  1. Does DST have a Q&A session that this could be asked maybe? See if it could be done now in some way. It just wouldn't be the 90s X-Men without hoverchair Professor X...and Bishop, Jubilee, Forge, and maybe a new Colossus and a Banshee.
  2. You know with all the buzz about the 90s X-Men wave 34 here and how a number of us would like to fill out the rest of that era of the X-Men, one has to wonder...could they actually do a hoverchair Professor X? Obviously they could do a Jubilee, though I imagine at least one new hairpiece needed maybe for her hairstyle, let alone if they have her sunglasses over her eyes or above them. Banshee as well since we got Storm with new stuff on her. The cape being a big notice that could somehow be altered to be Banshee's cape. But would the Professor's hoverchair be perhaps out of DST's allowed jurisdiction in what they can make in the Marvel stuff? We know they can't make the larger characters larger outside of the 'duck feet' and 'powerhouse chest' parts, but what about that hoverchair? They were able to make the wheelchair for Professor X earlier, but I'm sure they had ways of being allowed to do that. The hoverchair is obviously much bigger. Still it would be nice to get since it's 90s accurate and after Toy Biz decided not to give the hoverchair to Professor X in their Marvel Legends line (though I recall it was planned at one point), it would be nice to have a complete 90s X-Men team here and we're getting close. Thought anyone?
  3. I got my sets from Sci-Fi Genre today and will give a mini-review... Storm is awesome. I love adding 90s X-Men to my Minimates collection and how they did her up is just great with the new hair and cape. My Black Panther's face tampo is thankfully on straight. I was worried after reading of the problems involving it on here. Love the ability to change him from modern to classic. Things like that to me make a truly great minimate. The Spider-Mans (HoM and Shock Resistant) are both good, though not big concerns to me. Electro's nice to have as a minimate, but anyone else think his mask is kinda...too big looking? Scorpion is another great mate to have finally. They managed to pull off his tail and still keep a minimate style about it. The Hydra Soldier is kinda interesting with the modern and classic looks to it, but like others say, the hole on the classic head kinda ruins that appearance somewhat. Armored Daredevil is kind of a meh for me since they didn't even make a new Daredevil mask, just repainted the older one. Moon Knight is awesome. They came up with a lot of interesting things for him, including the cape and hood attachments. It works for this scale given how difficult capes with hoods over heads can be difficult in toys to do. However, my Moon Knight did not come with his cresent weapons. I thought maybe they fell out when I opened the pack, but I think like the hairpieces and hands, they'd have been taped in. So...if I contact the company, will they send replacements maybe? The other thing is my X-Force Wolverine's mask looks like crap. Badly painted (missed one side of the mask with the paint) and the eyes are WAY off compared to the yellow/blue Wolverines I saw before. Definitely would like to replace that, but doubt asking cause of crappy job from the factory will net me a better one, would it? I don't think I've lucked out on a good Wolverine mask yet. >_> At least since they have made this newer design for it. Otherwise, nice to have more new Marvel Minimates. Can't wait for the next 3 waves, which have even more characters I want. (Especially wave 34) Oh, and I didn't get the Spider-Girl/Vault Guard set yet in case anyone was curious. Kinda held off for now as I still have some stuff Ito get other then that.
  4. From what I generally hear it's Wal-Mart where the worst of it happens. It's just really sad that people do this. Minimates are even cheaper then G.I.Joes and yet someone repackages them even!? Geez.
  5. Okay, so I head out to search for toys today before the Black Friday insanity weekend here and while I found a few Joe and Transformer related things I was looking for today, which made my day... One thing, kinda left a sour feeling to it. I went into my local Toys R Us in search of the newest waves of Marvel Minimates and at first, noticing nothing really seemed to have been stocked lately (even though all the other stores I went to had stocked up their shelves before the weekend I noticed). Ithen headed down the aisle where the Marvel Minimates usually are at and then saw the box for the Molecule Man/Spider-Woman 2-pack on the shelf. Excitedly, I grabbed it off the peg, but the noticed an older 2-pack for Irom Man/War Machine Mark I behind it. The War Machine had been replaced with a Thing minimate. I then looked at the 2-pack I grabbed to see while Molecule Man was still the same, the Spider-Woman had been replaced with the Jessica Drew Spider-Woman from the earlier TRU New Avengers packs, minus her hairpiece. Honestly, repackagers make me sick. They have no right to be collectors and should have all their toys/figures/etc taken away and donated to Toys for Tots, where they'll actually get played with. Ugh. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone else has run into this annoying problem in Minimates. I've heard of it with other toylines like G.I.Joe or DC Universe, but never seen it done to Marvel Minimates before. And yet, my search for the elusive TRU 2-packs of Molecule Man/Spider-Woman and Angel/Warpath continues...
  6. This is what I've been waiting for in Minimates FOREVER. We've gotten a 90s Psylocke, Gambit, Wolverine, Archangel, and Iceman. We're getting 90s Storm, and now they show 90s Cyclops and Beast. If they complete the Blue/Gold teams here I will be SO happy. Marvel Legends never completed them which bugged the heck out of me. And I doubt Marvel Universe will anytime soon. Bring on Jubilee, Jean Grey, Forge, and even a better Colossus and Rogue. Oh, and a hoverchair Professor X. Then make wave 35 X-villains. Pyro, Avalanche, Mr. Sinister, Blob, Toad, and a Hellfire Guard
  7. Dang it all. Okay after weeks of waiting for this wave to pop up in my local TRU and weeks of an empty peg where they are supposed to be... I go into TRU today and see the tag is no longer there. They REMOVED the Marvel Minimates tag in my TRU after having gotten all the previous TRU minimates waves. They got the Ghostbusters, Terminator, and Battlestar Galactica minimates, but not the newest wave of Marvel...and now they have no tag at all for them. Now I'm beginning to remember why I stopped collecting minimates.... You either can't find all the figures you want cause of rarity or because they put them in some boxset you can never find...or if you do, for insane prices... Stupid Bullseye/Moonstone 2-pack being 1 per case. Not that it matters since we didn't get any of the wave at this TRU at all... >_O Still need to get that Champions box set too...
  8. You know, this arguement about characters being recognized by kids and stuff... Does it really apply that much in Minimates? I mean, are there a lot of kids that collect the line versus collectors? TRU is really the only place that sells them in limited quantities and everything else is comic store or online or special events like SDCC that they are sold at. Target had them briefly, but I hardly recall them having them very long either. Really though, I just don't picture a lot of kids collecting the line versus stuff like Marvel Universe or something that is sold in all stores that sell toys. Minimates are more collectors' stuff or kinda like collecting Mighty Muggs. So I'm just curious on that. I mean, I can assume that maybe AA/DST thinks in the way of some things like a Spider-Man themed wave is to appeal to kids maybe it's true. I'm just wondering if kids really do collect Minimates. For me, my first X-Men exposure was the 90s toon, and I watched X-Men Evolution too. I can't watch the newest toon as I don't have in on any channel, but I also recall a lot of X-related characters were also in the recent X-Men Legends video games too. SO I became familiar with a lot of characters even if they only appeared briefly in some episodes or if at all. (Iceman in only ONE episode of 90s X-Men!?) The Brotherhood of Mutants best lineup to me was always...even if not all together at any point in the comics and stuff... Magneto Avalanche Pyro Blob Mastermind Quicksilver Scarlet Witch Toad Other villains from X-Men villains worthy of a Minimate would be... Mr. Sinister Nimrod Abyss Calypso (and the Morlocks) the Reavers Juggernaut (powerhouse chest) Sauron Spiral
  9. Vulture and for a possible future Minimate version of Falcon I think would incorporate the backpack design Archangel and Wasp have for their wings and then have connectors on the wings for the wrists of the figures so they can still move their arms around a bit. Seems to be be the best way it could be done., but maybe they could surprise us and do something completely different. Obviously though the wings are a big part of the characters. On Lizard, I like the idea presented of having a sculpted head and a minimate head version underneath. Lizard though is definitely going to involve creating a lot of new parts I think with his tail, torn up lab coat, and if they do the head route. Scorpion and Electro though for now are welcome additions to the Spidey Rogue gallery, but also show how bad the Doc Ock in the line is even more so in need of an update.
  10. Come on. Plenty of Hulk and Iron Man variants to go through still. And if it ever came to ALL of them running dry, we can rest assured, someone will take up the mantle, like Storm maybe?
  11. You're also forgetting Beast in the Jim Lee X-Men thing... We've gotten him in his classic Avengers look in the Secret Invasion box and his Astonishing look. We had the 2 teams back then.. Blue and Gold Cyclops Beast Gambit Rogue Psylocke Wolverine Storm Jean Grey Colossus Archangel Iceman Bishop Forge was there as well, but more like the guy back at HQ with hoverchair Xavier watching over things for the team and whatnot. Jubilee was more like team mascot/Wolverine's sidekick since the previous one, Shadowcat, I think was still part of Excalibur at the time, wasn't she? LOL
  12. X-Force Wolverine huh? I was kinda hoping if they did him they'd do him in a box set alongside some of the other X-Force team... (Warpath, X-23, Archangel, Elixir, Domino, Wolfsbane) To me, that'd be cooler. And more Jim Lee versions of X-Men please! XD If we're getting Storm... Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Bishop, and/or Rogue would be nice... Especially since we're getting close versions of Gambit, Sabretooth, Wolverine, and Psylocke soon and already gotten descent versions of Archangel and Iceman.
  13. Hmm... Mark I, Mark II, Mark III...and a mystery armor... Pure awesomeness. I wonder if we'll get fan service cameos of other special armors like Hulkbuster...or of course, War Machine...
  14. A lot of the hard ones to find from what I understand... Nightcrawler Colossus (GSX) Storm (GSX) Iron Fist Power Man Tarantula Spider-Woman II (black/white) Professor X
  15. I think G.I.Joe minimates would be really cool. For some reason I can so picture a Snake Eyes minimate and how cool it would look. Dang shame no way would Hasbro allow it despite their own love of making mini-figs of their properties... (Robot Heroes, Combat Heroes, etc) I could so picture the first wave even... Duke/Cobra Commander Snake Eyes (ninja)/Storm Shadow Scarlett/Baroness Gung Ho/ Destro Roadblock/Zartan variant: Commando Snake Eyes ...sigh...
  16. Found the Wolverine mates today at my TRU. Picked up a Wolverine/Deadpool because I like Deadpool. (His swords can be put in scabbards on his back) And also the Wolverine/Agent Zero and Wolverine/Silver Fox 2-packs for trading maybe... Though I doubt anyone will be willing to trade the minimates I'm looking for still for them.
  17. Looking over some of my older minimates where they had the bigger feet and not as detailed looks about them, it got me thinking... Who in Marvel Minimates needs a redo? Sure we've gotten a number of redos in Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, etc... More popular characters. But there are some that could use a re-working, right? Daredevil is a prime example of a MM in need of being redone of course. A new Nightcrawler would be cool too for those whom haven't gotten him, or for those whom would maybe like a more detailed one (bendy tail maybe?) What are you, fellow MM collectors thoughts? Heck, it could be even more newer minimates that could use a redo.
  18. I agree on the Jim Rhodes as a variant was a stupid move on AA/DST's part. Rhodes is War Machine. While Stark only briefly wore the armor, Rhodes BECAME the character and to make him the variant... It's just annoying. The Vision variant from a previous wave is a lesser version to the classic Avengers one as unless they make a Young Avengers set, he isn't seen as a big deal otherwise. But Rhodes... Yeah, that is a bugger.
  19. It's things like exclusives and hard-to-find that lead me to finally say Goodbye to Marvel Legends... Well, that and Hasbro's screwing up of the whole line and stuff more so. The whole exclusive thing kills toylines a lot of times, especially when you have scalpers snatching them up like crazy. DC Universe's Wal-Mart wave for example was a BADLY distributed wave of the line and has left a sour taste in many collectors mouths. With the Minimates, I mostly pick and choose on them. I was into DC Minimates until DC Direct killed them. Star Trek too, at least until the last few waves. (Wanted the main Enterprise crew mostly) With Marvel Minimates, I do see the annoyance on trying to get a lot of these guys, but I've managed to get ahold of many characters I wanted. However, I do try and keep some sanity and not jump on getting them at outrageous prices I see them have on eBay. It's fortunate I have not been desiring a lot of the variant figures, but there are select few Minimates I would like that seem to be IMPOSSIBLE to find, or if found, for a sane price. Giant Size X-Men boxset, or more so, Nightcrawler... The Iron Fist/Power Man 2-pack that was exclusive to Toyfare... More recently, the Jim Rhodes War Machine variant... Still, if you let the idea of trying to get it all run your life, it kinda makes the collecting less fun and more obsession then anything. I search for stuff a lot when I'm on the net sure, but I need to keep myself from going over the line where I'm willing to pay like $50 for a Nightcrawler minimate, you know what I'm saying?
  20. Nah. The movie Marvel Minimates stuff I'm not really interested in, especially X-Men The Last Stand as I didn't like that movie one bit. I prefer the comic styled stuff. So the Wolverine: X-Men Origins ones aren't going to grabbed up by me either.
  21. More Minimates arrived today. The Defenders box set Nova/Gamora Classic Spidey/Shocker Back in Black Spidey/Kraven Cosmic Spidey/Transformation Venom Nova...dang is he awesome. The add-ons for his armor and stuff remind me of the amazing detailing of the DC minimates...may it rest in peace. The best one though of these guys...is the Transformation Venom. He is by far the most awesome of them. A head with two sides to it showing an insane Eddie Brock on one side and evil grinning version on the other. A removeable Powerhouse chest piece showing Eddie's body being tranformed into Venom underneath, an extra torso cover made to look like a hooded jacket in black for Eddie, and three sets of hands (normal, clawed, and long fingered hands). All it would need to complete it is an alternate Venom head with tongue, but with all the extras already included, it's great already. I look over my list of minimates and while I've been increasing my collection...I still have a lot to get here. The hardest ones I think to get will be... Power Man Iron Fist Nightcrawler Professor X War Machine (Rhodes variant)
  22. In no real order... Cyclops (Jim Lee/90s) Jean Grey (Jim Lee/90s) Beast (Jim Lee/90s) Storm (Jim Lee/90s) Professor X (hoverchair) Falcon Kang Dormammu Yellowjacket Tigra Spider-Man variant... Spider-Man with six arms Wolverine variant... X-Force Wolverine
  23. I would love to see some pics of anybody using this wolvy for a forge...I have some ideas but want to see what everyone else comes up with while I am waiting to get mine Jeff of the miniacs I'd think the Wolverine body would work easier for a Banshee then Forge since you have to make a bunch of extra stuff for Forge to look right really. Now that I think on it... I wonder how would AA do a Banshee? Would they give him a cloth cape? Or make it so his arms can't move at all with a plastic one? O_o
  24. Oh, yeah. I got a few characters off of him already coming. Cloak, Dagger, Archangel, Apocalypse, and Bullseye. I figured that was enough for now. Though with the Rogue as well, I wish they could have included her jacket and stuff. She could definitely use a re-do like MM gives to characters like Hulk, Captain America, etc... Back when I was still active on collecting MM the first time, I almost got a Nightcrawler in a trade on here, but the person I was trading with wanted a couple of Transformers of mine to trade for him. I think that is what helped make me think on, and quit Minimates when I did. Come on Art Asylum...re-release Nightcrawler... It can be re-made in modern form even since it's not much of a change in appearance, but please we need Nightcrawler back. Welcome to my world. That's pretty much exactly how I got re-hooked. The TRU minimates. Though I fortunately hadn't sold all of mine when I had quit collecting them. I still have all of my DC Minimates, Star Trek Minimates, and Marvel Minimates. Seriously, though when you look on it, the Minimates are still cheaper then Hasbro's Marvel Universe, and in some cases, more poseable. LOL Update: I already got the Hawkeye/Vision 2-pack from the vendor I bought it off of from eBay. Basically the cost of a 2-pack at TRU including the shipping. The funny part is, I ordered the classic Vision/Hawkeye 2-pack and they sent me the modern (Young Avengers) Vision/Hawkeye variant 2-pack.
  25. I'm doing pretty much a similar thing here in the binge spending money on the minimates. Yesterday I bought a Defenders set, the entire wave of the previous TRU MM (Kraven, Shocker, Venom, etc), Nova/Gamora, and Hawkeye/Vision online. The ones that really are the hard to find ones seem to be more of the older ones. I've been trying in particular to get the early X-Men... Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus from the X-Men box set (I got Wolverine and Cyclops already) Rogue (got Mystique), and Professor X. My wishlist for future minimates also includes X-Men characters... The wave with Deadpool, Gambit, and the others is a good start to help further Jim Lee-era/early 90s X-Men, which is th era I grew up on and I would LOVE to see Jim Lee style versions of Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey, Storm, Colossus, Banshee, and Rogue to complete the Blue and Gold teams. (We already have a good Iceman and Archangel) I collect other toylines, but they're either going to be dead for movie lines (Tranformers and G.I.Joe), or are not releasing anything new yet (DC Universe Classics).
