  1. I'd forgotten that Battle Beasts was an in-house property. Thanks for the reminder. Not to nitpick (okay, just to nitpick) but when you say 3-inch body you're actually referring to the 2.5-inch body introduced in the Lord of the Rings line and used in the DCD line as well. The 3-inch body was the original Minimate buck used on figures like Bruce Lee, Dark Angel, and KISS. Either way, I don't understand Chuck's disdain for the larger bodies. I know it's probably easier to cost 'mates at one particular size but it seems like a cop-out when you've got certain characters that scream to be larger. (Minimates in lifts don't always cut it, in my opinion.)
  2. I have a scale question: Does the agreement for Battle Beasts preclude DST from using the larger 2.5" body? I was looking at the image above and noticed that Vorin looks like he's made from a larger body than Zik. I'm guessing the image of Zik was simply scaled down to fit in the same pic with Vorin but it got me wondering if we'd see the 2.5" bodies (last seen in the DCD line?) resurrected in this line. Maybe it's not too late to make this the first scratch & sniff Minimate set! Might be a huge selling feature. Might just stink. Might be both!
  3. Is it just me or does Emma Frost have a (True Blood) Pam De Beaufort thing going on?
  4. Maybe they meant 11AM Banana Standard Time. (Whatever that is.)
  5. I was at TRU Saturday and saw nothing. I guess I know how I'll be spending my free time this week.
  6. Makes perfect sense. Alan always had a weakness for wood.
  7. 11AM EST? I want to set my alarm.
  8. Clearly the "bananas" comment was a reference to Congorilla meaning DST has the DC license.
  9. Monkeys make everything more fun. Everyone knows that.
  10. Sooo... it does contain human characters (like POTA) but according to Luke it doesn't contain human characters (like POTA). I'm confused. Screw it. It's probably just army-builders sets of these guys:
  11. "Bananas?" Planet of the Apes? Naw. THAT would break the internet. Not the Marvel part of the internet but it would make a pretty decent dent in the rest of it.
  12. We were just talking about this over lunch and someone suggested that the cop should have shot both of these guys in the head. After a moment or two of pensive silence, no one argued.
  13. Unification Spock would be a welcome addition to this Trek fan's Minimate collection. My DC Minimate collection is missing Man-Bat and Martian Manhunter (the latter due to a trade that went unfulfilled). Somehow I missed out on the Iron Spider-Man 'mate but since he was missing the legs protruding from his back, I'm hoping DST revisits the figure someday with an upgrade. Like so many other Star Wars collectors, I need a Vintage Yak Face and Blue Snaggletooth to complete that childhood set. What I really need is a time machine, in part to save a few of the toys I ended up ditching as a wee lad.
  14. I chose Falcon and Banshee as well. Falcon has me flashing back to my Mego days and after watching "X-Men: First Class" again over the weekend, Banshee was at top of my mind.
  15. I'm afraid that a big part of why retailers WON'T order DST's Trek will be due to how poorly Playmates Toys' last line performed. I know Hasbro has the mass market license for the next movie but I've no idea what the scope of their agreement entails. For all I know they're only offering Mr. Potato Head figures as Trek characters. I agree with others that a successful Trek line has to include other incarnations of the property, from TNG and DS9 to VOY and ENT. The new film did nothing to diminish interest in all things Trek where end consumers are concerned. I'd like to see a future Minimates line offer more variety. After all, Marvel Minimates isn't "All Spidey, all the time."
  16. Thumbs are fingers, folks. All fingers have names. And 'mates have mittens.
  17. I'm very disappinted to read that Scotty will NOT be included with the Enterprise. To be honest, that figure was a big part of how I was going to justify purchasing another Kirk and a super-deformed starship I don't care for. Even though I already have a Scotty, his red shirt makes him great custom cannon fodder. Now I've got to figure out how much I want to spend on that bridge chair.
  18. Very nice pic, Geohound. I need to find a way to display mine like that. (That and my armory of Iron Man 'mates!)
  19. Yeah, Star Wars is most DEFINITELY "creater owned." Like, kung fu death-grip, George's kids won't get any, "creator owned!" And I may be mistaken but I believe Hasbro would have to sub-license Star Wars since block figures would probably fall under their current agreement. I believe that arrangement has worked out well for them and Sideshow.
  20. Dark Horse can't sublicense Star Wars without the consent of Lucas Licensing. Sorry.
  21. Random Thoughts: - I wish DST could have used the 2.5" body for the Lizard. I know scale doesn't bother everyone but it bugs me. Maybe I'll substitute my DC Killer Croc as a stunt double. - Zach's job seems like a lot of fun so he really needs to balance that perception by posting a few mind-numbing spreadsheets for us. - Koopa Troopas!
  22. I've got too many Wolverine variants as it is and not enough teammates to go with him. No interest in a hairy Cap, extra rocky Thing, or a bulked up Grey Goliath. (Sounds like a combination of early morning infomercials.) Ghost Rider would have been a second choice until I remembered he wouldn't get a bike. And everyone knows that Cyborg Spidey will get made whether he wins this poll or not. I'm partial to Iron Man so they got my vote.
  23. I went to my local (IE - two hours away) Disney Store last Saturday and came up empty. They had FF sets on clearance but said the Avengers wouldn't show up 'til maybe Wednesday. (They must be busy making billions at the box office.)
