  1. Regards a new Astonishing X-Men Wolverine, I, for one, would be up for that . I was almost sure that we had had one other than the Wave 13 antique * ...a trawl of the MMDB ( hail Ivan) & I'll put forward W2 Marvel v Capcom Wolverine . Lose the shoulder 'things' & we're nearly there** but that shouldn't mean we couldn't have another ? The M v Capcom line gave us (me?) some lovely versions of Marvel characters ....shame about the Capcoms IMHO. * It's worth looking at that version again, I just have, what on earth is going on with that belt ? ** too many Minimates fail by being 'nearly there ' , the FA Wolverine (TRU 22) would be typical .....slip on mask with no moulded ears . Unforgivable .
  2. I agree . The closest I've come to Peter Parker perfection is the TRU Wave2 Spider-Man sans slip-over , Parker looks like the Parker I first 'knew' . Whilst looking at that TRU set (2009!) Spider-Man & Green Goblin, I am inclined to say that is one of the best Minimate sets ever. It only fails to be perfect (for me) because I never took to slip-overs , they make the 'mate look top-heavy.
  3. If you refer to the MMDB (Hail Ivan) you'll perhaps be surprised ( I was ) to see how few Peter Parkers you'll find. If you're looking for a plain, stand-alone , non-costumed, comic versions you'll find one....one! If you're looking for Spider-Man sans cowl or partial cowl then there's a handful more (heads). To find other Peter Parker 'heads' you'll have to trawl through the MMDB & check out the Spider-Mans with a slip-over mask .....again there a handful more (heads). Peter Parker is amongst my favourite fictional characters & I am actually staggered that I am actually going to say the following : I would absolutely adore a Peter Parker in the 1967 style of John Romita* . Then I'm thinking "why the hell haven't we gotten a Harry Osborn I'm the guy that generally says don't waste time on civilian characters.....I've changed my mind. *I'm not flexible on this
  4. I'm up for any of the villains mentioned whether they've been made in a different format ( animated, comic etc.etc. ) or not. However I'm not sure whether I'll embrace too many, new ,slightly different comic versions of existing Minimate animated versions. The animated Jackal for example is IMHO .....unfortunate...& needs a completely different version . Interestingly enough the animated Jackal wore shorts whilst the comic version sports a pair of green Speedos ....
  5. A Sinister Sox box set would no doubt have Sasquatch (Bigfoot) & the Eel in it ? Some other arch foes are shoe-ins . Please forgive me MinimateKing ...your excellent prediction doesn't deserve it .....but I just couldn't help myself . -R.Solesmate
  6. Risque ? I wouldn't fret too much about Dazzler. I'm not posting pictures but there is an official Kubrick figure that Medicom released in 2004 that should never have seen the light of day . If you want to hunt for it , I'll direct you but prepare a bowl to be sick in first ! Look on US eBay for "Battlefield Baseball Special Edition DVD " . The packaging features an exclusive promo Kubrick which is prominently displayed Yes I have it ....in fact there's another version which is worse which I definitely will not share pictures of or link to . Then there's the Ugo Ugo Ruga kubricks ......... I'm happy with Minimates being conservative.
  7. Thinking back on it, I finally realised that 'Thor' was a custom that my ol' friend (sometimes foe) TBT gave me at SDCC 2008 ........16 years ago when I was old but less old than I am now It's still a pretty awesome Minimate even now & completely illustrates my passion for Minimates , it is simple but priceless . Sorry .
  8. It's not a great picture is it ? I have many oddities/protos etc. & somewhere amongst them are some customs that an original 'boardie' produced back in the really early days ....the days before I arrived here (2006) As far as I recall, there are 4 blank type 'mates that have various Transformer logos .....I think that is one of them . I have a set . Shanester would know for sure IF we're on the right track. The 'Thor' in the picture has been bugging me all day since I posted that picture ....WTF is that , even I can't recall ?
  9. Yes I own the Aquaman , he was an eBay purchase from "that guy in China" * several years ago . My collection is in dire need of sorting out . I took that picture several years ago & haven't seen either the picture or the 'mates in some time . That Thor (in the pic) is pretty unique as is that 'other guy' with the beard to his left .......if I recall they are both from the *same source.
  10. Check out the Aquaman (top left ) , I have always understood it to be a 'proto' ,if it's not, it is amongst the best customs that I am likely to see.
  11. Two (or 3) wrongs* do not make a right I'm not indignant or outraged.... or anything.... but I am fascinated with what is & what isn't perceived as 'OK' . * IM personal O
  12. I read a lot of the Inferno stuff whilst it was 'current' & I most certainly recall much of it ..... so I understand the reluctance to portray the S&M gear etc. in a toy-line but TBQH I cannot fathom why anybody would want a new-born infant as an accessory/character . Maybe it's just me ?
  13. I'm getting a tad confused again , is the discussion about X-Men '97 , about wave 87 or both ? Whilst I'm at it ...do we still call newly released box sets 'Waves' ? I actually thought that that was a joke but after some research ( Marvel Legends Goblin Queen release ) I realise it's not . Minimaternity ?
  14. Very few people that I know get to see any of my stuff , I'm pretty sure I don't fit into any demographic that might be called typical in any sense of the word . Here goes.... That said I can safely say that reactions to any type of Mini-figure varies dramatically depending on which character you are showing the 'viewer' . Personally I absolutely detest the majority of Lego-figures yet I have an SDCC 2008 Joker/Batman promo set that I adore ....I must add that I am perhaps influenced by the fact that I attended that SDCC & the set has actually become quite collectable There are several Minimates that I would never bother showing anybody unless they had an extreme & particular interest in the licence . I'm not here to denigrate a toy that I love but there have been way too many uninspiring Minimates. On the other hand who could fail to dislike almost anything in the DC series (for example )? Fabulous . Let's not forget my favourite licence , Marvel . I haven'y got time to list how many superb characters we have had . Currently ( I rarely have 'mates on display) I am displaying the very last WG Deadpool Minimate on my fridge ....I put a couple of magnets in his 'feet ' . He greets anybody who walks into the kitchen & gets a positive reaction from nigh on everybody ! Recent Marvel Minimates releases , I must emphasise, are superb , light years ahead of early Marvel minimate releases & ,dare I say it , as good as if not better than the very best kubricks . Kubricks are divisive & much of what I said above can be thrown out the window , some are shit (sorry but I strived & failed to find a more polite word) & some are quite sublime . Palz ? Yet again ...IMHO Buffy Palz almost look like a different style of toy when compared to X-File Palz whilst Die-Hard Palz look different again ....maybe it's me ?
  15. ....is printed on the reverse of the packaging of the latest 'Daredevil Woman Without Fear ' pack .
  16. Inspiring stuff ,really beautiful . It's ironic that in the current thread, 'DC Minimates', it is being explained, to those (like me) that hadn't realised , that Marvel Minimates are no longer marketed as having interchangeable parts & accessories . Stunning stuff .
  17. " fully interchangeable parts & accessories" is what they 'all' say.
  18. Previews , BBTS, Luke amongst others, all still seem to think that it is OK to advertise Marvel Minimates as 'interchangeable' ..........maybe, like me, they didn't realise? This is quite bizarre.
  19. Zach , I'd convinced myself that I was losing my mind but I've steadied myself & checked the DST website for Minimates. The latest pre-order for Marvel Spider-Verse Minimates clearly states that they have interchangeable parts. In your post you say that you don't market them (Minimates) as having interchangeable parts ? I am perhaps realising however that (for a considerable time) DST hasn't actively marketed Marvel Minimates as having interchangeable parts ? Who knew ?
  20. RIP . Whilst he was justifiably famous for Dragonball , I particularly love his Doctor Slump characters , I have all the Kubrick Dr.Slump characters that were released & they are completely off the wall . I mention this purely because even someone as humble as me has been influenced by Toriyamas work . BTW It's kind of odd that Medicom never actually made Dragonball kubricks , you'll often see Dragonball kubricks up for sale on eBay etc. but although they share a Kubrick-likeness they are not kubricks & it shows.
  21. I hope it's 'The Red Herring' , I love her , she's smokin' .
  22. That threw me initially , I knew there was a BB 'mate shark yet I couldn't find it in the MMDB lists . Of course it is listed in the 'Comic book Heroes' section . Hail Ivan . There was also that stunning Ghost Shark TRU POTC release.
