  1. I wouldn't say Dick was a pussy. Dick had it hard and overcame a lot. Granted, Bruce helped guide Dick but it was up to Dick to make the right moves. Give Dick some credit.
  2. I just got my shipment from Luke's (praise Luke!) and just for the heck of it, put Hulk's hair on Banner's head. Except for the green ears, he's looking like Harry Potter!
  3. I wouldn't say Batman's Dick is on the table. That might be a little confusing. It's actually Robin's Dick and more specifically the Classic Dick. I know people have their preferences. Personally I never cared for Dick when I was young. Dick just seemed to be an accessory at best and more often a distraction. But the older I got, the more I learned to appreciate Dick. The trick is to give Dick something to do, a way to contribute other than spitting out the occasional puns or being tied up. Fortunately over the years, Dick has grown thanks to the great people handling him. Now I like Classic Dick, contemporary Dick, mature Dick; whatever. It's no lnger as much about the age as the experience. So long as Dick stays in shape and doesn't get hurt (which is hard, given what Dick goes through), it's all good. And while I really liked Nolan's movies, I couldn't help thinking Dick would be great in his capable hands. On another note, I've seen the packaging and it's pretty nasty.
  4. That's about the only way one can say "Kirby SUCKS!" in a comics forum and get away with it.
  5. I'm sure if this inaugural line performs well enough, they'll probably expand to other popular characters. I wouldn't hold my breath for Alfred or Aunt Harriet (given Mattel's history) but I could see them offering Tut, Egghead, and other villains unique to the series. After all, they gave us some pretty obscure Super Friends characters. And Bruce and Dick are included. No idea if Mattel will be offering them but they're on the table.
  6. I haven't picked up the magazine yet. However I'm still wondering what the next TRU assortment of Walking Dead 'mates will be.
  7. I just got a look at the "Classic TV Series" style guide and the character selection is pretty limited at this point. So far they've only got rights for: Batman/Bruce Wayne Robin/Dick Grayson Joker Catwoman (Julie Newmar only) Penguin Riddler No Alfred or Aunt Harriet, no Commissioner Gordon or Chief O'Hara. None of the other villains or henchmen but worst of all no Batgirl! I know Minimates (and presumably Mez-Itz) don't have to deal with likeness rights because the portraits are caricatures and protected as parody so this might not affect this category but I know a few Yvonne Craig fans who aren't going to be very happy until she works out a deal with WB.
  8. I've got the original She-Hulk and the MvC She-Hulk. I'm just going to repurpose the earlier version but I'm gonna have to buy another Sue. Damn, this series is really sucking my wallet.
  9. Why all the hate towards ENT? We're talking about a series that had one pilot, lasted four seasons, and was only cancelled once. Unlike TOS which had two pilots, only lasted three seasons, and was cancelled twice but still managed to get five series, a boxed set, and a vehicle!
  10. I'd buy all of that, probably twice. Nifty ideas. I wonder what you could do with FOUR miles!
  11. I could be persuaded to add more members of the Hellfire Club to my collection.
  12. Authentic or not, I kinda prefer the Moloids with long arms and shorter legs. They're a little more simian that way, kinda like flying monkeys but... not. They'd look adorable with little fezzes on their heads though, right?
  13. The Black Knight needs to come with his steed like Ghost Rider needs to come with his bike.
  14. After taking a long look at my first Punisher, I decided I don't really need another in the same costume, especially one paired with another Deadpool. This is perfect for newbies but I've got enough of both. I'm passing on Daredevil and Venom for similar reasons. (Never been a big Venom fan despite being really, really impressed with the "Through the Ages" set.) I did order Reed & Doom and Hulk & Loki. I'm not crazy about the gray armor on Doom so this may serve as a battle-damaged Doombot. I'll find some uses for Reed as well. I'm getting Hulk for Banner even though I've got the original with the Coke-bottle-bottom glasses. And my daughter's a huge fan of Loki thanks to Tom Hiddleston so she'll be thrilled he now has hair.
  15. Exactly. I didn't even read the story and I'm looking forward to adding these two to my collection simply because they look badass.
  16. I've never been a Thor fan so I can't add much to this discussion except to say that if AA/DST makes the figures look cool (as usual), I'm sure they'll do fine. I kinda liked the little orange turd guys. Of course, thanks to my ignorance, I didn't realize they were supposed to be 8 feet tall and only have three toes per foot but we all know how that goes. But according to Marvel, their skin is orange and their hide resembles that of The Thing. Marvel is all over the place when it comes to approving product submissions, in my experience. Maybe this week they wouldn't have approved a darker orange or green no matter how authentic. I think it has to do with the phase of the moon.
  17. My votes are in. And my vote for Worst Minimate of 2012 goes to the TRU Iron Man with falling-off-leg feature. I bought it despite all the negativity about it but didn't truly come to appreciate the hatred until I held it in my hands and tried posing it. A toy should work, first and foremost. At best this one might look okay standing in an alcove among other suits of armor but it already demands an apology figure right out of the box. Fortunately this is the only such disappointment in my collection so if this happens once every ten years, it's a novelty. 2013 is going to be a tough year. Already lots of competition lined up and Toy Fair's not even here.
  18. It was. I'd forgotten. Pre-70s but after 1928's Steamboat Willy. So yeah, it's Peter Pan. Or Mary Poppins.
  19. Not Mexico, silly. Obviously it's in Spain. It's European.
  20. I don't see the line having nearly as much character variety anyway. They'll stick to the most popular characters (main or fan faves) of course. If they treat this like a scaled down version of Hot Toys, with interchangeable hands and such, it'll thrill. Based on the X-wing pilot Luke, though, I'm only seeing a couple accessories and no alternate hands or head. Should be a fun Toy Fair.
  21. I'd forgotten why I wanted these so much. Thanks for the reminder, Hellpop. (Looking forward to seeing those customs, too!)
  22. [putting away the lotion] Sorry, Miry. Your wishlist got me excited. I, too, am looking forward to second chances. Hasbro managed to offer up plenty of armors from the first Iron Man movie withing their Iron Man 2 assortments. I've suggested DST do the same, especially when original circumstances wouldn't allow the timely release of figures like Armored Whiplash. (I really want to add that to my collection!) While I do think that's possible within each family brand, a giant boxed set that covers more than one movie property (IE Thor and Iron Man) is unlikely. I've been told Marvel frowns on that so we'll just have to come up with another way to get them into our hands. For example, I'd be all for a 5-pack of Hammer Drones that included Whiplash because I never got the army dump and army-building is cool with many collectors. And in my book, you offer ALL the Warriors Three or none at all. We were ONE 2-pack away from completing that trio. No retailer wanted that exclusive, I suppose. Thor 2 is certainly a chance to make up for that criminal exclusion. Get Heimdall and Zola in there and I'm a happy camper.
  23. It's looking like Funko funk'd up after all. They've removed the toy image from their own site and have requested its removal from at least one other that I've noticed. Interesting...
  24. We can forget about Minimates based on the '66 Batman series. Mezco has been granted the license. Oh well.
