  1. Speaking from the perspective of a person who almost gave up on the show after the first few episodes, I'm glad I stuck it out and let it grow on me. That being said, I feel like Fish Mooney has gotten more obnoxious with each passing episode, and I will be very happy when (or maybe if?) she gets written out of the series. I have no idea how the mates will turn out, so I'll wait until I see them before I make any kind of decision on their worth... But I will say that I sincerely hope DST scores well with sales on this series. just my opinion, but this license seems risky from a profits standpoint. I certainly hope I'm way off base about that
  2. *If* they were going to give us DC TV show mates, I doubt they would start with Gotham - it would just be a bunch of very bland looking civilians from a show that hasn't been around long enough to have real legs. It would more than likely be Arrow or perhaps Flash, since those shows are on fire right now and have many costumed characters that would be very visually appealing.
  3. I'm not a huge gamer, and I don't have any of the current consoles. But every once in a while I unpack my old systems that I grew up with and play through a classic game or two. Just within this past week I've been rotating through Goldeneye and OoT on the N64, and Mega Man 4 on the NES. and I always seem to go back and play through Super Metroid and Metroid Prime at least once every year or two.
  4. This may not have been my first comic ever, but it's the first one I remember buying in a store with my own money. It seemed like such a cool thing to a 6 year old wandering around a grocery store (this was before I even knew that comic shops were a thing), and it stayed cool in my mind until I went back and read it again as an adult and realized that it's nothing like what I remembered As for the first comic series I ever followed: This was my first purchase from a comic shop, and it jump started my life long fondness for Spiderman, as well as my interest in extremely detailed comic art
  5. I'll give my vote to pk13 as well. It wasn't easy to come up with just one person to nominate, but after seeing his generosity and selflessness first hand, I think he definitely deserves it
  6. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Especially Shredder. I am so desperate for TMNT mates based on the old series. This made my day
  7. Thanks for the votes, everyone! I didn't expect to make it to the top 3, there were some great entries!
  8. It's attention to small details like this that make you awesome
  9. How long have these been out? My local K-Mart is already wiped clean, nothing but the empty plastic strip to taunt me.
  10. Here's my entry, done in the style of the 1991 Impel Marvel trading cards.
  11. On that note, Zach, can you tell us if the manhole covers are all the same design, or will they be like the Classics line which has each Turtle's name on their respective bases?
  12. This forum definitely needs a like feature
  13. I've heard/read several theories and ideas on how they could be connected, but nothing official (in fact, I remember reading somewhere recently that one of the show runners insisted that Gotham is a separate universe. but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Circumstances could change easily). The Wayne Industries/Queen Consolidated thing could just be a nod to comic fans and not mean anything relevant. Or it could. Who knows at this point... But my bigger thought is this: Gotham's time period is a point of massive confusion for myself and a couple of my friends. There are little things like certain articles of clothing that fit more with the last couple years, but then there are things like the TV's, computer monitors, desk phones/lamps, and some of the cars that makes us think it's more of a late 80's/early 90's setting. Then there was the mayor's presentation in episode 4 that was done with printouts on easels (I can remember even in the late 90's that big presentations like that were almost always done with projectors)... but then the photo journalists at that press event had DSLRs. There are a thousand little things that seem to contradict themselves, and the conclusion we came to is that the aim seems to be timelessness - trying to give the impression of a setting that was back in the day, but to keep some modern touches so it still feels relevant, if only on a subconscious level (because relevance helps the audience feel more connected to the story. Thinking that you're watching something from before your time can lead to a bit of disconnect and a subsequent lack of interest in the characters, etc). Or we could be completely wrong
  14. Yeah, I'm thinking that would be a pretty cool one-shot issue/mini series
  15. Mine was the same. I was under the impression that it was supposed to be that way, but I'm curious now if anyone has a Wierzbowski with tampos all the way around?
  16. http://www.newsarama.com/22475-uncanny-avengers-gets-2015-relaunch-almost-all-former-villain-lineup.html I was actually coming here to post my thought that wave 61 might be influenced by this new team lineup, but Zex beat me by a couple minutes. Still, the above link has info (including names) of the lineup for the new Uncanny Avengers, and yes that is Sabertooth. My personal vote is yes. I would love this lineup as a full wave - especially Brother Voodoo and that new Quicksilver costume
  17. At the time of its initial release, I was content enough with the original Grey Hulk. But I always thought he looked more like Frankenstein's monster than anything else...
  18. It certainly isn't helping DC's case to see how Marvel is tying their TV properties (AoS, Agent Carter, and the upcoming Netflix shows) to the MCU.I had a fun conversation last night in trying to explain to a friend who is still convinced that Arrow and Flash are tie ins to Man of Steel... and especially at this point, it's hard to argue that the evidence doesn't seem to exclude the possibility of a crossover with those specific properties (no mention of Batman or Superman in the shows, but plenty of references to things they're connected to, like last night's nod to Bludhaven) ... It will be even more confusing when Supergirl debuts (Especially if they decide that that one show is the only one tied to the DC movie universe. not likely, but still, a potential detractor if they went that route). I get that they don't want to look like they're copying Marvel, but this may not be the best alternate course. On a slightly related note, have we heard yet if Gotham is connected to Arrow/Flash?
