  1. I don't count Marvel Vs Capcom as "huge". I'm actually disappointed - it's not a new license, it's more of an extension of existing licenses. Are we getting all new characters? NO. We're getting Marvel characters re-hashed or re-released. Hopefully we'll get Modok and I'm happy for Dormammu, but it feels more like future Marvel waves with video game figures thrown in. I will be buying these, but I was really hoping for something different.
  2. Basically, with time all plastics tend to break down, and as they do they give off gases. This is why there are holes in the shipping bags. For this reason, I use a hole-punch in my zip-lock bags to keep the vapors from being trapped in the bags and contributing to further breakdown. I'm not sure how much air flow the tackle-boxes have. I've had stuff in storage for years now, and I hope to eventually dig out some stuff to check on it. Hopefully nothing a little bit of paint can't fix. For a lot of my Toy Biz LOTR & my DST Trek TOS figures, I bet a lot of that rubbery plastic will disintegrate over time.
  3. If I wanted to wade through 100's of pages of guesses, wishlists and off-topic posts, I'd be on The Fwoosh
  4. You know that's not really the Fantastic Four, right? It's their tribute band. Starring Drag Queen, Reach-Around, General Warts and the Filipino Steve Perry as SpiderMan!
  5. It's crazy that The Godfather wasn't made. I know I pre-ordered mine when it was first announced.
  6. 12hours and 2minutes from the original post and it's "old news"?? I found it helpful. Thanks, Aapje.
  7. What are the chances we'll get MORE than one of the licenses listed?? I really think we'll get Cowboys & Aliens, but I wouldn't call that HUGE because people haven't been asking for it. There are a few on the poll I think is "huge", and a lot of others that are niche-market. I guess for it to be huge, I'd expect several waves. Goonies, while wanted by many, wouldn't classify as huge for me - little to no character variations, only one movie, mostly people (one monster-Sloth & one pirate? not as much variation as GB) Will it be huge in regards to how many people have been asking for it (DC, Disney, Star Wars, Indiana Jones)? Or huge in the depth they would get out of the line? (TMNT, Thundercats, etc) GB would possibly not have been thought of as huge before it hit. Most people would have thought of the main characters and a few waves of ghosts & supporting characters. Then we got all of the variants we did and now we're getting the cartoon versions too. Now, I can't picture a minimates line *without* Ghostbusters, it makes too much sense. Regardless, I hope "huge" means a line we've been asking for consistently, because you know they'll produce a lot of mates. If it's Thundercats, I won't be as impressed. My hope is for DC, but also Disney. This year there's a new Muppet movie, and I would love to get some Muppet minimates!! (I was an extra for a day in the scenes at the Mann's Chinese theater courtyard!) But with all of the great guesses posted, it would be sad to only get ONE.
  8. HFS!!! That is so incredible!! I wish I had that kind of sculpting talent.
  9. I finally got my holy grail back in November - an in-person autograph from Harrison Ford! My toy grail right now is Unification Spock at a reasonable price.
  10. DC C3 Minimate sets ran from 2003 to 2005. DC Lego ran from 2006 to 2008. They did not make construction sets at the same time. DC minimates 2-packs ran from 2007 to 2008, on a work-for-hire basis for DST under the umbrella of DC Direct. DST wants the DC *license*, NOT to make them as work-for-hire for DC Direct.
  11. Would *you*, if it were your company, invest tons of money into developing and manufacturing a product if you had to pay a licensing fee to a company, only to risk having said company sell the right to make a very similar product to your competitor? Licensing rights can be *very* convoluted. Even when Mattel first started making the 6-inch Batman/ Superman figures, they didn't get the rights to the whole DC universe until later. Companies have and still do throw fits when a competitor encroaches upon their territory. Take everything Star Wars related for example, they license everything out very, very sharply defined (toys by size, hence DST's 18-inch line), and Lego has the corner on the market for the 2" scale. And Marvel, for example has been not allowed to do minimates over 2 inches or vehicles for the longest time - something which sounds like it's changed if we're getting a goblin glider. And for Kubricks, they are not allowed to market/sell them in the US. They are sold here as Imports. Again, look at Star Wars for example. As for your point about DC/D not caring about who they lend their licensing rights out to, DST has expressed many times that they want the license but DC has been the problem party in this situation. So yeah, they seem to care. And no, I don't think it will ever be time to "accept" the death of DC minimates, because DST still pursues the issue, and I support them wholeheartedly. But basically, my whole point all along is that when I see the 2-inch DC block-style license is taken, I don't expect to see another company making them too. Mattel can't make 3 3/4 inch Star Wars figures, Hasbro can't make 6-inch DC figures, etc. DC Direct is a different beast being sold in specialty stores, NOT mass market. What little they get into TRU is highly regulated by licensing agreements.
  12. wow, way to live up to your name butthead. I won't be buying the main line. But, after they announce the Batmobile, I want to see one to see it it's compatible with my minimates. Same as people buying the AMT Star Trek bridge model for their Trek minimates. Don't know why you feel the need to be such a tool about that. Heck, if they made a Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Mez-it vehicle, I'd buy it for my GB mates. I don't know why it's such a difficult concept for you. And you are very, very wrong in your opinion. DC Mez-its is a LICENSE for Mezco, whereas the original DC minimates were a work-for-hire for DST. A lot of licenses are exclusive, which is why we *can't* have Lego Star Wars and Minimates Star Wars at the same time - for legal, contractual reasons. This is potentially the same thing. As I originally posted about the Trio line - they are 2" block figures, and Mez-Its seem to be vinyl style 2". If DST got the license to do 2" minimates, Mattel would potentially cry foul over a competing 2" block figure line. Same with Mezco and it's 2-inch vinyl figure line. Don't feel the need to "indulge me" butthead, I don't really care for your misguided opinions or high-and-mighty attitude.
  13. I, for one, REFUSE to buy most of these. Having said that, I *might* buy the batmobile JUST to put my DC Minimates in! But, these things are going to be more profitable for Mez-co. Only one new-sculpted head (Batman), everything else is one basic buck re-painted ad-nauseum. Now that Georg is gone, hopefully we can get DC mates back. But even better would see them allowing mold re-use between lines to keep them more profitable for DST, hence leading to more continued DC minimates.
  14. Wow! Where most sites would simply post a list of the winners, you went all out and made a mini-comic! Extremely well done! - Even gave me a better appreciation of the Trenchcoat Thing mini!
  15. It's not a matter of "again", it's a matter of *when*, and this will surely push it farther back That, and I strongly believe that DC doesn't want to compete with the Marvel minimates. Whatever DC's belief's may be on the matter, maybe they feel DC fans turned on by DC mates will discover and get hooked on the Marvel ones too. (remember that new fans do come onboard periodically)
  16. Ok, so NOW they're putting out 2-inch Mez-Its! *sigh* DC, WTF is wrong with you??? Have we EVER gotten Mez-It's AND minimates of the same property at the same time? I guess that means no new DC minimates this year. I refuse to buy Mez-its. I guess they are trying to cut costs in the sculpting department too with their fully painted designs.
  17. I believe it's Cowboys Vs Aliens. It's a new license, it's being marketed as HUGE, and the director, Jon Favreau was a fan of his Happy Hogan minimate! (he told me he thought it was "cool") I hope it's something different, but I'll buy them regardless. At least I know what I'll customize with Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig minimates!
  18. Plus the movie sequel coming out next year. I think now more than ever is the best time to make them. At least now casual buyers know what Kick-Ass is; due to the movie. Kick Ass 2 the movie has not yet been green-lit. I'd love to see it come out next year but so far all it is is talk right now. BTW, I attended the premiere last year with the cast, had a great time!
  19. Did they ever make a Clara minimate? I don't seem to remember one and my BTTF mates are still in storage If not, I hope they do more 4-packs and make her and some more new characters!
  20. You've completely missed the point here! This whole wave is based on "Shadowland", which has this version of spiderman show up in it. It would be like complaining about a black suit Spiderman in a Secret Wars wave just because you didn't know about it, but it makes perfect sense here! So, DST makes a themed wave with the relevent characters around a *comic* story and tries to sell it in a *comic* book store and you complain just because you don't understand?? I'm personally not thrilled about it but at least they are being topical to what's currently on shelves in stores AND it's not another red/blue Spidey! This wave makes perfect sense from a business standpoint.
  21. Maybe it's the return of the Kelloggs minimates! I didn't mention DC because I didn't want to get my own hopes up. I want DC minimates to continue soooo badly! And I was the one that asked the Disney mates question in the last ask DST, and they seemed to sidestep it a bit! I would buy them all! Maybe they would be better with sculpted heads? But maybe they would stick to the standard mate head so they could make more profit? So, if it were Disney, do you think we'd get Pirates of the Carribean mates the same year as Calico Jack??
  22. It's the Smurfs, based on the upcoming live-action movie! Ok, but seriously, what do you guys think it is? From DST's 116th Q&A, we'll see a huge minimate related surprise. What could it be? The long planned Dr Who line? A return of Street Fighter? What would constitute a "huge surprise"? You couldn't get a bigger surprise than Star Wars, especially with the Blu-Ray release coming this year. As much as I would kill for SW, I don't want to get my hopes up. But, you know DST keeps asking for the license for SW & Indiana Jones, so hopefully some day! What else is left that could be a huge surprise?? Maybe Aliens & Predator? Could work similar to GB's release formula GI Joe? That would be cool. LOTR reboot? Start now then segue into The Hobbit near movie release time? Do you think it will be a line we've asked for, or a "didn't expect that" line?
  23. Perfect example of how Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe has failed us, and DST delivers!!! DST's Minimates - Completing more teams than any of the other guys!
  24. OMG WAAAAANNNNTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm actually more excited for RGB than I was for movie GB! And I was never a big fan of the cartoon! Cartoons seem to lend themselves better to minimates, and I hope that the sales of RBG encourages DST to do more 80's cartoon properties in the future (BTTF did have a cartoon ya know!) But I'm most excited to get more ghosts in this line I hope we see several waves of RBG, and I'll be buying every character for sure! And as for Mattel, they may complain about their 6-inch figure sales, but $30 shipped? FORGET IT! I bought the first 4 GB and I'm done! $120 for 4 ghostbusters! What do they really expect from us? To buy every thing they put out at those prices? Here's to DST!! I'm a minimates fan for life! Can't wait for toyfair!
  25. This movie was made with the express intent of retaining the X-Men film rights. Same as Spiderman and Ghost Rider. You'll also see Daredevil and Fantastic Four again before too long as well. The film studios lease the rights from Marvel, but they lose the rights at a certain date IF they don't have any projects in production. They already allowed the rights to Hulk revert to Marvel after the poor box office of Ang Lee's Hulk, which I'm sure they regret now (especially if they get a cut of the merchandise! Hulk Hands were a phenominal seller!) As far as Spiderman goes, I think they chose to reboot because the studio wanted to go another direction from what Raimi wanted, which, compounded with the fact that Raimi & Tobey were expensive, Sony felt easier going in a new direction. Of course if SM3 had been a major hit with fans, then they would have allowed Raimi to do what he wanted. But, sadly, this new X-Men movie looks like they just chose to throw something up on the screen because they had to put something (anything) out. I will, of course, be buying the minimates! (the 3 3/4 inch figures, maybe not)
