  1. Interesting thread, I don't usually think of mates in terms of the 2-packs they came in -- most of the combos I can't really remember, but some of the themed ones do stand out for me. The Unmasked Spidey set was pretty much perfect, as mentioned. The first 2-pack I remember being excited to see was Firestar/Iceman, and I also really liked when Cloak & Dagger were released in the same pack. I loved that they rounded Old Man Logan up to a 2-pack instead of it being just another lone Wolvie. My favorite packaging is the Punisher/Battle Damaged Cap set with the illustration on the front. And I remember being really wowed by how detailed the paint was on that Spidey 3 preview set, for the time at least. But I'd say my personal favorite is Shadowcat/Captain Britain, that's the 2-pack I was most excited to get ever, especially after years of "never happen" from Chuck .
  2. The LCS wave with Beardy Thor showed up randomly at my TRU last year...
  3. Just picked these up, some pretty slick mates. I was going to skip Shanna after seeing those photos, but in person I honestly can't see any difference between the two skin tones. Oh and a couple of the Spideys I saw had the eyes pretty off-center, but the rest were decent, and I definitely appreciate him having the full wrist-webbing this time around. Really happy with Rogers too, it's like getting a little Wave 50 bonus since I voted for him.
  4. Adventure Time is right up there with Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones for me. I got into it because the humor was so crazy and absurdist, but the characters and world have really developed since then, I love it. Minimates or not, it would be great for a better toy company like DST to get hold of the license. That Jazzwares stuff is terrible.
  5. If we get another Spidey wave with civilians, which Chuck always seems down for in the Q&As, I'd want to see Harry and Robbie, or a new Gwen and MJ. I really hope we do get Moira at some point, and like Nessex said she went through a couple of lab "costumes" in the '90s if that makes her any more likely. Foggy'd be rad too. I would love to get an Alias-era Jessica Jones... If civilians in space suits count, then I want a Cammi from Avengers Arena. And I kind of want a Miss Thing from FF, even though I guess she's a pretty easy QC.
  6. Really? It's not a poll, it's a discussion board, so people are going to discuss what they like and don't like about things. Posts keep mentioning "haters" and "complaining" but I haven't really noticed anyone being rude or whiny about this set, just having different opinions on what they like and don't like, same as usual.
  7. We may be getting a little beyond the scope here
  8. DST's character selection makes sense given the story, it was pretty much these guys or a bunch of battle-damaged characters. I think Angela is a pretty ridiculous move on Marvel's part, but with Marvel pushing her she makes perfect sense to include in the set. And Ultron I just posted about in one of the other 14 threads about this... We may not collectively love every mate you guys release, but we never intend to bring down your day Zach!
  9. I wasn't trying to imply the old Ultron mate was in dire need of an update or anything, just that I'd prefer an update over the weird (to me) cover-only version. The light-piping was cool, but one with a face tampo could be cool too. I mean I'd also have preferred getting the gold Ultronbot in this set, or even a FA Ultron from when he looked like a big metal corkscrew, which I think they briefly showed at one point. I'm just not really digging the design and that it's not in-story, but lots of others here seem to really like it.
  10. Ditto, but I hope we still get a proper version of that armor from the Fraction book someday too, would go great with Rescue. Well, comic-cover-accurate anyway. I know he probably appeared on more covers than actual pages of that series, but I'd have been way happier with a regs Ultron update. That Fury's a home run though.
  11. I might pick up the Buffy ones, it's the only license there with more than one or two characters I'd want, and something about having them as old Star Wars figures does have a weird appeal to me. Not thrilled about Funko being involved though, their products always have such terrible QC when I see them up close.
  12. 11's out... and my terribleness at deciphering bump codes continues. If anyone needs a rock climber, yeti, or lady robot, I'm looking for the policeman, scarecrow, and Blues Brother (I have older minifigs in my trade thread post too).
  13. You might want to check out the photos from SDCC...
  14. Well, you've gotta go TRU wave really, for that extra slot... Luke Cage / Man-Thing Ghost Rider 2099 / Doom 2099 Hellcat / Squirrel Girl Dr. Nemesis (original costume) / Warwolf It wouldn't leave me "satisfied with my completed Marvel collection" though, if DST made my entire mental wishlist tomorrow I'm sure I could come up with more.
  15. Was too busy to check my (Canadian) TRU last week and today I found the leftovers of the wave. At first I thought I could at least grab the Wanda pack, but some asshat had been nice enough to open the box and steal her accessories.
  16. Just picked up a gigantic box at the post office, with this safely tucked inside. I don't even have a camera on my phone I'm afraid, but it looks awesome with my Thunder-mates climbing all over it! Big thanks again to Shane for the great contest
  17. I'm guessing the color 2-pack will be Smith & Robot again, they already showed color prototypes of them (Toy Fair I think?).
  18. You've really been one of the defining voices of this place GH. Good luck with everything.
  19. Thanks everyone! I'm definitely looking into a new career as a random number generator... Um, my camera broke like 2 years ago and I have yet to replace it. I spend all my money on toys
  20. Tried the main 2 TRUs in Toronto this afternoon, and there was nothing but marked down AvX sets. Still cool they hit Canada first though!
  21. Yeah, my LCS got these in on Wednesday, and they weren't terrible in person, but they didn't seem worth the price really. Some of the 3.75" Lukes from the last couple of years even look more Hamill-y to me than this one. But then I've never been bothered about scale. I'll just stick with grabbing the occasional figure from the smaller line, or what's left of it.
  22. Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for putting on the contest Shane!
  23. I would buy a Molly. Especially if she came with a voice chip where she just said "Mawwwly" over and over. I'm guessing she didn't have a completely random Brooklyn accent in the Japanese version though.
