  1. What were the games on? How did you come into that? Sounds interesting....
  2. How do you create the backdrops? In photoshop? LOVE these!
  3. I'm in Michigan and have only seen a 4 pack in a store once- it was the Secret Wars set.
  4. Shanester- Looks like your TRU is the exact same 'earthquake' layout as the TRU in Grand Rapids, MI.
  5. Beat me to it- but agree 100%. Each show could interview a couple members if they felt like contributing....
  6. I used to have that Galactus too. Now I just use the Mighty Mugg version- fits the style of minimates pretty good.
  7. I don't think any of the Fantasicars are compatible. I owned the ML one that came with Reed and the connect a set one from the original movie- putting minimates in them made it look like kids on playground equipment. I'd recommend hitting up the paper supply aisle at Target/Meijer/Walmart/etc. for mini storage boxes and then just modding it with stickers or apoxie sculpt for a control panel seat. I plan (hopefully soon) to make a H.E.R.B.I.E. out of apoxie similar to the style of Snarf since DST said they have "no plans" to make him. "No plans" meaning "probably sometime in the future if/when we get the license to the next FF movie". The Marvel Universe HERBIE is just a hair too tall for minimates. Bummer.
  8. I think something along the lines of the recent Venom transformation head would be neat- but with (sculpted) goo dripping from it's mouth and a solid black head underneath for the exposed sections.
  9. What, like this hellpop? Found a Star Trek one too.
  10. I'm a huge fan of the round disc stands, flight stands, leap stands, etc that they've included standard with almost every two pack. It really ramps up the poseability options for display. A change I don't like? Stores like Target that stopped carrying minimates and stores like Media Buy and Suncoast closing down thus making minimates harder to come by if a TRU isn't an option. With so many retailers expanding beyond just what they are known for (like Barnes and Noble selling more than just books- so many vinyl toys, figures, board games even), I'm shocked that minimates aren't everywhere at this point. Would make for great impulse buy items at the local grocery store.
  11. Watch the Don Cheadle youtube version first. NSFW- but hilarious. You'll never look at War Machine/Iron Patriot the same again.
  12. Thinking since so many new members joined recently, I'd give this thread another shot in the arm....but I'd like to try something different. Who would you recommend for the cast from Sliders? I'm thinking Kingpin would make for a great Arturo. Winston Zeddemore for Rembrandt but who for Quinn and Wade?
  13. Thanks! Yeah who would've thought that nail polish would be the perfect paint effect to make her really pop. Thinking of doing the characters from Sliders next.......but starting a new thread soon. As far as your ice cream box display I'd recommend either Luke's new striking dioramas or the crystal clear display cases from hobby lobby to put them in.
  14. For Malice, I used an x-acto to get a smooth cut otherwise you'll have frayed edges- then using tweezers and superglue, I applied them to her helmet. They are small enough that they stay on securely but if tossed around too much it'd get damage so I guess it just depends on whether or not you're going to be doing much with the figure afterwards. Malice just stands in a clear display case on my desk with the rest of the FF baddies.
  15. For the tips on her arms and boots, I'd recommend using toothpick nubs cut with an x-acto. Worked great for my malice custom.
  16. I'd love to get this set as well but only interested in Morbius for my Spider-man cartoon collection of mates. I prefer the previous Strange myself but love the addition of the energy hands/effects. Maybe a simple swamping of parts?
  17. Hellpop. You and I are one in the same. I get more excited about a new wave for CUSTOM potential parts/pieces than I do the actual figures themselves. If it is a figure set I do want to add to my collection, I'll buy multiples just for the extra parts- it's how my minimate collection grew so quickly- not from a collection of teams standpoint, but from random parts floating between plano cases. I have a pile on my desk at work (the only real time I get to do customs is on my lunch hour) of figures 'on the bench'. Least favorite part? While painting (especially multiple coats of WHITE for my AOA angel- it took FIVE coats) is a pain, I find tracking down specific parts (whether it be in a plano case or ebay) to be more frustrating. Especially when the piece I seek was send out in a recent trade (Darn it) or goes for big bucks on ebay- when all I really need is the hairpiece and toss the rest in my loose pile. Favorite part? Putting them together with ACTUAL minimates. Sometimes, if I'm lucky I can't even tell the difference of what was store bought versus my finished custom. Great idea for a thread!
  18. This is the best thing you've made yet Luke. I'm sure you'll sell a ton!
  19. I take pics in stores all the time. Especially in toy stores for board games. I find ones that look cool, then research them on boardgamegeek to see if they are any good. If only you posted this yesterday Zach- I just went to TRU last night. Wave 48 was in three separate aisles!
  20. YES!!!!!! I was just thinking "Y'know he needs some black line definition to really show off the rock texture." You nailed it. Recipe? I assume just black wash correct?
  21. This is probably my favorite Thing version DST has made. The hands are open so I can easily use Avengers Hulk's rob slab pieces to show off his strength. I love the brighter orange as well. Reminds me of the old Marvel Super Heroes Thing action figure I used to have with the twisted lamp post. Speaking of which, DST/Luke I'd love to see a twisted Yancy Street sign as an accessory that could be wrapped around a figure and still manage to fit in Thing's hands.
