  1. I've just started an Iron Fist pseudo-EZ (a couple are EZ at least) custom thread, complete with guessing game here in the customs area. Come play if you're a fan of bronze age madness like I am. "The 12 Days of Fistmas", as a follow-up to my previous "Sweet Christmas" thread. /shamelessplug
  2. OK... I'm almost ready for the first of 12 days of random Iron Fist awesomeness. Or mediocrity, depending on your perspective. But this time, I need your help. Prior to each reveal, I want to see if you can guess the next character based on a clue or clues. If you think you've got it, post a pic of the character from a comic panel or cover from the interwebs. On the first day of Fistmas, my sensei gave to me... Hint: This first one's a layup...
  3. Man-Thing. Wow. Stoked. I'm very happy with this choice. Nice to get both MT & Howard within months - I'm surprised they didn't end up in a two-pack together.
  4. Thanks!! Glad you like them... And Luke, you may have recognized your "male chest" template popping up there. Speaking of which, I notice darker inks tend to smear a bit. Any tips on a fixative I can use?
  5. Not yet, but very soon... probably after San Diego... a sequel is in the works. Like unto a thing of plastic? I plan to have a bit more fun with the reveals this time. Stay tuned.
  6. You know, dammit, I was only in for Marvel MiniMates. I've held the line this entire time. And now this *#@$. I'm going to have to go all in on Predator and Aliens. Well played, DST. Well played.

For Marvel taxonomies, I always think of it like this: Avengers - Includes "Big 3" characters & supporting as well (Cap, Thor, Iron Man), and SHIELD Defenders - Includes their "Big 3" characters & supporting as well (Dr. Strange, Hulk, Namor) Fantastic Four - Inclusive of Inhumans, Silver Surfer characters, Galactus Heralds, etc. X-Men - Includes sub-groups & Wolverine characters, Alpha Flight, Savage Land characters Spider-Man - big roster of villains here Street Heroes - Daredevil, Heroes for Hire, Moon Knight, Punisher, Cloak & Dagger, misc. Supernatural - Dracula, Man-Thing, Zombie, Brother Voodoo, Ghost Rider, etc. Cosmic - Non-FF related; Ms. and Capt. Marvel, Warlock, ROM, Omega, Gamora, Drax, Eternals, Celestials, original Guardians of Galaxy, etc. Western & War - Sgt Fury, Combat Kelly, Two-Gun Kid, Rawhide Kid, etc. Monsters - revivals of old pre-Marvels, like Scarlet Beetle, Googam, Tim Boo Baa, Gorgilla, Blip, Diablo, Goom, etc. Fantasy & Misc - Deathlok, Devil Dinosaur, Killraven, Skull the Slayer, Blackmark, Void Indigo, Thongor, anything without a place or temporally displaced EDIT: now when I read above I had missed a post that was very similar...

I'll play. Classic Avengers - Classic Falcon 90s Avengers - [no vote] Modern Avengers - [no vote] NOW Avengers - [no vote] Classic X-Men - Marvel Girl (green skirt) 90s X-Men - [no vote] Modern X-Men - [no vote] NOW X-Men - [no vote] Spider-Man - Jackal Mystic Marvel - Man-Thing / Dormammu (tie) Cosmic Marvel - Classic Adam Warlock / Uatu (tie) Inhumans - Medusa Marvel Knights - Paladin Miscellaneous - Super Adaptoid
  9. Yeah, "super hero" Dr. Strange is a great idea... he could also be packed with a classic Dormammu, since we've technically gotten one already with MVC (I had forgotten about the repaint constraint). Strange + Dormammu replacing Thor/Enchantress on my list.
  10. Cyclops (classic skullcap) / Marvel Girl (green skirt). yes. Falcon (classic) / Captain America (Kirby) Invisible Woman (to match Reed) / Dragon Man (or: Wizard, Psycho-Man, Awesome Android, Attuma, etc.) Thor (of some kind) / Enchantress (or: Executioner, Hela, Surtur, Ulik, Kurse, etc.) I was thinking: Invisible Woman could come with Franklin (4 1/2) & HERBIE pack-ins instead of a second figure.
  11. It should be a "One-Above-All" MiniMate with Jack's head underneath, or as an alt head. Not to be confused with the Celestial of the same name, this omnipotent being was actually drawn as Kirby at one point: http://www.comicvine.com/one-above-all/4005-44473/ I think a Watcher with Stan's head underneath would be cool. Or Forbush Man.
  12. MisterPL, that's an interesting theory. It would make sense. At the end of the day though, as long as there's still an outlet for comic-based MiniMates and they're willing to go obscure every now and again, I would never protest variety at retail. So regardless of what this ends up being, I'll end up A) buying them, or B ) not. Never C) choosing B, and then complaining ad nauseam about it.
  13. The part that raises my eyebrow is the suggestion that some people will be "unsure" about it... That automatically obviates anything that would be a clear value-add, like build-a-dioramas, additional pack-ins, etc. I can't imagine something that would make me "unsure" as long as it means more MiniMates. Unless it's something like civilian + costumes, so "virtual" two packs with one character, e.g. Stark plus armor as one two-pack. Or even two looks in one pack (girl Thor, boy Thor). That would be less exciting. Or every 2-pack has an army builder? That could suck, requiring multiple purchases of the same character to army-up. This is assuming "unsure about" is marketing copy for "sucks in some way" for the hardcore collector. What else might make anyone here "unsure?"
  14. Saw that this had been announced at Toy Fair so I thought I'd kick off the thread. Speculation? Line couldn't be shown for secrecy. Maybe this is where Hulkbuster will land.
  15. Daredevil in Defenders Luke Cage in Defenders ...call it a loose association. And as mentioned above, Surfer and Namor are off the table legally for the time being. This manifestation of Defenders seems more like a Marvel Knights-y take.
  16. Daredevil: Vigilante, Yellow, Wally Wood, Armored We've gotten some of these before, but Yellow could use a refresh, Wally Wood style would be new, and Armored could be plussed-up with some sculpted pieces. ...but I'm also in agreement I'd rather see the "and friends" approach, or "vs." Like so: Wally Wood style Daredevil, Gladiator (Potter), Owl, [Purple Man or Jester or Mr. Hyde or Mr. Fear]
  17. LOVING Hobgoblin and Apocalypse. Please, oh please, oh please... Classic 70s red & white Falcon sometime soon. AmeriFalcon looks pretty cool, but every new non-Classic Falcon is slowly murdering my soul. [drama aside, objectively: the whole wave looks really nice & up to the standards of quality DST has set for the line]

What's under the Sentinel's chest cap?

At the end of the day.................. it gets dark . The only reason for the hole in the head was for production purposes .......if there was another reason ask yourself why & how a pegged hairpiece is going to be interchangeable with a 'hole-less' headed Minimate ? Pegged hairpieces have 0% more efficiency of 'staying on' than a non-pegged hairpiece . Pegged hairpieces have one chance of being applied to a non-holed head ...........that chance comes after the use of an x-acto . Devil's advocate: Rufus' topknot, Lady Deadpool's or Nukpana's ponytail, any other "shallow" piece like a small cap (e.g. Glenn or Chef Duff's) or tiny hairpiece (e.g. Ult Hulk's hair or World War Hulk's hair). These would not stay on without the peg. Totally in agreement re: x-acto though: I've performed that surgery before and will likely do so again. So a few more "un-holed" heads when appropriate would not be the end of the world for me. But to maximize possibilities, I say pegs are warranted, independent of the overall head-hole strategy for baldies. But I think the thrust of my initial post was just to say that aesthetically, for me personally, I don't mind exposed holes. And there goes any chance I ever had of running for office...

Count mine as a vote for liking the holes, even for bald or masked characters. I like the customizability & accept it as part of the aesthetic of block figures. At the end of the day though, it doesn't matter either way to me.
  21. Don't want to know because of spoiler material, or because you don't like the direction things are headed?
  22. Maybe the real whammy is making people think he looks like Errol Flynn, when he actually looks like Sloth:
