enjoyed Shoot 'Em Up. Maybe because in it they were being over-the-top with the gun stunts on purpose. I love it, very meta.

Twilight... I have not seen and I have no intention of doing so in the future. Not because it reeks as a movie (I liked Catherine Hardwicke's other films, Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown), but because I won't touch anything Stephanie Meyer-related with a ten-foot pole. Long story.

I enjoy a "mindless" action movie as much as the next guy, but am not a fan of movies with too many "Avid farts" and crappy "nu metal" music (or anything made by Michael Bay). This usually turns me off to Statham's stuff, though he wasn't bad in Bank Job. Die Hard and the recent Taken are examples of terrific, completely straight forward action movies that are somehow great despite not having those things.

I hated Shoot Em' Up...it had no story whatsoever...a dude named Smith eats carrots, likes hookers, and gets his fingers broken...Crank has a more realistic atmosphere...so the movie Crank ended like this:The movie concludes with Chelios confronting Verona in a helicopter mid-flight. The two fall from the copter, and Chelios manages to kill Verona in mid-air. Chelios hits the ground, supposedly being killed on impact. But two heartbeats can be heard and Chelios blinks right before the screen cuts to black, hinting at his survival. He has a nearly indistructable heart but that leaves more to be answered...in High Voltage...(the only part I liked in Shoot Em' Up was the mother spanking scene)
