  1. I'm not familiar with the pieces in question, but are there likely to be comparable Lego pieces that could be used? I've got a number of other C3 sets and most bits are the same as Lego ones. Admittedly, some are specific to the sets (like the mini-flyer wings), but you may be able to find something. Hope that helps.
  2. Yeah, I'm kinda in two minds. I'd love to see more characters from The Batman as they're mostly very different to the comic characters. The JLU ones are mostly similar to their comic versions with a little less detail, so I'm a bit less bothered. I'd prefer a white t-shirt Supergirl though. Jo
  3. DC's website has an "Ask DC Direct" section that gets updated every 2-4 weeks. They seem to pick and choose the questions they feature, and don't say much in the way of answers, but it's one avenue. Jo
  4. Just as a note, be aware that Australian or NZ stores can be a little...strange about credit cards, as they aren't used as much there as they are in the UK or America. You'll probably be fine, but don't get freaked out if they prefer bank transfers or something. Jo
  5. Got my MP-05 Megatron and BT-17 Black Convoy earlier this week. They pretty. Worth noting though that BC was a bit heavier than Megatron. Also, e-hobby has a listing up for BT-18 "Clear version" Ligier (Mirage). I have a pre-order set up, but thought I'd spread the word. No pics yet though. Jo
  6. Worst for me: DCD Robin - he just freaks me out with that creepy grin. Seriously, I don't even have the figure yet and it's giving me nightmares. Best: C3 Nightwing. He's perfect. Honourable mentions: Rhino - means I can play Deadpool and have him on a keyring Kitty Pryde - Nice and cute, and the phasing makes it a little better than just a parts re-use Iron Fist - the most-often posed minimate I have (so many leaping and punching poses) Harley Quinn - I just can't not love her. There's a lot more I like, but that'll have to do for now. Jo
  7. I'd love to see a tv-specific DC line - there's some great figures from The Batman, Teen Titans and Legion of Super Heroes. that could be done. I mention these as they are more of a change from the comcs than most of the characters in JLU - though a few of those warrant seperate figures from their comic versions Otherwise: Firefly Dead Like Me Bones Scrubs Billy and Mandy Smallville Hellboy The Tick And possibly some others. Jo
  8. Well, I wasn't here six months ago, but I am now. I'm in Derby. Jo
  9. I bought a cheap lot of Lego from ebay to make different stands out of. Works nicely, and also means I can change the way they're setup every now and then. Jo
  10. I wonder if it's similar to Transformers prototypes - they often deliberately mess up a part of the paint scheme in order to... annoy people? I think the idea is to make them less desirable to proto thieves, but I'm not sure. Suffice to say, we've seen it a few times. Anyway, that's my little bit of information for the day. As you were. Jo
  11. Same here Jo (who just wanted to be part of the group)
  12. Forgot my Cylon eunuch. Considering I have six figures, two of which have assembly problems, that says a lot. Anyone have any luck getting a reply from DST's Customer Services? Or did you go through any other channels? Any tricks to try? (a la: "its for my dying grandmother, she only wanted to see a killer robot in a cute two-inch form before she died") Jo
  13. Hi there, assuming your still after this info... you'll have to ask someone else about the first one. Sorry, I've not been around long enough As far as size, they're about 5cms high (or 6.5 for the new DC Brainiac), so about twice as tall as a lego figure. C3 basic blocks are the same as Lego. There are a number of special bits that have been made for particular sets (such as the wings for the miniflyers) but generally you can think of C3 as being Lego. Hope that helps, Jo Dammit, Fujis got in first. I was going to be useful! *sob*
  14. I got two left arms on my Toyfair Starbuck. No reply from customer services... Jo
  15. Ok, I haven't got these yet, but based on the pictures, here's my thoughts. Robin & Penguin - *Disclaimer* I don't like the Silver Age. I got in to comics more recently and positively cringe when I've read some of the sixties stuff. I love some of the earlier characters (like Plastic Man, etc.) but there are some eras that really should be brushed under the carpet. Of course, I'm not in the majority when I say this. Therefore, whilst a lot of people seem to really like this Robin, I think he's a bit rubbish. The pants just make be feel a little uneasy looking at him and, combined with the cheesy grin, remind me of the "Batman as a paedophile" thing. Penguin is... interesting. I love the face and like the idea of the smaller shoes, but he doesn't quite look right in the white coat. Superman & Brainiac - I love the look of Brainiac, though I don't find him that recognisable - I'm more used to the JLU version. The size difference seems just enough to be realistic, and makes me look forward to Croc and Bane. Superman looks good. That's all really, I don't read DC for the big characters. Hopefully AA learn from the Marvel waves and don't give us too many Superman/Batman figures. It's looking hopeful so far. Power Girl and Dr. Fate - I love Geoff Johns' JSA so I was really looking forward to these two, especially after I found out the good doctor was Hector Hall. Both figures look good, though Fate does suffer a bit from being a bit simplistic. Not a major problem, as you wouldn't want more detail added than the character actually has. Power Girl looks great and is probably as close to the comics version as a minimate can get. Blue Beetle & Booster Gold - These guys are some of my favourite characters. The Skeets accessory is a genius idea and seems to have been implemented extremely well. I would have preferred a slightly less neutral expression for Ted (or a word balloon that could be attached, saying "I'm more mature now, I have a heart condition!") but overall he's great. Overall the wave is nice. Creepy Robin aside, they've picked a good assortment of characters, and the variety pretty much ensures that I'll just have to get everything that DCD put out. Here's looking forward to wave 3 though. Jo
  16. that took me far too long to work out. I'm going to go sleep somewhere. Jo
  17. And one of your wishes will be granted! Jay Garrick is coming in wave 4, along with Wildcat. Admittedly, they're in their modern, slightly older-looking faces, but he does at least have the hat. Y'know, the most annoying thing for me is that people keep adding ones that I'd like. Can we do a top 100? Jo
  18. Thanks for the link Are-jay, I'd missed that one. The rate I'm going, I'll have an army of Spidey mates, and I haven't bought any of the older ones. And yeah, venom does look a bit better in that shot than in previous ones. My apologies to Will Work 4 mates. I was a little sharper than intended in my reply, which was over the line for me. Sorry for that. Jo
  19. Isn't your next election in 2008? Or am I wrong here? Trouble is, there's only so many times people can buy a spidey minimate without thinking they're getting more of the same thing they already have. Yes, these movie-mates are very nice, especially for us newer collectors, but the standout figures to me are Gwen Stacey, Mary Jane and the new Goblin. Jo
  20. Transformers Binaltech/Alternators are also fun to use as vehicles, but no Batmobile. Jo
  21. My local still hasn't received DC wave 1. When they do, I'll have to pay £6.99 (~$14) a set, and I want another Joker/Harley for my other half. Welcome to shopping in the UK (just to clarify, I have a full DC wave 1 set from another source, so at this point in time I'm just checking my local out of curiosity) Jo "I'm English, queueing is what we do"
  22. To rip from Global Frequency: "look mum, Spider-man's a girl - and she looks like us!" just thought it'd fit. I'll go home now. Jo
  23. From the group shot, it looks like we've now got a masked and unmasked Goblin instead. Wonder if and how the assortment has changed. Jo
  24. Yeah, count me in with the "no variants please" crowd, and not just for the reason TITAN mentioned. No variants means an extra figure per wave, and no redundant figures (though I think BSG did it well by having Cylons packaged with the variants) Jo
  25. Personally, I was very amused by the fact that Power Girl has the (entirely appropriate) larger chest piece. They coulda done just a cape... Really looking forward to these - is that the Hector Hall Dr. Fate? I always thought Kent Nelson was clean shaven. Thanks for the pics, Jo
