  1. I should be pleased with how things turned out but...you know me Wrong hairpieces & wrong versions spoiled what I did get.
  2. Valkyrie , always on any list of mine. Superb. Deadpool...the first one ,stunning. Silver age Angel .....I reckon I'll be lonely with that choice but that one is an almost perfect Minimate .
  3. Great idea ,I'll come back to you in due course. In the meantime ....my first choice would be Battle Beast 'Zik' , by far the worst 'mate ever made but ideal for getting the fire going whilst I'm thinking about the other seven.
  4. Yet again I'll go with the previous poster , W2 Black Spidey is an absolute class act . The SM3 Movie 2 pack 'mates are amongst the best 'technically perfect' 'mates ever made , there are many excellent Spider-Man 'mates .....& Riot Spidey .
  5. I've got to go with the original Hulkbuster but that very first TRU Stealth/Gauntlet pack heralded in an entirely new era of minimates.....perhaps my favourite Marvel 2-pack of all, they are sensational. It is incredible that that set was released 13 years ...almost to the day .....I wobbled in my Minimate collecting at that time, how was I going to get access to ToysRUs Minimates ??? I thank my lucky stars for all the help I have been given, then & now.
  6. I'm pretty sure somebody will point out that I've said other than the original Black Spidey...perfect then, perfect now.
  7. Eaglemoss have announced an 'XL' dropship ....perhaps it might prove suitably scaled ?
  8. From the moment these were announced I was ....confused . I wouldn't be quite so cynical (?) about these if DST were to produce ...er......er....transformed versions as a future release . I'm sure that that is not going to happen
  9. I would've also put bearded Thor amongst the 'finest' but backed off because of ...er..his beard & his head in general.
  10. It occurred to me that I failed to mention what I had been thinking .....the Beta Ray Bill 'mates have the head molded with the helmet . It would seem that a Norse hero's head doesn't warrant a one piece helmeted head although an 'orse hero gets one It should also borne in mind that the early Thor minimates were sans hair piece so we had a choice of 'big thick helmeted' Thor or bald Thor .......not to be confused with Balder Thor. The helmet over hair effectively works (to a degree) but I believe it makes the figure top-heavy .
  11. Welcome back . I am humbled by the fact that you started this thread way before I blessed this forum with my presence .... ...... & what a thread it is .
  12. Rein it in MisterPL or you'll stirrup trouble . -butthaysmare
  13. I consider that a definitive Thor has never been made ....for 3 or 4 reasons ......helmet, arms & perhaps cape. Thor is big but he ain't no Hulk but I (in my mind) always associate (comic) Thor with massively strong arms encompassed by a suitably massive cape . We have the cape on a few Thors but we have yet to get the arms . Minimates 'suffer' helmets & hats .....period. Why on earth DST can't just mold a head & helmet as one has always been beyond me...they do it when it suits them not when the character would benefit. This applies to many Minimates, none more so than Thing but don't start me on that one! All Thors would benefit from an 'arm-change' & IMHO all existing Thors benefit from the immediate removal of their helmets. FA Thor perhaps gets my vote .
  14. Butt monster 'mates ?? -buttmonstermates
  15. A golden moment for those sinister members amongst us on this forum who thrive on 'le double entendre' -whiteballs'mate
  16. Explained perfectly Probably .....although I think it is more likely that the adhesive used was incompatible with the surface of the card which had been 'varnished '. The card part of the packaging is undoubtedly UV varnished which IMVHO ( 30 years a printer) can create problems if a non-compatible adhesive is used . In my day ( & it is a mere rumour that I drank with Gutenburg & Heidelberg) we would not varnish the areas on the card that would (ultimately) take the adhesive , we would thereby reduce incompatibility between surface of the printed sheet & the adhesive between the blister. -boringheadsmate I ,generally, have nothing but praise for the printing & packaging of Minimates but my observation (above) was a very basic mistake which went on for far too long & became ridiculous.
  17. disclaimer : It's not that I'm not looking forward to these it's just that I know little about GI Joe . That said I am intrigued by the packaging . Over the years (I believe) DST has been restricted by licensors in the way that Minimates are 'shown' in their packaging....it still seems incredible to me that (for example) Marvel Minimates have yet to be 'shown' in a format as we are seeing with GI Joe. The art on the Joe package may work well for 'us' Minimate fans but ....& I might be being obtuse......does it work well for first time buyers ? Artwork (however good) does not beat seeing the toys in their yays (sic). On the other hand maybe the flap cover may well be the new answer to an old licensing restriction ?
  18. Great stuff...I've not seen that before . The more you look the more you see .
  19. Fantastic choice of interests SC , palz & kubricks being passions of mine. Re: Stanley K. The Shining features in bizarre stuff I collect ,I recently purchased an Adler typewriter nigh on identical to Jack's & nothing would give me more pleasure than to see some Stanley Kubrick ....er...Minimates .....awesome licence IMHO . Imagine having several identical Spartacus Minimates ( much like the existing Star Trek Minimate line) .....all declaring that they are Spartacus ?! It could even be a scene from Toy Story 5 * I am not an avid fan of Dr.Who despite my love of daleks . This in't as odd as it may seem especially when you read up about the daleks' creator Terry Nation . Bearing in mind I am on vacation ,having little to do , I have just checked out ebay listings for 'Docter Who' .....sure enough there are a few there Sadly Dr.Hugh items are thin on the ground although Dr.Wu (Jurassic Park ) is there. These GI Joe 'mates best turn up soon otherwise Hugh knows WTF we'll be talking about? * Check out "Shining references buried in Pixar films"
  20. Bidding on misspelled auction names ? Sounds like a dastardly chap . I've also heard that the same scoundrel picked up on the fact that TRU Marvel Wave 7 brought with it a notable character with a very notable space between the word 'Buster' & 'Hulk' ....big red armoured guy . Hulkbuster would almost always go (on ebay) for more $$ than Hulk Buster .....quite simply because the ebay search engine failed to pick up the nuance . Who knew ? There has (according to Ivan & DST packaging) been just the one Hulk Buster Minimate although several Hulkbusters. -buster hulksmate BTW My recent passion has been tracking down old dalek toys . You'd think that a D-A-L-E-K toy would be easy enough to list on ebay ....not so...there are always dozens of listings on UK ebay for DARLEKS....they often sell cheaply .
