  1. Wow! Hadn't thought of FOOM in a loooooong time! Thanks for the flashback!
  2. Can I ask on the topic of general availability? I check the 2 stores a couple of times a week, and picked up 1 set at one of the stores when they first got released. I also saw them at the other local store, but didn't get any of them. Both stores have been completely empty of GB mates for the last few weeks. Does anyone know if they even WILL be restocked? Someone mentioned on another post that they learned that all of the Marvel Series 3 (with the Bullseye/Moonstone) had all been shipped from warehouse. Does anyone know if this is true for GB series 1? I'd like to think I could get more, especially the ghosts for customs.
  3. Just got notified that my pre-order at BBTS has arrived and has been processed. I figured as folks get these and start snapping pics, the wave could get it it's own thread.
  4. Now that is one set I am VERY sorry we're not getting. This line should have continued through movie #4.
  5. To be fair, though a fan of the movie, there is just SO MUCH other product available and coming soon that it's easy for this set to get lost in the crowd. Sure, I'd like to get it, but if I don't, oh well. I felt the same about Desperately Seeking Susan mates. I missed them entirely, but don't feel like my collection is really lacking.
  6. Ditto's all around. Saw the add when I got to this site, and immediately went there and placed an order soon after. Congratulations, Luke!
  7. I for one would love to see that second mask, the one that later was yellow and went with the green dress. That would likely mean we'll see that version later, or at least have the piece for customizing.
  8. I find myself doing something similar. When I see minimates accessories, I start to mentally do an inventory of unmade characters to see if the accessories would work for them. For example, when I first saw the DC penguin, I thought "nice hat, do I have time to make the Ringmaster?" Between Series 4 and 5 of Trek, I (like I'm sure a lot others have done) started rounding out the Wrath of Khan crew, the Motion Picture Kirk and Spock (worked for the large figures, right?), and of course, one of the figures that eluded me in the Playmates Trek days of the 90's, Tapestry Picard. When I do see a character, I think about whether a minimate exists, and then right into what pieces would be needed, and do they already exist.
  9. Using the 7-figures per set theory (6 regs and a variant): Black Widow / Iron Man Mark IV (the FIRST version of the armor we'll see in the beginning of the film) Whiplash / Tech Lab Tony Stark Justin Hammer / Iron Man Mark V (the version we'll see for the climactic final battle) Variant Set: Tech Lab Tony Stark / War Machine Mark I (why re-cast Rhodey for the second and NOT have him in armor, especially during that climactic final battle?) Pure speculation...
  10. I was just thinking last night about Age of Apocalypse mates! I'd like to see: Sabertooth & Wildchild Jean Grey & Wolverine Magneto & Apocalypse Blink & Morph Now, once we have the hair-piece for Blink, use it and the ankle wings for Namorita to go into the 4-pack with Night Thrasher, Kid Nova, and Speedball!
  11. I got my SDCC stuff from AFX today, and my kids and I had a great time opening everything! I ordered the Xpress pack, so as to get the 3 4-packs (Champions, Thunderbolts, Terminator) plus the Iron Man 4-pack (Hostile Takeover), and what is likely my 15th Web Armor Spider-Man. I was really hoping AFX would drop a keychain in the box, but no. Guess I'll have to trade for those (anyone know the BE/MS to Keychain exchange rate? Is it comparable to the Shrute-bucks to Stanley-nickels rate?) While I know this isn't SDCC or MArvel even, I also had waiting on my doorstep a set of the old 3" Trek mates. I had no idea these were so cool!
  12. I have posted this before, but I think there isn't so much an over-estimation of Wolverine's popularity, so much as an over-estimation of the popularity of boring Logan version of Wolverine. Give him an exciting outfit and, preferably, a mask, and he will probably sell quite well. Spidey is almost always wearing his mask when released, and he has a very cool outfit that is usually only tweaked a bit. Visually, I don't mind buying more Spideys because they always stand out in my collection and look great, but how many Logans wearing a jacket or wife-beater can one man need? I'll probably pass on both of these sets. I agree... when will we see Logan in his Fang (Shi'ar Imperial Guard) outfit?
  13. Considering that the mohawk hairpiece has already been tooled for the Dark Reign set, it seems unlikely that Storm WOULN'T be made at some point. Who ELSE could the 'bushy' mohawk piece be used for? It would look wrong on Imperial Guard Gladiator. I'm okay with additional Secret Wars 2-packs. It would be great to get Rocky Grimm, maybe a She-Hulk in FF costume, Klaw, Wrecking Crew, etc.
  14. That's great news! Of course, I'll be getting at least 2 sets of the FA, at the very least to make a FA Kitty Pryde.
  15. I got my notification of shipment on Friday, with an expected delivery date of this Thursday. Don't recall how long ago I placed the pre-order, but just glad my 2 Venkman/Marshmallow packs are on the way.
  16. Is anyone looking for just the regular set? I expect if you're shelling out $$$ for the case, you really want the bolt-faced Iron Man. It would be great if there a way to JUST get the mask. Wasn't there someone on the board who got an extra case? Guess it's been a while, and the case has already been grabbed. Sorry for everyone waiting on CSC. I have, after many waves, started preordering sets (AFX and BigBadToyStore). hopefully they won't go out of business any time soon.
  17. Going for the longshot (not the character, though we could use the spiked mullet hairpiece to customize... never mind)... I'd like to see the Squadron Supreme, preferable from their classic mini-series, though I would settle for the MAX versions as well. Could some of the team be worked in with maybe other characters from Exiles?
  18. Unlike many on the board here, when I got my Ghostbuster packs from TRU, they all arrived safe and sound in a box. I didn't realize then how lucky I was. I ordered 2 sets of dark avengers from TRU, and they each arrived in their own "padded" envelope, and the two envelopes were held together with a rubber band. Both sets were crunched, but luckily not completely destroyed. I haven't had any problems with AFX. Every order I've ever placed came reasonable well packed, and I expect the SDCC lot to be the same. If I collected these in the box, I would be very upset. Being an opener, as long as the figures are intact and accessories are present, I'm okay.
  19. The only toy line I have ever collected in its entirety was Simpson's World of Springfield, and while I haven't taken them out of storage in a while, I can't see myself ever getting rid of them (or my Minimates). But, things change, and as the line dies, I expect folks to walk away, and some will always hold on to the memories of the good times. Others will focus on the next big thing. For me, this is my last toy line. I'll let the next generation collect whatever comes after. Good Times... okay, I'd like an initial 4-pack Florida, James, JJ, and Thelma, and a PX 2-pack of Willona & Bookman. THEN I can stop collecting Minimates...
  20. Just got notice that my AFX SDCC pre-orders had been processed and will ship soon. Glad to see the GB 2pack is still in the order. After hearing about how quickly they sold out, I was worried about not getting it.
  21. ill do it ill do it just let me check my tru they just restocked wave 2 a week ago and last time i went (two days ago) they had idunno like 3 Wait... could be a glitch, but my sarcasm meter just pinged.
  22. You mean like Union Jack, Wonder Man, Silver Fox, Agent Zero... like THOSE toys r us exclusives showing up somewhere else? I'm not saying it's not impossible. I have no information regarding the production run of Bullseye and Moonstone. They may eventually be literally clogging the pegs one day. Maybe when the next series comes out (27?) and TRU does its next wave of mix-n-match packs, we'll see 3 BE/MS per case. Who knows? One thing I find amusing is that people can cry foul on the availability of this pack. I'd like to get a set of the AFX keychains from SDCC, but am not going, and that's the ONLY way to get them. Is THAT fair? Sure. That's life. It'll go on. Maybe I'll hold on to a BE/MS pack and trade for them...
  23. So, not going to the show, I preordered the minimate exclusives from AFX. Has anyone else done this in years past? Does my preorder guarantee that I'll get a set shipped to me after the show? This is my first time doing this, as usually the minimate exclusives are few. It would be nice to have some comfort that they set aside the figures for the preorders first, both attendees and non-attendees, and then sell the rest.
  24. I finally picked up the Wolverine/Sabertooth pack today, and have to say I really like the Wolverine. It looks like it will go very well with the Cyclops from the Cyclops/Dark Phoenix pack from years ago. Both have a Byrne-esque feel to them. I'd be willing to buy all of the X-men again from the Giant Size box set if they updated the appearances to make them less cartoony.
  25. I am grateful for TRU's carrying minimates. Is it likely we would have ever seen the TRU exlucisves (Marvel, T2, Ghostbusters, and BSG) without TRU? Don't know. Don't want to think about it. I think everyone who has gotten some of the TRU packs is grateful that TRU is keeping BSG going, greatly increasing GB (your 4-pack now has 10 more figures to go with it), and enhancing Marvel and T2, even if just a little bit. I worked retail long ago, so am no longer an expert, but worked recently enough to see things arrive on a truck that were not in the system, things that were on a truck manifest that were not on a truck, and things on the manifest, in the system, and were completely crushed in transit. Do these things still happen? Surely not. Some employees in retail are there for life. They take great pride in customer service, will go above and beyond for the customer they're helping, and may even recognize a regular. These people are wonderful to encounter. Unfortunately, some are there to get a paycheck until the next job comes around; they may help, they may not. I've never seen one type or the other with any true insight as to how their employer chooses what comes in to the store. "Can we sell it? We can? Good, let's put it in our store and sell it!" Blame TRU or not, boycott or not. I don't see this affecting TRU's business plan. AA/DST? you got your product sold to the largest brick and mortar toy retailer in the nation. Well done, and I hope you have a long and profitable relationship with TRU. Me, I'm looking forward to the 1-per-10 cases TRU exclusive Kang & Captain Marvel (Genis) 2-pack. I called the local store with the item number, and they said they'd hold one for me.
