I went out last week & bought a bunch. Shakespeare was the first I found -- just feel for the lil circular neck ruffle. Is what I did. (Got basically all the ones I really wanted that way.) Now the ones I want are Benny (1980s-something astronaut), Michelangelo & David. (I hopehopehope Lego makes the last two -- super uncool to show them in every single tv spot if they're not going to be made.)

They're not necessarily bootlegs -- just Chinese factory rejects (or ones that have been taken from the factory). A lot of times the hairpieces/accessories/whatever get jumbled up. Most 'mates are made in China. The ones that end up on eBay come from factory workers (or friends/family of factory workers), which is why they are typically priced the way they are. There are however, ACTUAL BOOTLEGS on eBay -- a few people have misappropriated Luke's or whomever's decals (which are not for sale), made customs, then sold said customs on eBay. For a profit on someone else's hard work. These are the bootlegs & should not be purchased. The 'Chinese Factory Liberated' ones are harmless-yet-often-silly minimates.

I know this has been said somewhere before (prolly), but I have found my favorite minimate ever. I got her in my stocking from Santa & I love her. I know that not many people really liked IM3, but I did. I loved how Tony said she was perfect just as she was. I loved how it was Pepper that saved Tony/the day/everything in the end. (Even if on the movie posters she was the clingy damsel.) I know this is the comic PP as Rescue, but still. The freckles, the new hair, the determination. Everything is love for me.

I "collect" them because they are on the small end of action figures & they are easy to store (I basically shove them in boxes/bins when I'm not using them). I started for 2 reasons (tho I am a grown child & have collected toys forever): 1. I have been a photography dork for years, but I greatly dislike people (see comment about toys). Toys will stand still forever without the whining & complaining -- no matter how many retakes I shoot. 2. As a girl, minimates offer the most widespread female characters (besides dolls). Growing up, if I wanted to play, it had to be as a girl character. (As such, WW is my all-time, absolute favorite -- she'll kick all y'all's asses. ) It was a fondness of Palz figures that led me to minimates. I buy what I like, or what I think I can use for photos (to mainly amuse myself). I've said it before, but I do miss my Bro (A LOT). What helps is that there are still so many people on this forum that I appreciate soooo very much.

OK, you started it with the sappy crap. Don't say I didn't warn you. J, I am extremely happy that you got such an amazing gift! That's one helluva terrific Christmas wish! Now for the sappy junk.... It is things like this (& quite possibly the holidays approaching) that makes me miss my Bro around the boards. Sure, we exchange emails now & again, but it's not the same. But you're right, this forum is every synonym of awesome (& then some). Merry Christmas/Happy Kwanzaa/Happy Chanukah to you all!! Now excuse me while I go cry like the girl I am. (I'm only partially kidding.)
