  1. So we're not getting the helmet on either one, or that's the hairpiece on one?
  2. I think Funko is actually Hydra.
  3. Yeah, I had a tough time choosing between those two; I ended up splitting the difference and going Pathfinder for best license and Mass Effect for best wave. A lot of the innovations in sculpted limbs and full-body caps are fun, but for me, those two licenses really focused well on what makes Minimates Minimates, rather than what they have been gradually evolving into.
  4. I believe that is everyone for the 2014 cycle. If you haven't received your Birthday Elephant gift, please let me know and we'll figure something out. Otherwise, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated this year!
  5. Mine are similar; the thing that's always made Minimates special to me is the combination of that simple block figure aesthetic and judicious use of accessories that augment rather than overshadow. Beautifully-executed tampos, well-sculpted accessories that didn't bulk up the base figure, and just all-around fun playability made Pathfinder's Marisiel my pick for Minimate of the Year this time.
  6. "Thanks for coming in for the interview, we're happy to offer you the butler position, Jarvis!" "My name is Ronald, sir." "Sure, sure, Jarvis, that's great, welcome aboard!" "Um, no, it's Ronald, sir." "I SAID JARVIS YOUR NAME IS JARVIS NOW"
  7. I guess I will have to try in 2016 for the 10 year anniversary of the Multiverse. Can we plan on that? I think I'm going to have to bow out for this year, as well.
  8. I think Captain America should be elected, every four years.
  9. Hey hey hey, can we get back to sticking Minimates up people's asses?
  10. There was a lot of interest in the Birthday Elephant exchange this year. I'm doing my best to get everyone paired off and information sent out this week. For those who have recipients in February and March, I'll be sending yours first; keep an eye out in the next day or so. If you signed up and haven't gotten an email by the end of the week, please let me know. Thanks for your patience! ---- EDIT let's make that end of next week. I've sent out all of the Elephants with birthday recipients through June, so there shouldn't be any immediate issues with timing. Thanks for your continuing patience... ---- EDIT Okay, all of the Elephants have been assigned and had instructions emailed out. If you signed up and haven't yet received and email, please let me know. The first recipient is less than a month away, so let the Elephanting begin!
  11. I like how organized you are. I'm envisioning some kind of infographic.
  12. MYTE wins the internet for today. Possibly tomorrow, as well.
  13. Guys, Paizo is a gaming company. Actually, they are a bunch of gamers who ran a niche magazine and didn't like the direction D&D was going with 5th edition, so they decided to home-brew their own system, which became very popular, which they then decided to take to market. Was it premature for them to try to produce and sell toys if they had limited experience in retail fulfillment? Maybe. Am I grateful that they tried, and it resulted in Minimates? Personally, yes. I feel like this is taking on the same "this company is terrible and hates the fans and is willfully trying to deceive and screw over collectors" tone we get about DST when they make unpopular decisions. I would venture a guess that, once again, hardcore Minimates collectors were not the primary audience in consideration when Pathfinder Minimates were initiated, when distribution channels were selected, or when marketing decisions were made.
  14. Man, this is a drag. I'm very sorry to see what in my opinion is a solid candidate for line of the year so badly tainted by logistics mishandling. These are really great Minimates, and it's a shame so many people are being soured on them in general by this bad experience.
  15. Cutoff is midnight pacific standard time, or thereabouts. Basically anything I haven't gotten before I go to bed tonight. If you sent your info through PM, please resend to the email address indicated in the instructions.
  16. New thread is up with the rules, etc. If you've posted here that you're interested, please head over there and send your information to me as indicated before Monday the 12th. I'll do my best to check this thread and make sure nobody got missed, but I have a kid now, so I have about 15 minutes a week to read the board… Thanks all!
  17. Welcome back to the annual MMMV Birthday Elephant gift exchange, which you possibly never left. 2014 expanded to dozens of members in more than two countries! A big thanks to all of last year's participants for making it a success. I will be posting positive feedback for all of the board members who took part in last year's exchange. A lot of people have already expressed interest in this year over in the other thread, so we'll get on with the show. The Rules: Participants in the MMMV Birthday Elephant gift exchange will be assigned a "birthday elephant," another board member who remembers your birthday and sends you something special. 1) The most important rule: Elephants. Do. Not. Forget. This will be a little trickier than Secret Santa, as you may not be in gift-buying mode when your recipient's birthday rolls around. Nonetheless, you will be expected to remember his or her birthday and send your gift within an appropriate mailing timeframe (2-3 weeks for US members, 3-4 weeks for international members). I'll send you a reminder email one month before your recipient's birthday, but if you're planning a time-intensive gift like a custom, you'll need to schedule your time accordingly. 2) There is no minimum trading feedback needed to participate. However, if you have been on the board for less than six months you need to contact me prior to signing up so you can be approved. 3) There will be two groups you can participate in: those who only want to ship within the United States and those who are willing to ship outside of the United States. See below for specific shipping dates. Signing Up If you want to sign up, please email minimatebirthdays@yahoo.com with the following info (with Birthday Elephant Info and your MMMV board name as the subject). For ease of recordkeeping, please don't send your information via PM. Minimate Multiverse board name Your birthday E-mail address Name and address for packages to be shipped to Special shipping instructions (if any): Are you willing to be a backup Elephant? Do you want to only ship within the United States or are you willing to ship internationally. Anyone you DON'T want to be assigned to for whatever reason. Items you're interested in receiving or absolutely do not want. This should be a general list of reasonable items. Because this will be going on all year, new items may crop up on your wish list; if you'd like to send an updated list, please do so at least one month before your actual birthday. Any additional info your Birthday Elephant should know. This info must be submitted no later than Monday, January 12, to participate. Once I have everyone's information, Ill send out emails to each participant by Friday, January 16th. Youll be responsible for the name you receive (no trading allowed). People will be paired up randomly from within the pools of "US shipping" and "International shipping" participants. Sending and Receiving Your Gift As mentioned above, you'll need to remember when your recipient's birthday is and send his or her gift with an appropriate amount of shipping time: International packages should be sent with a three- to four-week lead time (e.g.: if your recipient's birthday is Monday May 12, you should send no later than Monday, April 21). US packages should be sent be sent with a two- to three-week lead time (e.g.: if your recipient's birthday is Monday May 12, you should send no later than Monday, April 28). The sooner you can send the better; nobody hates getting an early birthday present, but a late one is kind of lame. In order to give people with January birthdays a fair shot, the official gifting period will run from February 16, 2015 through February 16, 2016. So, if you want to participate, but your birthday is, say, tomorrow, don't worry, you'll still get a gift (it'll just be a bit of a wait...) When you receive your gift, please post in this thread with pictures, guesses of who sent it, and thanks to your Elephant. By posting here, itll be easier to keep track of who has received their packages. And for those who cant guess their Elephant correctly, I will reveal all in one year, in February 2016. The minimum amount to spend is $10 (US). There is a minimum, but no maximum. If you want to shower someone with gifts, thats awesome, but just make sure youre prepared to possibly receive a gift from someone who can only afford $10. And however much you spend, please be considerate and not send anything that could be deemed offensive. Worst case scenario If you can't send your recipient a gift, please, please, please contact me as soon as possible. By signing up, you are expected to send something. If you feel you can't live up to your end of the bargain, please don't sign up. This event is running over the course of a year, and I know circumstances can change a lot in that time; if something happens after you've signed up and you are unable to fulfill your duties as a Birthday Elephant, please contact me as soon as you know that you won't be able to send a gift so that an alternate Elephant can make sure your recipient gets a gift. Again: please, please, please contact me as soon as you can if something goes off the rails and you can't send a gift. I plan to make sure every participant gets a gift one way or another so please try to be respectful of everyone else. For anyone that is unable to (or chooses not to) send something and doesn't work it out beforehand, you'll be banned from future Birthday Elephants and you'll receive appropriate feedback in the Feedback Forum. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here or PM me if you need to. Thanks in advance to everyone interested in bringing birthday surprises to their fellow 'Versers and making this the coolest forum on the internets!
  18. The first rule of the magic bin is YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT THE MAGIC BIN
  19. Isn't that what you said this time last year?
  20. Do we need a new poll? "What board member needs to commit to C2E2 before you'll go?"
  21. So the next big Marvel event after Infinity was Original Sin. If DST did a four-pack, or if there were a TRU fan poll with six potential slots, who would go in it? The heavy hitters – Cap, Thor, IM, Wolverine, Spidey – played pretty minor parts in this story, and none of them had particularly unique or special looks like Space Armor Cap and Hulk. So any of them would just be like "Cap's in it because SHUT THE HELL UP IS WHY." There's potential for lots of interesting b-list characters from the series. Orb – C'mon, they already have the round head from Mysterio. This could be the z-list, never-thought-it-woud-happen guy to make fans happy. Black Panther – In need of an update, has a movie coming out. I'd kind of like to see a BP with a non-slipover mask with sculpted cat ears. Doctor Strange – Also could use a new costume update, also has a movie coming out. Ant Man – Has a movie coming out, but this series has his FF costume rather than his newer one that looks more like the movie. I don't know if that would make a difference. Bucky – I don't know if he still has a place in the cinematic universe as a tie-in. His OS look isn't really much different than the one we got in wave 54. I guess you could put the space armor harness on him? Uatu – would be amaze-balls. Maybe a waist riser under his tunic, and a 3" oversized head.
  22. Given that the deal with all of the Tarantino films has been through Miramax, I'd guess Dusk Til Dawn or Reservoir Dogs are likely choices. Advantage RD, because simple tampos, no new parts, and Zach said the set would possibly have more than four in it.
  23. I actually saw some LCS wave 5 Walking Dead two-packs in a "collectors toy" section at a Target over the holidays. I don't know if it was a fluke or what.
