  1. Didn't Toyfare say that it would be a retailer exclusive? My guess is that it'll be offered through AFX or something. It's likely that it'll be paired with another 'Mate, since that's how it usually works. My guess is that it'll be paired with another Six, or maybe a Boomer.
  2. I'm pretty happy with all of them, but the girls especially. I like that Spidey's mask probably comes off. I imagine that it's because it's a proto, but Spidey's arm isn't jointed. Odd because the other arm is, as are the arms on Gwen and MJ. Can't wait to see the rest of them!
  3. Awesome awesome awesome. Even though I'm not a fan of all these characters, I'm thrilled with the variety that DC is offering up with these sets. (Of course, I'll still be getting them all.) I don't mind the variants they're doing of the big three. We're still getting so many lesser known characters from many teams. Wonderful! I'm doubly excited about all the JSA we've seen so far; I can't wait to complete that team. Plus, to have 6 waves announced and to be released this year is a great schedule. Getting the deal with DCD has been a dream come true.
  4. I think we can be reaonably sure to get Sulu, Uhura, and Checkov. We know that we're getting some kind of Kirk and Spock in each of the next two waves, so I doubt that the chases would be of them. My guess for the Kirk and Spock would be mirror versions. That green tunic that Kirk often wore (like in Trouble with Tribbles) is an easy one to make, and I'd go nuts for a Spock's Brain Spock (with remote, of course). If they're paired up, battle damaged versions with those goofy Vulcan fighting things would be cool. Though they set an interesting precident with formal dress McCoy. Not too many other Starfleet folks that I'd see being made. Yoeman Rand or Nurse Chappel spring to mind. For aliens, it'd be incomplete without a TOS Klingon and Romulan. Thinking of other iconic aliens, the Gorn is the first that I think of. Next is probably an Andorian. My guess for wave 2? Dress Uniform Kirk, Dress Uniform Spock, Uhura, Sulu, Rand, Klingon (Variant: Mirror Uhura) And in wave 3 they do mirror Kirk and Spock.
  5. Yeah, best of luck to you guys. I'll be passing on this as well, since I open all of mine, and can wait until the actual wave comes out. That's one more set available! Hope all the good people at the Multiverse that want one can get it.
  6. What a great topic. Something everyone has an opinion on, but has to make tough choices. For me, it'd have to be the following: 10) Power Girl 9) Golden Age Flash 8) Capt. Marvel (though I wish he didn't look quite so goofy) 7) Nina Myers (regular version) 6) Micky 5) Tony Almeida 4) Starbuck (Colonial uniform) 3) Armored Lex Luthor 2) Jack Bauer (season 1) 1) She-Hulk That's probably about right. Depending on how the Spider-Man 3 'Mates look, that could bump off Power Girl. If Rocky 3 came out this year, then Clubber would definitely be on there. If we got Chloe and Curtis from 24, then they'd be on that list, too.
  7. Like a lot of folks, I want principle characters first. Bridge crew. I'd have no problem if they did pairings of one bridge person with a lesser known person or alien, so long as we get them all. I grew up on TNG, so I'm biased to them first. Movie-uniformed original crew second. Some folks love Iron Man variants. I'm that way about Data. TNG uniform Data, DS9 uniform Data, Nemesis uniform Data, Sherlock Holmes Data, Lore, Noonian Soong, 1800s San Francisco Data, Romulan Data, First Contact skin grafted Data, First Contact skin melted off Data...I think that's all the real ones. Not that I wouldn't take any fake ones, too. Spider-Data, Iron Data, Colonial Data, Colonial Pilot Data, Green Lantern Data, TOS Data, Crouching Data Hidden Android, KISS Data, Data Baggins...etc. Heh.
  8. Stuckakid is the first place I look. If they're sold out (which happens fast with the variants), then I look at cornerstorecomics.com. I preordered all my Marvel and DC from them. I've purchased from scifigenre.com before, but they've been more pricy lately. After those, I'll usually end up going eBay.
  9. Stuckakid sells out of the variant sets really fast. I've been going through cornerstorecomics.com for my preorders, because I keep missing stuckakid's (though I did get in on the Star Trek preorder). CSC doesn't seem to be selling the BSG 'Mates, though. I had to get my BSG wave from a local place, and they hit me up for $20 on the chase and $9 for the regular ones. $50 smackers kinda dropped my jaw. If you don't care about the variant, then go through Stuckakid or even eBay. You'll get a better deal and way more availability on the non-chase packs that way. I know this doesn't help much with your current situation, but for the future...
  10. I know what you guys are talking about. But what I say still stands. Even the newer versions of their figures are funny looking, and I doubt their plastic has gotten any better. All I'm saying is that you get what you pay for.
  11. MegaBloks suck royally. They're low-quality plastic that doesn't hold together and their minifigures are horribly ugly. Not to mention their bad habit of having ugly, overly specialized pieces. Do yourselves a favor and stick with LEGO.
  12. Defenders seems pretty likely, albeit kinda lame. Illuminati would make me jump for joy. But it could also be the renegade New Avengers. Dr. Strange, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and Wolverine (I think that's everyone). I still think it'd be awesome to get Dr. Strange in that set, even if he is the only new character. (It'd also be another way they could somehow make a black Spider-Man variant, maybe get a mask on astonishing Wolverine, and hopefully fix Luke Cage.) If I had to pick, I'd pick Illuminati, but I'll be happy with anything. Dr. Strange is cool.
  13. I believe the "someone else" is Dr. Strange in New Avengers. Bendis has said that he's continuing to write both, and that both series will sometimes cross paths, and show the same stuff from different perspectives. I really enjoyed Mighty Avengers. I like the team they set up and the personality differences. It should be a pretty fun book.
  14. 'Tis true, Kubricks do generally suck. I got the first wave of Marvel Kubricks, before MiniMates came out. They were kinda cute, but generally diappointing. They had non-articulated banana arms, weird short legs, and a strange lifeless quality to the faces. Not to mention the horrible blind boxing, super hard to find chases, and dumb rarity distributions. So, yeah, I'm not a fan.
  15. I voted for Spider-Man 3. She-Hulk alone isn't enough to get me jazzed about the Avengers (I've never really been a huge fan). The movie designs are great, and the MiniMates will be, too. Though I didn't like X3 as a movie, I rather like the MiniMates they're putting out. They look good. Though I would have much preferred a Magneto and/or a Cyclops to be included. (Yeah, Cyke was barely in it, but still, I think he had a bigger role than Colossus or Juggs.)
  16. I didn't say that Iron Man's side didn't make mistakes. Thor-bot was clearly programmed wrong, and I don't think it was right to bring in the villains. But the prison was the logical end for what had to happen. What else are you going to do with people that break the law? Lastly, the law wasn't even created by Tony. If you'll remember, before the war, he testified before Congress that they shouldn't pass the registration bill. It was already being discussed. Then came Stamford, and Tony realized that registration was happening, and that it should be done right. You can either argue in-story or out-story. But you can't mingle the two together. The fact is that the non-powered population is for registration, and they realize that Cap is not looking out for their best interests. You're welcome to call it bad writing, but it's what happened in the story and can't be written off. And Iron Man has all the accountability. He put his name out to the public, his reputation, his company, and almost every friendship he has. Tony himself said that he wasn't happy with everything that happened, and that he didn't want to do some of the things he did, but he felt that it was for a greater good.
  17. I'd hit up those Buffy MiniMates. I was saddened when the PALz line was lost with Palisades, so getting MiniMates would be great. Heh, the only reason I got the PALz was because I figured I'd never be able to get MiniMates.
  18. Why did the people pile up on him? Because he wasn't fighting for them. He was fighting for his personal belief that heroes should stay secret and hidden. The normal humans WANT registration. They want responsibility from their heroes. Cap wants to maintain his secret little clubhouse where heroes can't be held accountable for their mistakes. Iron Man is the one that is fighting for the non-powered majority. I think Cap finally realized that when he saw the actual public sentiment.
  19. Where was Spidey made to look like a chump? If anything, being able to impress Reed as he did was a pretty big deal. As for me, I loved the ending.
  20. I found lots of those two-packs in Houston. Though I don't recall ever seeing them in Austin (where I live). I'm pretty happy about these Spider-Man sets. Considering all the Spideys we've gotten before, I'm surprised to be saying that. Minor grumbling about having to get the set to get Hydro-man, but I can certainly live with it.
  21. Yeah, Samwise, talk about making up for lost time this past year! Wow...what a loaded schedule. Seems like I'll be picking up a new wave every couple weeks. I really like the idea of doing box sets. It's a good way to get in a quasi-wave that will have some solid main characters and some less popular, but much wanted, other characters. Plus, it works so well for the other licenses like Rocky and 24. Personally, I'm shocked and delighted to be getting those Marvel Zombies. That was really a set out of left field. Yay for MiniMates!
  22. Not quite. Hopper played Victor Drazen, and we're getting Andre Drazen. How I wish we were getting Victor, but Andre is fine as well. I am loving the Nina Myers Minimate, theough. :-)
  23. I think I ended up paying about $46 (plus tax) for mine, but I got them from a local place. It seems a lot, but if I had gone the eBay route, once you add in shipping, I'd have been over that amount.
