  1. Mine were the 3-inch Trek Minimates. They were a Christmas gift from Mom. I was pushing 40 and she's still buying me toys.
  2. On the internet, so I know it's authentic. http://www.ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com/ Wait 30 seconds after the campaign ad loads.
  3. After seeing what the Joker will look like in Nolan's Bat-sequel, I'm jazzed with the possibility that DC Direct may offer up a wave or two of Minimates based on the movie. Art Asylum's already done prototypes for Batman (yeah, I'd like some 'mates based on Begins as well). Time for some Moviemates, DC style!
  4. I don't miss the Gargoyle set but I wish they'd done the full-scale Javelin 7. That would have been sweet. I'm expecting an Alfred/Jim Gordon 2-pack from DCD sometime. If they can give them "6-inch" action figures, they can give us 'mates.
  5. I'd better not start seeing chase figures in the DC line. Are they keeping the NY office open or are people relocating to MD?
  6. After convincing my comic shop owner that, while he usually orders every Marvel Minimates wave, he HADN'T ordered Series 14, I finally got my X3 'mates this week. (These really should've been out a year ago, but that's another topic.) The figures look great but DC Direct has spoiled me. First of all the X3 'mates are more expensive by $2. Accessories are non-existent. I'm not sure what I'd have added but DAMN this was weak. Gimme a flight stand for Storm or something. Colossus looks ridiculously wee. I wish DST would get on the phone with Marvel and argue for bigger figures especially now that Toy Biz is out of the picture. I doubt Hasbro's gonna give a shit about the block figure category after their Stikfas fiasco. Having to pay more for the chase didn't help. I'll complain about that 'til DST stops offering them. What a pain. Maybe if it was TWO chase figures in the 2-pack instead of one. I just don't like trying to convince myself that this extra Logan is really Mystique disguised as Wolverine.
  7. Cool. Kept flashing back to the first time I saw footage of Bigfoot.
  8. I gotta try this. Sounds like a dedicated procedure, though, even without the gluing.
  9. I'm sure the 13 & under crowd have already alerted their legal guardians that we drop the fuck-word every once in a while and use the chat room to lure sexual predators.
  10. The barely legal ladies may continue to post their audition shots, though, right?
  11. Reportedly both suits have been built practically by Stan Winston's studio so there aren't any CG cheats when it comes to proportions and anatomy. That's one of my pet peeves about the comic armor; in some cases it's better off as a mecha suit given the creative liberties some "designers" take. Looks good so far. Really wish Hasbro was offering a 4-inch scale line. I guess I'll take the Minimates instead.
  12. Some of you might remember that when I got my case of Cylons, one was missing its codpiece. No biggie. But Shanester remembered and offered to send me one of his. It was kind of awkward trying to explain to MrsPL what was in the package when it arrived this afternoon. "A Cylon crotch?" She's familiar enough with BSG to know that I might have been referring to the skinjobs. When I showed her she just shook her head at the silly man smiling as he completed a toy robot. Anyway, Shane's definitely got some good toy Karma coming his way. Thanks for thinking of me!
  13. Welcome aboard, Trekker 42. Maybe I'm just being naive, but as someone who likes ALL Star Trek, I was kinda hoping that DST would forego the "one incarnation at a time" formula they're using with the 7-inch line and just put out waves of figures from any era of Trekdom. You know, one that offers something for everyone. That said, here's the kinda series I'd like to see: - TWOK Kirk & Khan - ENT Archer & T'Pol - VOY Chakotay & Borg - DS9 Worf & Jadzia Dax And oh look; no fucking chase figures! (Yeah, DC Minimates are totally spoiling me.)
  14. Thor, if only because it's indicative of things to come. (More Avengers! Ultimates, please!)
  15. I'll be masturbately vigorously until your return. You know, maintaining the status quo. God Bless the Internet.
  16. How about boxed sets for the specialty market (us collectors) and 2-packs for the mass market (kids/newbies)?
  17. I just pre-ordered the Marvel Zombies boxed set and I have to say I'm relieved this wasn't offered as a wave. I am NOT a fan of short-packed chase figures at all, especially if they're popular variants like Black Spidey. It just pisses me off when a manufacturer decides to try to build "excitement" by making collecting frustrating as all hell. I would LOVE to see future Marvel and BSG waves offered as boxed sets instead. That works for completists like me, of course, but obviously not for those who just want that Vision figure or Six variant and are stuck with four or five other characters for $15. So is DST testing the waters with boxed sets like this? Might this be the way they're heading with Marvel Minimates? Hopefully it's just a new direction and not a sign of the line being in its death throes like Pocket Superheroes not too long ago.
  18. Pre-ordered mine through my LCS. $14.99 is good for me.
  19. Until AA puts a "Huff Me!" hole in the packaging, you have to open them to smell the plastic goodness!
  20. I got a paper clip and a Darth Maul watch. Oh wait. Wrong giveaway.
