  1. Happy birthday Jeff! Hopefully it's the geekiest one you've ever had.
  2. Well, I just recruited Rescue and the first thing Pepper tells your agent seems quite disappointing:
  3. I saw the Fighter Pod stuff recently and I'm still curious as to why Hasbro is marketing this to kids after that failed for Playmates. I don't see many collectors going for the Squinkie type figure and I don't see many kids going for Trek characters. Again, DST knows which market to target with the right product.
  4. When the time comes to list these, I'll get with you if you'd like to discuss details of how I listed these if you'd like touse the same generic Charitymates account I used. I do believe if it's done right I can do matching again this year, but can't say for certain at this point.
  5. Me too and shipping was the same. When he first listed them before (at higher prices) I asked what combined shipping was and it was the same, you just have to ask for an invoice.
  6. I've had some horendous experiences with shipment pacakaging before from Disney, some where the replacements were worse than the first ones that were damaged. They mostly put stuff in an oversized box and throw some of those larger inflated bags in with the product. That works great for clothes and stuffed animals, but packaged items don't work well like that unless the box is mostly full. There have been a few times there's no packing in the box and there's more space in there than product. I've gotten maybe 20 packages from them in the last year and more often than not they're not packed very securely. Have a magical day.
  7. Sadly, after walking through the dealer area for about 20 minutes on Sunday it was evident that large crowds of nerds and a family of six don't work out like you'd hope (especially when your 3 year old daughter starts freaking out at every strange costume she sees). I so wanted to spend some time at the $5 guy's booth, but never got that far.
  8. Wow, I just used Rescue for one of the tasks and she is easily the most pathetic character in the game IMO. I wondered how they would change her to make her relevant to this game since she's pretty much all defensive stuff in the comics, but I found they didn't change her at all. She has one offensive move that does almost no damage and her defensive moves aren't very impressive either. She kinda looks cool, but I forsee her rarely ever being used in PvP and I dread having to level her up.
  9. Just purchased the same amount. I really wonder how much this dealer's ordering influenced overall sales.
  10. For those that have been waiting to pick up these sets, disneystore.com has a promotion that gives you 40% off these sets (promo code 'bonus'). Procrastination pays off!
  11. Let me just say that I got this set a week or two ago and have yet to open it or look at it. I thought maybe having it in hand would make me like it more, but it didn't. Other than the the comic Femme Fatales sets, I can't think of a set I've had less interest in (and since I have them all that says something).
  12. So long as the ships and figures are out not too long after the new movie hits I'm sure they'll do well. And I'm betting no one wants these out sooner than DST, but like all manufacturers I'm guessing they're at the mercy of overseas factories, slow moving boats carrying their product and hold ups at docks and customs. It could be worse, though. Some toy comapanies also have to deal with evil agents that cause delays that last several years...
  13. http://www.artasylum.com/2013/04/diamond-select-toys-acquires-license-for-1960s-batman-tv-series/ So close to new DC Minimates, yet so far. I'm excited to see what will be offered, but am just hopeful that this leads to a great working relationship between them and WB.
  14. By the way, does anyone know who the kid was in the panel that kept asking questions? I really felt that he put us die hard collectors to shame and would love to send him some Minimates if he needs some more.
  15. So if I'm reading between the lines correctly, you're comparing the group at C2E2 to the Great Lakes Avengers, right?
  16. fatcow was the member who announced it here: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=10956&hl=retroactive That's a great idea to have it there if it's open or available. Of course, that just reminded I never got any prize for naming the place...
  17. So, is there a chance that IM3 could get a series 2 if sales do well again? And so I'm on topic, I missed the reveal of this at the panel and haven't read the book yet, but I'm pretty excited about this set and expect it to sell well.
  18. I think I was way more Grumpy than any of you... Agreed, you being one of the people I was most looking forward to meeting and me not being able to even introduce myself. By the way, what did your family think of the con?
  19. Totally know where you're coming from. I tried to make C2E2 a family thing this year and, although my kids loved it, it was highly disappointing for me. My wife and I are discussing what next year will be, but at this point I will have a hard time not at least taking my older sons with me for one day. Even if we make it a weekend trip where I get a day at the con by myself, I really don't see me being able to participate much in events. Not that I see it totally happening like this, but I was told yb about how Funko does their SDCC stuff. For more than the last decade they have a dinner after one of the nights of the con for anyone who attends the con and buys a ticket. It's $60 to get in, but you get a free dinner and a box with three collectibles only available at the dinner (they're always their mascot Freddy as some pop culture character, the last two years have been Pop! figures while before that they were bobble heads). During the dinner, fans interact with each other, there's an award show (collector of the year type stuff) and there are tons of prototypes and custom made stuff just given away. It's an amazing event (that I'll never see), but I thought I'd throw it out there in case it inspires someone's thinking for something along these lines. I don't know if DST would be/could be willing to sponsor anything at all, but I'm just throwing this all out there anyway.
  20. Nicely done kaipo. And for the record, that is me smiling. You should see my face when I'm unhappy...
  21. Digger's update on Agent 88 just went out: Diamond Select Toys has confirmed that all the incentives for the MINIMATES fanbase are coming soon. We will be shipping near the end of August. We cannot express thanks enough for your patience on the MINIMATES. It’s taken way longer than any of us expected to get these out, and we are very excited to finally be shipping them in August. We know it’s a long process, but all of our partners have done their part to make this happen. So, we ask that all our fans show support to the retailers that were gracious enough to order those MINIMATE bundles, and everything else - the shirts, prints, keychains…all of it. It’s taken a long time to get this stuff produced, the amount of cash that has gone towards making all the incentives is considerable and the companies like Diamond that came on to support us are doing it all for nothing. Looks as if August is the new timeline given.
  22. "gooble gobble, gooble gobble, nude Bea Arthur's, gonna bobble' That's all I can come up with. It's from "Freaks". Gooble, Gobble, Gooble, Gobble. One of Us! One of Us! Oh, I know. I just have a one track mind it seems. And it was odd for me to come into the panel late and have to wonder how boyd was lucky enough to get up there with Zach. I thought maybe he won a drawing or somethng and got to click through the slides for Zach.
  23. "gooble gobble, gooble gobble, nude Bea Arthur's, gonna bobble' That's all I can come up with.
  24. I think the last hint has to be thought of in the context it's in (and I don't mean crapping on Mickey Rourke's shoulder).
