  1. I don't know...Playmates recently did all 4 in the original comic style and they look kinda bad. The original comic art doesn't translate to 3D form very well. Too scratchy and loose in my opinion. NECA did about the best job you'll see in toy form for the original comic Turtles. But the new IDW designs are a lot closer to the Nick and other recent designs and I think would look good in Minimate form. And I think Playmates would do them justice as well. Just look at the Classics Turtles. Those are right on par with the NECA Turtles as far as translating the original designs to modern figure form.
  2. I'm beginning to think they are hitting some likeness rights issues with Drax.
  3. I would definitely like to see the IDW designed Turtles in 'mates figure form, either Mini- or Play-. I think they could be customized pretty easily with some new facial expressions. The body colors, belts and knee & elbow pads are pretty similar to the Nick designs we already have. Hmmm... now I'm going to have to look at doing this myself.
  4. Hulk was $300 when he came out a couple years ago. And he was a relatively "simple" sculpt and paint with torn up pants and no accessories besides a couple extra hands. Thanos here will be slightly smaller than Hulk but has all that intricate sculpting and paint. Throw in the light up throne base and the "popularity" mark up and "inflation" and $415 isn't so far out of line, with how Hot Toys prices things. I'm not saying that's a good price for the figure or anything, just basing it on observations of Hot Toys pricing "strategy". Having said that... *sigh*, yeah I flexpaid this guy. He's just too cool looking to pass up. Especially considering the "Infinity War" version is at least 2 years away from being seen let alone produced IF it gets produced at all.
  5. I don't want to scroll back through 30 pages of posts. Have we seen packaged samples yet? If not I don't think we should worry about these not being out just yet.
  6. Should we read this as DST is handling the replacements? Asking for others as my sets were fine.
  7. I was swapping parts on a Shredder and broke the knee peg on one of his legs pretty easily. So easily in fact that I didn't realize it was broken until I went to put it on the leg I was swapping it to. Sheared right in half. The joint was kind of sticking so I was being careful but thought it just popped loose like they do sometimes. Now I need to buy another Shredder to make the custom I was working on. And find a way to use the broken Shredder leg. Maybe a peg leg for a pirate?
  8. Okay maybe I missed it mentioned here before today but I just watched a couple episodes of the new cartoon and saw that the Krang is an armybuilder. Now my compulsion to have at least 2 of each armybuilder is pushing me to be okay with paying for an overpriced Krang on ebay. BTW I'm impressed with the cartoon. It didn't look like something that would appeal to me at first but I was wrong. It's pretty entertaining and fun.
  9. Every time I see that Spidey-sense effect I think of those foam Statue of Liberty headbands. I like your Flash and Green Arrow shot too. That head definitely looks like Grant Gustin, the current TV Flash so if that's what you were going for mission accomplished.
  10. I bought that Milano to do the same thing, display my GotG 'mates. I also got the Rocket Warbird for Rocket and Groot. Almost picked up the Nova ship but as I only have 2 Nova troopers I didn't want to hide one in the ship.
  11. I'd like to do the rest of the Nostromo crew but I think I'm going to wait and see what DST comes up with first.
  12. I'm the opposite of Glantern I guess. I'm more into the new looks than the older ones. Wave 60, while a very cool wave for "classic" X-fans is one I'm going to pass on. The looks just don't appeal to me. This wave though really looks cool and I like it a lot. That's what's great about Minimates in general and the Marvel 'mates specifically. There's a little something for everyone.
  13. I'm in for all but the Hobgoblin/Carnage set. Just not a Spidey fan. But the others are pretty sweet. And I'll be getting 2 of the Cap/Onslaught pack for sure.
  14. The first I ever acquired was the DC promo Jon Stewart Green Lantern from SDCC. I have 2 of that one. Next was a BSG Cylon giveaway from SDCC (think I have 2 of that one as well) then nothing until I snagged a couple Iron Man 2 2-packs from TRU (Mark IV / War Machine & Mark V / Whiplash). Didn't get any more after that until the Thundercats showed up (only way to get all the 'cats in the same style/scale) and the rest is 2" history.
  15. These aren't for me except as civilian fodder.
  16. Patricks head looks like its a full helmet over the standard Minimate round head instead of a standalone sculpted piece. I think that's what is making it look "off". You can see where the 'mate head pokes out the cone shape of the pointy head, like its stretched over the round head. The sides of the pointy cone taper in around the 'mate head so it fits in the neck hole for the chest cap. If they can find a way to make the head cap more triangular and still work with the chest cap I think it would look better. These aren't for me but I have to say I'm very impressed with how they look. Lots of cool new parts and great creativity shown here.
  17. Zach - is one of the specialty figures an exclusive? Or will the TRU wave have 6 different 2-packs (4 Turtle packs, 1 variant pack (Mutagen Donnie?) and a 2nd exclusive pack)?
  18. I hate to say it but I really want to see that crotchburster pose with the other face.
  19. Yeah the Turtles accessories will help determine if I keep them or not.
  20. Gotta say the Turtles are a bit disappointing. I'll still get a case to guarantee a full set and maybe customize the Turtles or something. Question - is the Norman guy the armybuilder in this series?
  21. I just opened up my box set. The helmets on Cap and Thanos were on really tight but with a little work (and a small flat head screwdriver) I was able to get them off. And I think the face tampos are set up too high for the helmets. Thanos eyes are almost completely hidden and Caps are hard to see due to the way the helmet forces the head forward. My Thanos popped in half when I tried to get him out of the tray. Same with Hulk. I know it has been mentioned but a longer waist peg would have made these close to perfect. Keeping them from falling apart when posing and playing around is a real hassle. My Thane looks about as close to perfect as I could expect. No torso marks and the top of the head tampos are nearly flawless (just a slight smidge too far to the right but totally within the margin of error, and at least the arrows are lined up correctly). I think Thane would make a good base for a Man of Steel movie style Sinestro if you had another gold hand to replace the claw hand. Cap, the one I was most looking forward to and what made me buy the set, is a bit of a disappointment. His helmet stuck, the collar on the space suit interferes slightly with the helmet and hair and the range of motion in the shoulders is lacking, even with the space suit harness moved up and out of the way. He'll look good as a display piece with a blank or clear head though so I'm okay with it I guess. Overall I wasn't too thrilled with this set. I didn't have high expectations for it and only bought it for a couple figures but a few flaws add up to a mediocre group.I bought it mostly for the space suit Cap and to have a Thanos for my movie GotG 'mates. If the Hulk and Thanos figs had waist pegs that were long enough to hold them together I wouldn't be as disappointed. The helmets and even Caps shoulders I can deal with. But when 2 of 4 figures fall apart easily it kinda takes some of the fun out of them.
  22. https://www.yahoo.com/movies/avengers-age-of-ultron-toy-reveal-did-we-spot-108005803672.html?src=rss Looks like the Hasbro toys are following the GotG model and moving to 2.5" figures, vehicles and playsets. The new Quinjet looks to be similar to the Milano which we've seen is Minimate compatible. The playsets look like they might work for 'mates as well. But what is of direct interest to this thread is the figure designs. First image of the War Machine suit. Given that DST made a War Machine in the IM2 line even though the armor didn't appear in the movie in that form I think we could see this AoU War Machine in one of the waves even if he doesn't appear in the movie in the suit. Also I believe this is the first showing of the "sub-Ultron" drones. Not sure I like the looks of the "cycle Ultron" or "spider Ultron" and whatever the others are but it gives us some idea of what we could expect in the dump cases. Hulk and Thor don't look too much different from their Avengers costumes. Cap has the updated red white and blue. Iron Man has the red and gold Mk43 with the colors almost exactly reversed from the Mk42.
  23. Ok, thanks for the clarification. I just thought I remembered the suit Kraang eyes being squinty, not wide like the bodyless Kraang. I don't watch the show so the only frame of reference I have for these is the old 90's cartoon and the current IDW comics.
  24. POP! Vinyl figures are about 4-5 inches tall. I think the RV might be just a bit too big for Minimates. I've seen the TMNT Party Wagon van and the '66 Batmobile in person and they are pretty big and the proportions are skewed (as is the nature of the POP! design). It might work as a backdrop but I think it would still be a bit too far out of scale for believability.
  25. I never noticed before, but is the Kraang in the robot belly supposed to be sleeping? Or did TENIME_art's figure get missed eye paint apps?
