  1. Alright fine, even though they're note Marvel: Terminator 2 Wave 1: -Battle Damage T-800/T-1000* -T-800 (sunglass and eye damage)/Endoskeleton EM-Assault Gear T-800/SWAT Officer *Battle Damage T-800 maybe be a variant, it remains to be seen if the Specialty packs will also have the 'melting' legs. Actually I'm not entirely sure what T2 Wave 1 and Wave 2's Speciality Store case packs are, so for all I know these are all exclusive pairings except for the one with the big "TRU Exclusive" sticker. Ghostbusters: EG: Exclusive Ghost, Ghostbuster is found in another set EGB: Exclusive Ghostbuster, Ghost found in other set EP: Both Figures Found in 4 packs but broken into 2 pack release EM: Both Mates are so far TRU only Wave 1: EG- GB1 Egon/Library Ghost EM- Courtroom Peter/Washington Square Ghost EM- Slimed Peter/Clear Slimer EGB- Terrordog/GB2 Winston EM- Angry Red Exploding Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man/Gooey Ray Wave 2: EM-Lab Coat Egon (Labegon as TRU.com says)/Jogger Ghost EG-Taxi Ghost/GB1 Winston EM- Ghostbuster Louis/Solid Color Slimer EG- Energized (Clear) TerrorDog/GB1 Peter EG- Happy Stay Puft Marshmallow Man/GB1 Ray
  2. In that case, let's break it down like this: EP: Exclusive Pairing (mates themselves are available elsewhere but not together) EM: Exclusive Minimates (only, so far, found in this pack at TRU) Wave1 -Classic Spidey/Shocker -Cosmic Spidey/Transformation Venom -BiB Spidey/Kraven EP- Movie Hulk/Movie Abomination EM- Stealth Mark 3/Gauntlet Tony Stark Wave 2: EP- Spidey/Green Goblin EP- Hulk/Dr.Doom EP- Wolverine/Magneto EP- Warzone Punisher/Jigsaw EM- Wonder Man/Union Jack Wolverine Origins Wave: -Logan/Blob -Special Ops Logan/Deadpool -Stupid Vest Logan/Sabertooth EM-Tank top Logan/Silver Fox EM-Lumberjack Logan/Agent Zero Wave 3 (upcoming): EP- Wolverine/Sabretooth EP- Classic Iron Man/Tony Stark War Machine EP- Bucky Cap/ AIM Agent EP- Web Armor Spidey/Gargan Venom EM- updated Bullseye/Moonstone
  3. When I was young I was scared s**tless of ghost (I got over it) yet I loved Ghostbuster... I had so many Ghostbusters 2 based nightmares it's not even funny (and yet I caught it again on TV a few months ago, saw the subway heads that used to make me hide in terror and thought "THOSE WERE SCARY?!"), so the fact Slimer was none of those things made him much cooler to me. Not saying we don't need the rotty, creepy ghost minimates, just that Slimer being those things is not the Slimer I enjoyed as a child.
  4. Here's what we know: -On February 23 we saw package pictures of the Heroes/Villains Sets on AA's Blog, about a month later in March we started seeing them in stores. On February 25 they showed the Wolverine sets but those did not hit stores until April. -We saw packaged pictures of the T2 wave on May 5th, they hit just last week. We saw Marvel Wave 3 on May 8th and Ghostbuster Wave 1 on May 20th. -The Hero/Villain waves hit a month before the Hero and Villain box sets, the Wolverine wave hit about a month before the Comic book store versions. T2 TRU wave 1 hit a week before T2 singles hit comicshops. What We Don't Know: -Every non exclusive except Wolverine, Venom, and Sabertooth have been released. Venom will be released on July 23 and as of now Wolverine and Sabertooth will be released on August 22... since all other sets have been released about one month before their comicshop release, will Wolverine and Sabertooth delay the release until July? (T2 and GB1 where shown around the same time and TRU.com list them as "July") or like like T2 are these ready to go and will hit anyday now? -Most TRU's have lingering Wolverine mates (I see about 2 boxes at both TRU's when I go) If all Marvel Minimates are in the system as the same items this could delay the shipping of Wave 3 since their system doesn't know Wave 3 is full of new better character, it just sees it as "more of this product that isn't selling" HOWEVER if since Wolverine wave wasn't "wave 3" it's possible Waves 1, 2, and 3 are the same product and Wolverine is something else like T2 and GB, and since those same TRU's are awfully low on Hero/Villain sets we could see Wave 3 before Wolverine is gone. .... so I guess what I'm saying is. I have no clue when that waves coming out and looking at what clues we have just makes it more confusing. I'm just gonna wait until someone else says "FOUND 'EM!" then wait until two days after pictures go up to hit up TRU... it's worked like a charm so far.
  5. I agree... He kinda reminds me of the animated Slimer (he wasn't see through in cartoon, his expression is a little less creepy, and you don't have to stare at what he's eating) I really liked animated Slimer as a kid (I know I'm weird... I also didn't mind Snarf or Orco) so having a mate that vaguely represents him over his kinda too creepy movie counterpart is a major plus for me... specially if he comes with a twirled blonde pompadour for Egon.
  6. Simple to fix! Just give the T-800 coat to Red Skull and: Bloodaxe! http://www.marvel.com/universe/Bloodaxe Problem solved!... of course now you're stuck with Bloodaxe and have no Red Skull.... hmmm, two steps forward, one step back and into a giant hole there I guess.
  7. You know, if he actually carried that around he wouldn't have had trouble getting a balanced state budget bill past... (also is jealous your Red Skull's tie was well painted... I swear mine was painted by a blind monkey)
  8. Movie Minimate Mark 2 Iron Man bares a VERY strong resemblance to Batman And Robin Mr.Freeze... I couldn't figure out a way to color his face blue though.
  9. I found these at my local TRU today... I'm thinking I need to switch SWAT 2 Pack Arnold's jacket with the spare suit piece that comes with Red Skull. Then I can have the Governor of my state as a minimate to remind myself about the time I voted Mr.Freeze as a joke and how stupid I was to do so.
  10. I already know how to do that (Doom won't be the first or last control art I've copied onto my decals to print sheet) so don't go making one on my account, I'd just like the time saver that if someone else already cleaned and edited a piece I wouldn't have to do it myself... but ah well, it'll be time well spent I guess.
  11. I'm so stealing this idea (gots to fill a decal page of my own and that's a great fix)... please tell me you saved the decal and will be uploading to the factory soon so I don't clean and resize the control art myself.
  12. eh, I'm tired of the minimate debate, yeah okay Akuma was a bad choice, so here the darkstalkers.... but really maybe we're both wrong! Maybe Street Fighter just didn't lend itself well to minimates? a major fun part of SF is the different character body types, Ryu and Ken are of normal size and male, Chun-Li is normal sized and female, Guile is a musclar tone and walks up right, Blanka is of musclar tone and walks hunched over, Sagat and Zangief are giant (and even then Sagat is lean and 'Gief massive), Dhalsim and Vega are thin as boards (where Vega is wirey and Dhalsim is just thin) E.Honda and depending on the game M.Bison are big and fat.... some superheros are like this yes, and I'm sure E.Honda would have gotten a belly piece and maybe Zangief would have gotten a big chest piece after the prototype like Kilowog... but Superheroes have the benefit that they're outfits are iconic, you can paint a Superman symbol and color pattern on a Kubear and people will know it's "Superman" you paint a white Karate uniform on them and it will not instantly read as Ryu but rather "karate man", and I bet Dhalsim reads as "Indiana Jones Villain", Zangief as "white Mr.T in his undies", Guile as "GI JOE", Blanka as "Hulk".... the Street Fighters, as much as I love them, are bland as hell when turned into something simple like a minimate. There's a reason cartoons, comics, and even other videogames can rip-off SF characters when they need a random character for some to hit. SOTA gave Street Fighter fans figures that played up what made these generic as hell designs fun, while AA didn't even bother to make their figures accurate (there's a lot wrong with Chun-Li, and they didn't even give Dan a shirt in wave 2!) Wrong buddy. SOTA had votes for EVERY line up after wave 1. With the exception of Ken, Guile, AKUMA, Zangief, and Dhalsim who were locks because they were fan favorite headliners. Fans Voted in: wave 2: Blanka, T.Hawk, Vega, and Cammy wave 3: Sakura, Gen, Adon, and Balrog wave 4: Ibuki, Remy, Birdie, and Fei Long wave 5 (never released, explained below): Juni/Juli, Rolento, Dee Jay, Guy wave 6 (never released): a vote was taken but never revealed. Wave 5 and 6 were canceled not because of lack of fan interest, but because Jerry, the founder of SOTA sold the company. The new owners then decided to royal fuck up the line, they decided the line needed a revamp despite selling well, drop the line up of 5 down to a line up of 4, threw out all of the votes and kept Zangief and Dhalsim and added E.Honda, they took a vote that boiled down to "just send us who you want a figure of" and R.Mika own. Other mistakes included changing the packaging from slick clamshells to ugly oversized boxes and upping the cost and dropping the accessories. They also took a whooping 3 years between Jerry's last wave and their first "real" wave of figures (they did release a set of shitty Ken/Ryu/Akuma/Dan that were out of scale) Under the care of Jerry, SOTA's SF line was full of characters PICKED BY FANS, fans you'd consider "hardcore", and it was only when someone had the stupid idea to disregard that and finish off the cast of SF2 did the line DIE. A painful ugly death... it's a lot like what happened with Marvel Legends, in the hands of someone who knew what they was doing the line was great. then it switches hands, quality drops like a stone, and it's dead. Jerry's trying to bring the line back under his control, releasing some Staction Figures through his new company of Dee Jay (he's from SSF2, so you know him right?) Oro, and Alex (WHOM!? oh, never mind but trust me they're awesome) he's even said he has rights to DS and will probably get Morigan made if these sell... and that's generating a lot of buzz among SF fans. SIDENOTE:..... I also find it a bit ironic this thread 99% of the time has had a banner ad for "SF3" collectibles from Sideshow Toys (some of which where made by Jerry's new company 'Pop Culture Shock'!), makes me laugh we're debating how minimates died because they catered to "hardcore" fans but other campanies are doing just that and doing fine (what non-hardcore SF fan wants a Poison statue? and if they got one do they know why the hardcore fan will laugh at them for calling her "a total hottie"?)
  13. *sigh* There's a difference in dipping into diverse obscurity in a well-established line and kicking things off with a bunch of unknown characters. The first wave of Marvel Minimates catered to, as you worded it, fair weather fans. When Marvel minis started, Hulk and Daredevil were in theaters, so they started the line off with Daredevil, Hulk, Kingpin, Elektra, and Bruce Banner. Marvel fans would recognize these characters and movie fans would recognize them as well. The next wave? Spider-Man and his amazing most popular enemies, Green Goblin and the Symbiotes. It took quite some time before we started dipping deeper into the barrel and getting some lesser known characters. And we still go back to the casual fan favorites Spidey and Wolverine quite often. You can't kick off a line with three characters that the casual fans would recognize and four that leaves them scratching their heads. You have to build the line on something and if your starting line-up is weak, then you aren't going to make it. FOUR characters no one knows? I'll give you Demitri (as I said, male Darkstalkers are action figure poison) and Lilith as being poor choices. But Akuma has been and always be one of the most popular Street fighter males since his introduction. Anyone who played an SF game after this introduction KNOWS AKUMA. If you don't know Akuma then odds are pretty good you only like Street Fighter because SOTA made a toy line and you said "OH! I remember that!"... kinda like Family Guy humor, sometimes people laugh because it's a joke and other times they laugh because "OH! I know who the Goonies are!!" same with Street Fighter, there will be people buying Street Fighter products because they LIKE Street Fighter and play SF games and people buying it because "OH! I know what those are! I played it like forever ago, but now it's kitschy!" Morigan is another extremely strong choice to start the line with, demand for her from SOTA was EXTREMELY high, she's been in both Marvel Vs Capcom games and is has a HUGE amount of products devoted to her. To say you don't know Morigan is again saying "I ignored Capcom after SF2 but I'm still a fan!" speaking of MvC2, it's probably the major reason they even made Street Fighter minimates, people were buying the SOTA figures to go with their Marvel Legends so it probably made some level of sense to DST/AA to make SF minimates to go with the Marvel ones... and in that case everyone but Demitri and Lilith are an excellent choice as they appeared in the MvC games. So Six out of Eight Characters, should be well known to anyone who's played an SF game within the last decade. If you assume fans of the series are gonna buy a product might as well use the headliners right? After all Wave 1 Kingpin wasn't African American and Elektra wore her comic outfit, they didn't feel the need to dumb it down a shade for people who considered themselves Marvel fans from the movies. By this same logic people who have been enjoying recent Street fighters know Ryu's rivalry with Akuma is FAR more important to his character then his rivalry with Ken (which is now just 'they met and fight once in awhile, and only if in tournaments) and Sagat (which has been retconned from some bloodlust hatred to Sagat just wanting one more good fight with Ryu) Akuma defines Ryu, reminding him he has a darker power within, 99% of all of Ryu's endings feature Akuma reminding him this. Spider-man in wave 2 came with Venom, he wasn't in the original Spider-man comics, didn't come along until much later in 90's but his similar powers and link to Spider-man changed him, Akuma is Ryu's Venom I could even go so far as to justify Lilith and Demitri are almost okay in that Demitri is Morigan's rival, he's her Ken... granted Ryu's Ken would have made a MUCH better choice, but it's not illogical to slap him in the line-up... he and Morigan headlined SOTA's DS line up until Jerry left and the new guys mucked it up as. Lilith is just Morigan without tits (seriously, that's her origin, she's just part of Morigan that broke off), so she can be the variant since she's an alternate Morigan (Dan being the Ken variant is all kinds of retarded though), Since Ryu's most logical rival is Akuma, and Chun-Li has hated Bison since SF2 days it only makes sense to package Morigan with Demitri. (and wave 2 continued this 'rival' theme since Dog and Cat define Gallon and Felicia, "Cold War" is Guile and Zangied, and Dan and Blanka don't have true rivals in the game but are best friends... Ken just comes with blanka because he's popular) I will however say that since Minimates now feature a crapton of 80's licenses with HUGE kitsch appeal. That maybe I'm wrong and these minimates were never meant for me... maybe they weren't meant to grab at the SOTA fans excited to be getting some really badass figures of characters they like but rather the first minimates meant to grab at fans of "remember the 80's?" If you want SF minimates out of love of the games or to go with your Marvel Mates, the line up for the SF mates was perfect... but if you want them to go with your BTTF and Ghostbusters, I agree: Less Darkstalkers More E.Honda! Ken Forever! Akuma NEVER!
  14. I already made this point, but if we're beating dead horses I'm going get a few good kicks in too: I don't want "SF2" mates, if we're gonna get Street Fighter minimates they better be "Street Fighter" in general. We already had a debate about Akuma was an "unknown" and really, as a life long Street Fighter fan who has played every game, I'm kinda tired of products that cater to those fair weather fans who played the game back in the 1990's on their Super Nintendo a couple times, are unaware there was a Street Fighter 3 and vaguely aware 4 is just now coming out, and now that Hot Topic has decided Street Fighter shirts have enough nostalgia factor to sell T-Shirts have come back as "Street Fighter fans" It's odd to me the Marvel line can be praised for diversity away from Spidey and Wolverine, but Akuma is "too obscure." No one said "there's an Ultimate Spider-Woman? Uh-oh... that's gonna kill the line", granted maybe everyone talking in those threads is enough of a Marvel fan to care there's an Ultimate Spider-Woman, but there ARE people who enjoyed Street Fighter as a game and not a pop culture fling enough to care it existed and evolved past the 80's If I had to choose between "SF2 and only SF2 mates" over letting the line die: Let it rot.
  15. Where is the $20 price announced? I didn't see a mention of price in the sales pitch. The Batman's kinda fun, but Aquaman is just epic failure.
  16. Wow that Iron Patriot is WAY less fun then the concept art implied. I thought it'd be mostly movie Iron-Man parts with a new chest... I don't like the new mask sculpt (if it's the same mask sculpt it looks REALLY off in those pics) and the new chest piece looks like he has HUGE breast rather then chest armor. so I pass, just Thunderbolts and Champions for me at SDCC and I'll just buy another Pepper/Mark 3 set and paint my own Iron Patriot I guess.
  17. I like that Vault Guard and that Spider-girl, glad they're in the same set so I only need one. Scorpion makes me wonder if Dark Avengers Spidey will have a block-head since he'd be the only Mac with a slip on mask if he doesn't and if Thunderbolts Venom has that tail since it would save cost to use the piece on two different mates.
  18. you know, there's a lot of semi-legitimate variants you could make using that concept. Spider-Hulk, Punisher Wolverine, Punisher Venom, Venom Wolverine, other Symboite characters from "Web of Shadows" , Ultimate Black Panther Captain America, Punisher Captain America, That "Captain America Armor Iron Man" from that 'What if Comic...?" that probably inspired "Iron Patriot", Thor Deadpool, Marvel Girl Deadpool, Captain America Deadpool, Spider-Kraven, Mary Jane wearing Spider-man's outfit which is for some reason overly popular as random pin-ups/fanart, the Fantastic Four from that one What if where they all got the same powers I guess could be stretched out for a while... the remaining Dark Avengers maybe.... and of course KANG! (although he'd be Iron-lad... but you know, still Kang kinda) probably more but that's all I can remember.... and hey like 5 of them would be pretty cool!
  19. those are some nice sets. Only Wolverine/Sabretooth and Bullseye/Moonstone interest me though. ... now if only wave 4 would have a Thunderbolts Norman Osborne/Iron Patriot 2-pack similar to the Iron man one in wave 3 then I can join all those people saying "now I don't need the Thunderbolts set"
  20. It still fits into either the "Married Couples", "NEW Fantastic Four", or even "Black Costumes" waves I came up with early... might not be as hodge-podge as you'd think (though it probably is)
  21. yes, yes it should! I can't believe I forgot him! He can replace War Machine or Blade since we have good enough versions of each of them! although... if it's an "African-American" wave it can't include Storm, Black Panther, or Blade since none of them were born in America (unless Storm and BP have dual-citizenships and Blade has been retconned to be more like the movies and is no longer from London)
  22. Is Storm an Avenger? I know Black Panther is and that Hydra has fought the Avengers, but they've also fought the X-Men of which Storm is a member. And Let's not forgot army builder doesn't necessarily reflect the rest of the wave (Skrull in the X-Men wave) so BP and HA aren't enough clues to see this as an Avengers wave... It could be a "NEW Fantastic Four" wave: Storm/Black Panther Spider-man/Ghost Rider Wolverine/Mr.Fixit Thing variant/Hydra Agent VARIANT: Ben Grim (since he ain't ending up in the Secret War set)/Hydra Agent maybe it's an African character wave! Black Panther/Storm Blade/Luke Cage War Machine (movie armor repaint)/Black Goliath Patriot/Hydra agent VARIANT: Isiah Bradley/Hydra Agent maybe it's a married couple wave! Storm/Black Panther Modern Wasp/Yellow Jacket Black Bolt/Medussa Another Wolverine/Hydra Agent VARIANT: Madame Hydra (was married briefly to Wolverine)/Hydra Agent Maybe it's a 'black' themed wave! Black Panther/Storm (in a black rather then white Jim Lee outfit) Black Spiderman #9/Black Cat Black Bot/Black Widow (the blond one) Black Knight (classic)/Hydra agent Variant: Black Knight (hero's reborn)/Hydra Agent Maybe it's a "Marve Zombie" booster wave! Black Panther/Storm (went to the zombie world in a recent FF story) Ultimate Mr.Fantastic/Battle Damage Magneto Dazzler/Zombie Howard the Duck (they were in AoDvMZ) Updated Silver Surfer/Hydra Agent VARIANT: Half-Eatten Silver Surfer/Hydra Agent .... see lots of ways it could it go from only knowing Storm, Black Panther, and Hydra Agent.
  23. If he told it'd ruin the fun. If they're right then we know the cypher works and then there's no point to coding any more since unless the remaining character's names don't use j,m,l,s,t,r,m,h,y,d,g, or n and the only vowel is u we'll probably have enough numbers crack them easily. (challenge!: Find a character who could be made into a 'mate that would actually fit that name restriction... Utau and Zzzax where as close as I could come and someone would still probably be able to guess (!)TA(!) and (***)A(#)) If they're wrong AA can't laugh at how crazy guesses, how excited we get over our crazy guesses, and how far off these crazy guess will lead us for future codes. (I don't know the likely hood we could get 'Jim Lee Storm' and 'Hydra Agent' from a code that acutally meant to mean two different characters ['Daily Show' Reference: 50%!] but if it HAS happened, boy must they be laughing! And they'll laugh even harder when we hit a code that doesn't fit the cypher...)
  24. I want to thank everyone, everywhere who said of the Spirit "expect it to be funny", If I had watched this expecting anything less then "the Goddamn Spirit" I wouldn't have got it (admittedly though I LOVE All-Star Batman and "get the jokes" so this movie was really made for me... man, I'd love to Frank direct an actual Batman movie in this style though.) actually on topic though: I'm kinda sad the movie tanked so we probably aren't going to get any more minimates from it. Watching the movie I found I didn't want any minimates of the characters we got minimates of, no sir, the only characters I actually wanted were Morgan Stern and the cloned goons and I doubt they make them this late in the game, especially since I doubt there's much demand for background character (funny though she was) and a four pack of random fat guys.... probably would get something like Lorilei and Plaster of Paris or another Variant Octopus/Silken Floss/Sand Saref/Spirit before them.
  25. Is it possible their won't be a face under his mask?.... or rather their won't be a 'mask' The Thunderbolts Venom looks to not be wearing a mask, the Venom face is printed on his head-block. Maybe Spider-man will be the same and this will be a 'loophole' figure to get a Black Costume Spider-man rerelease without a slide-on mask/battle damage/etc looking as close to a wave 2 variant update as possible without breaking the "no variant rerelease" rule since they can say "this isn't a rerelease. this is Mac Gargan Spider-man, not Peter Parker Spider-man..."
