  1. While most of the blank or logo minimates that have been produced as promos didn't see a wider release, heaps of character promos that DST have done, while not available in exactly the same paint deco, became available with the lines they were advertising. We got a Goblin in the Pathfinder series. There were purchasable versions of Vorin & Merc from Battle Beasts. Technically, even BB Gator became available to buy with the carry case. If this does become a line, I'm optimistic that we'll see slightly different versions of these characters show up in the line. Perhaps a metallic paint variant of Civil Warrior or a slightly darker red version of Guillotine.
  2. He does! He's talking about Chris Bachalo's Edward Scissorhands knock-off. (She's one of those 'never gonna happen' characters I like to keep in my list)
  3. For context, the mark-up in Australian stores is ENOURMOUS. I went in to browse their Marvel Legends figures the other day. The Dark Phoenix/Cyclops 2-pack is $80.00. Despite the difference in the value of the US$ and the AU$. That is a BIG chunk out of a persons weekly wages. Prices at Australian TRU stores are generally like this. On top of that, Australian stores don't do mark-downs the way the US seems to. When a toy has been opened and had parts removed, or is replaced with a newer line, TRU will discount the product by 20%... maybe up to 35% at the most. There are no 1/2 price sales to help clear out all stock. That stuff tends to just sit on shelves for months. Sometimes years. While I love having a store here dedicated to selling toys, I'm a bit surprised that TRU are still going strong. Perhaps we're just a very different toy buying market to the US.
  4. Animated Medusa counts enough for me to cross her off my list, and so: Lilandra Stryfe Exodus Sebastian Shaw Wasp Penance Strong Guy Deathbird Medusa Mockingbird - I'll happily take modern or classic. Random
  5. You all know by now that I'm mostly in this for the comic-based versions of minimates. I don't play, but I've been keeping an eye on it with a view to maybe starting playing one day. The character list for the game is pretty awesome. I'd be very happy if we saw some 'mates from the game. At a glance, a line of MCoC mini's could include: Bondage Magik Mass Effect Gamora Revolutionary Cyclops (X-face) Abomination Modern Drax White Bondage Magneto The Collector Brother Voodoo Pretty sure there's some Inhumans in there too. This could be a nice way to fill out the 616, assuming a line goes ahead.
  6. Very well done, all. I'm really impressed with everything on display. Bravo, everyone.
  7. And restrict the appearance of any X-Men of Fantastic 4 merchandise, then forbid the appearance of characters from those franchises in any general Marvel products/games/books sold via TRU. Got it.
  8. So - X-23 for All New X, then MockingBird (To go with Silver Centurion, Tigra, WonderMan & Hawkeye)? Warpath and Sunspot to finish off X-Force? Melter & Whirlwind to finish off one of the Masters of Evil line-ups? Misty Knight & Colleen Wing to give us the bulk or a Heroes for Hire line-up?
  9. But none of the women in X-Force are black. @Mattallica I take your point about 'hand-me-down' roles. Unfortunately, what you're talking about takes years of cultivating. We love Domino because she's been kicking @ss for 20 years. We've followed her adventures for decades. A new person couldn't deliver an appropriate character that has Domino's ties to Deadpool and is black for this particular film. I'll admit - it's a short-cut and it would be optimal to have a fully developed black/asian/latina character ready to go, but we don't And speaking from personal experience with regards to 'hand-me-downs', I lost my sh*t when Shatterstar & Rictor came out. In a good way. They had been two of my favourite characters as a kid. Growing up queer, there were very few gay characters that I could look up to. These guys were tough, brutal, cool, young x-people. They're whole story hadn't revolved around the pain and anguish of 'coming out' as most of the few 'gay' stories we got did in the 80's and 90's. They were adventuring, kicking butt and taking names. I was an adult when they came out. I was maybe 30, and it still meant heaps to me. Imagine what something like that would mean to a 15yo who was just discovering who they were as a young person.
  10. Women, queer people and people of colour have, historically, not had a lot of good representation in mainstream media. There's no getting around that. Turning traditionally white/male characters into non-white/non-male characters corrects an imbalance in our media/entertainment. Doing the reverse (casting a white actor in an asian/black/etc... role) does not. If you have an issue with a character being assigned another race or gender, ask yourself why you're having a problem with it. Can the character still do all the things they did before as this new race/gender? Because that's often the point of those recasts - being white doesn't mean you're better at aiming a gun and wearing leather. I can understand people feeling a little bit like they are losing something, because having a white/male icon that you particularly like and look up to 'taken away' feels unjust. But there are a lot of them out there, and now - some little black/female/trans/islamic kid is getting someone to look up to. In some cases, for the first time.
  11. FWOAAAAAR - I'd be all over that wave. Especially the bolded names.
  12. One of my favourite Instas! I *need* that Polaris to get a real release.

    wave 74

Hey - I'll take a Vengeance / Blackheart 2-pack if it tickles your fancy a bit sweeter.
  14. Yeah - I ended up caving and buying the whole set for about $28. So I got Blob, but I also got the Hydra sub, which i might see if i can sell for a couple of dollars on eBay. In other news - the X-Men just keep coming in bootlego. We've recently gotten a new Dark Phoenix, Cannonball, Mr Sinister, & Havok, with Omega Red, Sunfire, Domino & Dr Nemesis on the way.

For my money - the GR in the Champions box set is my go-to classic look. But I'd happily buy another variant of him if it got us a Blackheart or even a Nightmare.
  16. Damn - that's a bit muted and underwhelming. I was hoping we'd see more gold highlights on it, like we did at the end of Ant Man. I get that from a tactical point of view, an all-dark costume makes more sense for infiltration and stealth..... but these are movies about people who shrink down to the size of bugs and save the world from evil robots/inter-stellar megalomaniacs/Norse gods. We have already suspended disbelief. Let the colours happen.
  17. Damn , @emperorshotz - that is just....
  18. I might be in the minority here, but I wouldn't be mad about a Darla Deering Thing. Truth be told, now that Animated Medusa has happened, we could do an almost entirely parts re-use FF wave. Only Ant-Man would require new tooling for his helmet, But Darla, Medusa & She-Hulk could all be made quite well without any new parts. Alas - I think their moment may have passed.
  19. These things - they were awesome!
  20. Oh, yes please! I used to love seeing the control art, with the little section of sculpted extras, and the colour samples with the names of the colours.
  21. I would 100% be here for this. A BTA Freeze minimate would make my heart sing.
  22. Sorry. My fault. Well - 'Facebook Memories' fault, actually.
  23. @The Scarlet Spider - apologies if i came off as scolding you. I probably came across stronger than I needed to. I grew up as a bit of a social minority, despite being white and male. Members of my family are chinese, and sometimes I get a bit worked up about asian representation in media. I don't think anyone would 'look up' to the Joker as a beauty standard. I think there would be room for an asian person to play a character like the Joker or Morbius where something happened to to cause their skin to turn pale (chemical accident or death). I think there are subtleties that warrant consideration in other instances though. Comics are a very visual medium. For a long time, the way a character looked was sometimes the most important thing about them. Storytelling hasn't always been every comic's strong point and I can understand for a lot of people how a character is defined by their costume or appearance. However, I think if the most notable thing about a character is the way they look, then they're probably not a great (see: well developed) character. For me, Domino is tough as nails; someone who is dependable and fiercely loyal; someone who's a capable leader; but also someone who talks back someone who's not afraid to have a little joke at the expense of someone who outranks her. While I think her comic book look is super cool, I don't think it ever had a huge impact on her character or how she interacted with others.
