CBMM1 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 http://www.nerdist.com/2014/07/exclusive-todd-mcfarlane-on-his-upcoming-walking-dead-building-toy-sets/ These look pretty good. They look like a good scale for Minimates! What do you guys think? Quote
UK Collector Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I hope they are to minimate scale. That prison tower and fence looks great. Quote
buttheadsmate Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 " these things are only a couple of inches tall......" [paragraph just above Governor's room pic] Quote
MisterPL Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 It's amazing how Todd McFarlane can do all that stuff by himself. Seriously, Todd McFarlane's ego is so big it affects the tides. "Climate change" is just a fancy way of saying that Todd McFarlane is making the whole planet cooler. As for the sets, I might pick one up on clearance. The tough part is going to be merchandising these things because they look nothing like traditional brick sets. They're more likely to sell in the model aisle with the other glueless kits. Quote
elmeaux Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) " these things are only a couple of inches tall......" [paragraph just above Governor's room pic] In context of the whole statement it does sound like he is saying the figures are a couple inches tall. Looks like it could be a cool displays for WD Minimates. Edited July 8, 2014 by elmeaux Quote
JeffBohn Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Definitely interested. I didn't get that those were pictures of the actual building block toys, when I finally saw that my mind was a little blown. Hopefully the finished product looks as good, and we get an RV. Quote
bzorio Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Cool! I'll try to use them for the Marvel Minimates as well. Quote
MisterMiracle Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Those sets look pretty cool. I think they're going to be just a tad out of scale though. Quote
elmeaux Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Some of it looks out of scale to the included figures already so maybe that will swing it in our favor. Quote
Shamrock Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Todd Mcfarlane hilariously misunderstands the appeal of Lego Quote
elmeaux Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I'm more concerned about durability than anything. Based on previous McF toys I've owned, I expect the blocks to just crumble when you attempt to put them together. Quote
bzorio Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) First scaled picture! More photos here: https://www.facebook.com/liketoddmcfarlane Edited July 9, 2014 by bzorio Quote
youbastards Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 They don't even look to scale to their own figures...there's no way the Governor would be able to walk upright through that door. Quote
MisterMiracle Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Hmmm...they look way smaller now. When are they due out? Quote
MisterPL Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Will these work with ANY other bricks? I know how much Todd likes to do his own thing. I wouldn't put it past him to buck the paradigm just out of spite. The only good news I see here is that the guy doesn't have a clue why block figures are so popular so he'll likely never enter the category himself. That means licensing Spawn for Minimates might be possible. (Just have to add banks and bottle openers to the agreement as well.) Quote
Zombie Shakespeare Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 In the article, he says that they are compatible with other building sets. There's also a lot of nipple talk, but only a few pictures of said nipples. Quote
MisterPL Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I noticed that but I took it to mean the sets were compatible with each other, not necessarily with other brands like MegaBloks and Lego. I guess we'll see. Quote
minimadman Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Crosspost from the comparability thread. I found the Walking Dead builder sets tonight. mini figure comparison The scale is a little off, but it's not bad. I really like the set as a whole. I'm tempted to buy the prison set. Here are all the pictures I took. http://imgur.com/a/F19Fn Quote
Ninja Mate Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Saw this video with a minimate size comparison with The Governor's Room. Quote
bzorio Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I just got the Daryl with Chopper building set! As I don't have Ghost Rider yet, Logan and Captain America will fight for it. Quote
Ninja Mate Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I bought the governers room. Cool sets...but really are to small for minimates. Quote
bzorio Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Well, I think this chopper is very compatible. I liked it a lot! Just need to wait for my Ghost Rider now. Meanwhile the Main Man mastered it. Quote
