Figma figures!

TM2 Dinobot

Recommended Posts

HOLY CRAP!!! Red Saber!!! I never liked "original Saber" just because of the costume the anime gave her, and Lily is way too expensive to take out of the box (not that i have her to try. ;)) Bt this one is fantastic!!! She'll look nice next to Rin, both being in red.

Haven't boght Figmas in a long while. i'll have to ckeck the Japanese site again for a checklist of Fate/Stay Night figures. Shame Haruhi lost track, though. Great show, better figures.

Haruhi will be back. I mean the only oke that's blatantly missing is Bunny Haruhi. bunny and Nurse Mikuru right behind that. But yeah, they'll be back. The movie comes out on 2/6/10 so just wait. And just keep repeating that to myself that they'll be back. *whimper*

Darn it, Dinobot! Stop making me broke-er!

Some of those figures look pretty cool, though the alternate face on Woody seems to be giving off too much of that creepy EEEK HE'S STARING INTO MY SOUL!!! vibe. I do like the Woody figure, along with Jack Skellington and the kaiju-looking ones. I'm concerned that Jack's skinniness might make him a tad fragile though, same goes for the insane amount of sculpting on that xenomorph.

In other news, look who just showed up today! :D

I had a brief scare with Drossel's shoulder joints a little while ago, but other than that she's been a lot of fun to play with indeed. I even went crazy with the picture-taking poses (but then again this is Drossel we're talking about ;)):

Nice! You have to get her a segway too XD

I'm excited that they're making Touhou Project figmas. They've already made Reimu, and Marisa is coming out this May. If they make Remilia Scarlet my friend will totally buy her.

Very funny guys :P

Seriously though, it is absolutely ridiculous how overwhelming the urge is for me to acquire another Figma, never mind that I'm not even that fully-versed in most of Max Factory's Figma properties bar Fireball. (I've seen but a single episode of Haruhi Suzumiya and everything else I'm not that invested in.)

However I have watched more than my fair share of Code Geass lately, so I find it cool that at least we have figures of Lelouch and Suzaku now. Which brings me to my burning question: Will they ever release a C.C. Figma?! (Or anyone else from the series, really. A lot of cool-looking characters, after all.)

I know that she uses one of them to fly. You can watch most of the series (they're shorts) on Youtube, just search for DATS Fireball. DATS is a group of fans that puts subtitles on the bottom of the screen.

So how much was she, and how were you able to tell if it was authentic or not (say on like eBay)? One auction said it was a Taiwan OEM version and don't bid if you mind, and I'm like "...what?"

Dio's got it right, karamazov: in one of the Fireball shorts Drossel "wears" a sort of headpiece thing that was originally designed by her creator. At first she thinks it's just a fashion accessory, that is until she *accidentally* discovers that they actually have rocket boosters in them

Fireball really is a fun little series karamazov; for one thing it's a relatively self-contained story once you manage to track down all 13 shorts on YouTube (that was how I discovered the series, which isn't bad for somebody who can't tell the difference between a torrent and a videostream ). Given that the main character of the series is a bratty little robot princess archetype, you'd be quite surprised to learn that the actual setting of the story is a distant dystopian future where the humans are rebelling against the robots, who are implied to be the ruling class. In addition, the absurd humor and writing of the series is a step up from some of the saccharine drivel Disney's putting out these days, since we're taking about an animated short that gets away with little tricks like breaking the fourth wall and naming a robot monkey "Schadenfreude". (Did I mention that Drossel herself is implied to be part-German in origin? ;))

Long story short is that I quite like the Drossel Figma bacause on its own it's got a very cool futuristic design. The fact that the character's source material makes for some pretty entertaining viewing as well is pretty much the cherry on top of it all.

As suspicious as it sounds, I got Drossel off of our local eBay, courtesy of this seller. She cost me about $40 plus shipping, and as for vouching for her authenticity we have quite a dedicated anime-centric marketplace here so it's (thankfully) not that common to run across fake Figmas here. Which is more than I can say for everything else, oddly.

Well since I'm still new to this I wouldn't really know how to tell authentic Figmas from the knock-offs, though from what I've gathered from some 'Net research some of the most telltale signs include inconsistencies in the box printing, wonky limb joints and easy-to-overlook flaws in the plastic like with the sheen or uneven mold casting. Of course the only sure way to tell would be to have an authentic Figma on hand for comparisons, so... yeah.

Ah. Here's the official site for figmas to see if there are any more Code Geass figures:

http://www.goodsmile.info/archive/en/produ...2010/all/1.html

Anyone have this guy.

If so, can you tell me what he is doing in that picture? Thanks.

Yea...that's one of Figma's darker places...they made 3 or 4 versions of a very famous famous celebrity in Japan to honor him.

He's also a gay porn star. Go figure.

Glad you're liking Drossel, NR!! I've considered her, but she's just too damn expensive when there are so many other Figmas i want before her. Currently, i have:

Rin Tohsaka (DEAR GOD I LOVE THIS FIGURE!! Fate/Stay Night is just WIN.)

Haruhi Suzumiya (the good-ole original)

But my buy-list consists of:

Rider (I LOVE FATE/STAY NIGHT.) What is weird, is that i was listening to her character song and opened the Figma page, and there she was. First time i saw her. Creepy??

Shana Enpatsu Version

Original Saber (Fate, again. :))

Saber Lily (BEAUTIFUL. And expensive)

Battle Waitress Mikuru (Ah...goooood episode)

Shirou Emiya

Archetype Male

Achetype Female

Needless to say, i'll never have them all. :P

Here's the sad news. Both Code Geass Figmas are highly limited and highly sought after. Also, there are no plans to continue the line. Not sure, why, so don't ask. Perhaps their license expired.

I just bought Rin, and her pigtails haven't broken yet, but she's amazing. I like her much better than Lucky Star, even though I love that anime. I am one Figma (Witch Yuki) away from having every single MoHS Figma out there. Talk about frustrating and exciting!

Huh, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. To me it appears that one of Figma's strengths is its well-designed 3-dimensional treatment of female anime characters (is it just me, or is a majority of the line firmly rooted in putting out stunning action figures of badass women/schoolgirls?), yet of all the Code Geass characters they had the opportunity to translate to toy form, they go with the two pretty skinny boys in identical black uniforms. Must indeed be a quirk in the license then.

And between you and me Dinobot, I certainly wouldn't be averse to seeing Sailor Moon Figmas either ;) I mostly say this out of nostalgia, since it's one of the earliest anime series my siblings and I were really into. And really the only characters I badly want to get are the Outer Senshi, and maybe Sailors Jupiter and Mars.

BUUUUUT we're now veering dangerously close to pipe dream territory here, so I'm gonna have to cut myself off right here and say that I actually like quite a few of the released/upcoming Figmas out there even though I'm unfamiliar with the source material. Hopefully I'll consider getting another one very soon.

Interesting. So am I correct to assume that you own this sassy little beauty right here?

Because MoHS fan or not, this is one figure that I actually wanted the moment I saw her! :D

Yeah, Max Factory seems to have taken of the challenge of male-dominated toydom. They still do guy figures, but most of their releases have been female. But then again most of the anime they've pulled from have been with girls.

And between you and me Dinobot,

And everyone else here

I don't know, if they did get the SM license, they'd put out most if not all of the Senshi, and hopefully some of the bad guys. Fingers crossed and all that jazz.

I do. And she's spunky as all get out in person.
